Best Cooking Games On Switch (2024 Updated)

The Positives: + Contains all of the content from both Overcooked! and Overcooked! 2, including all of the DLCs + Runs solidly while looking very nice + Provides both local and online multiplayer + Catchy soundtrack + Wide variety of chefs to play as + Provides a wide variety of accessibility options + By and large controls very well.

The Drawbacks: -. though I do find it hard to grab what I need from the counters on occasion, as it can be a bit fussy – It did crash on me once – Those who have bought Overcooked! and/or Overcooked! 2 before may feel a bit put out by this release – May cause arguments with others in the heat of kitchen battle, even if you’re playing single player.

Overview: If you’ve ever been interested in playing the Overcooked! games, this is THE way to do it. You get all of the content from both the first two Overcooked! games, while getting a spiffy graphical upgrade and smoother performance! I found the soundtrack catchy, and the accessibility options deserve a special mention, as well.

Those who have bought any Overcooked! games before may very well feel a bit hard done, though, as they don’t get the graphic/performance updates nor the new free DLC this game got. Also, going for the top ratings on the levels can be pretty tense, so someone may end up unleashing their inner Gordon Ramsay in the heat of battle! All in all, this is the king of the co-operative multiplayer genre and highly recommended!.

I played both Overcooked games during the last generation and had an absolute blast. The gameplay is best experienced with your friends and family while yelling at each other to “get out of the way. ” This series is one of the best party/couch co-op games available anywhere.

Unfortunately, there’s a bug that makes the couch co-op completely unplayable on the Xbox Series X/S – which is the whole point of these games. You cannot use multiple controllers with multiple XBox profiles – the game just simply won’t let you add multiple players with correct controller assignments.

If you somehow get lucky enough to get your entire party in (we’ve experienced problems with both 2 and 3 players), the game will crash back to the main menu anytime an achievement pops. Judging by the posts on Reddit, Twitter and a few other gaming sites – I’m not the only one with these issues.

Judging by the support articles I’ve seen, they’ve known about this issue since launch and have done nothing to fix it. I love this series, but I can’t recommend anyone buy this compilation (for Series X) until the developers fix these issues.

If you’re planning on just playing yourself. everything seems to function as intended. But all of the joy of couch co-op is completely missing.

If you own the previous 2 games and the DLCs, it’s really not worth buying this game for just the extra content (Ever Peckish Rising), which is only 7 stages. I don’t really care for updated graphics, because let’s be real, the game is too chaotic for anyone to notice ooooh the tomatoes look prettier that before.

It doesn’t really add to the gameplay experience. The loading times are still horrendous compared to Steam/Xbox. There are some levels that are very glitchy. (Ex: In Ever Peckish Rising 2-2, after falling off the stage, the cooking progress bar would sometimes disappear and you can’t pick up stuff.

This continued to happen even after restarting the level. and restarting the Switch). AYCE might be worth getting if you don’t already own the previous 2 games. If you have a Steam account, buy and play it there instead.

Or have your phone or a book handy for the long load times.

Cooking Mama is a series that started on the Nintendo DS and then worked it’s way onto several consoles since. But this latest outing on Switch has been surrounded by a lot of controversy. First the developer published that it might implement bitcoin mining into the game (which it did not), and then it randomly released earlier this year against the wishes of the rights holder so it was taken down again.

It seems that the dispute between the developer and the rights holder has largely been worked out as the game is largely available now though. The game while maintaining a lot of the charm of past entries and looking better than ever, has issues with it’s control.

And while using the joy-con should be intuitive, it’s largely clunky and the controls aren’t explained well, so getting the correct motions can be challenging. For a budget price this is a decent game, but the controls are why I can’t easily recommend it.

Purchased for my 7yr old daughter. She likes it (similar to an ipad game she plays). Typical sort of arcade/sim game for kids. Voice acting is a bit rough and does not have an option to disable. Overall, she enjoys the game.

Since I couldn’t find any reviews I’ll throw my opinion out there. Just received the game today and played for an hour or so, did 5 recipes or so. I’m going to say this game is quite fun as long as you keep your expectations in check.

The motion controls aren’t as accurate as the Wii but what’s there is fun. I played with my 5 year old and he had fun also, some parts were a little dutifully for him but he could do most of it. I haven’t played a Cooking Mama game since the Wii and wanted to relive some of those moments and this fits the bill perfectly.

Fun games for group party. It takes collaboration and team work. Well lots of restaurant voices will come out. The game almost portray what happened behind the restaurant. So enjoy.

Love this game!!!!! However it is the European version, doesn’t change anything just letting you know. The only difference is the game name label on the side of the game case is centered on European vs American being at the top.

So if youre OCD this may bother you. I dont have mine displayed so Im okay with it.

Great family friendly game thats good for kids and adults alike. Mainly good for playing in pairs or groups. Even serious gamers can enjoy this for a bit of a change.

Since there isn’t a Nintendo Switch version or Xbox One version, we’re doing the PS4 Version. Minus the PS2 original version, they’re all (generally) the same, minus graphics and branding. The Final Fantasy X HD Remaster is an amazing game to own for any part of your (J)RPG collection.

The storyline still holds up after all these years. Revisiting the game after 15 years, the first noticable difference in gameplay (other than the reworked music and menu overhaul) is the choice of having a Basic Sphere Grid or an Advanced Sphere Grid.

(This Sphere Grid system is essentially how you go about learning your abilities and leveling stats). Some spells were added to make some segments of the game more viable and less annoying. Also adding educed load/saving times as a plus.

My only few problems with this game is that the Switch/Xbox Version doesn’t have skippable cutscenes, and blitzball seems to be a big random numbers game. If you can find this, get a new copy. Retails for about $40 but its a solid deal id you can find it at a lower price.

This is an awful product as I bought it. I bought it used. Now let’s circle back. These games are awesome. Full stop. To me they’re the last of the “old school Final Fantasy” titles. The writing is solid, characters compelling, settings rich, and music, in true Final Fantasy fashion, outstanding.

I would recommend ANYONE into jrpg in specific or just great games in general purchase and download this from the e-shop on your console of choice (I’m on the Switch). The hard copy, however, only comes with FFX; FFX-2 is had via download using an included code.

I didn’t know this when I bought my copy. The clown I bought it from mentioned it in the listing, but he didn’t go out of his way to make that easy to see. He just wasn’t a very good person. But the game is awesome.

Just make sure you buy it new, and before you do that, if you’re buying a hard copy, make sure your console’s e-shop still has X-2 available for download. I would just recommend downloading it.

This ps3 version of the remaster comes with the art book, unlike the ps4 version that has other collectibles. As for gameplay, everything is about the same and I didn’t notice anything different. Graphically it is upgraded to be clearer and more colorful, but shadows and facial expressions are more realistic on the original FFX on ps2.

Aside from a few nitpicks on this remaster, I can’t complain much!.

There are various little quirks in this version of sos that’s bothersome. For one, the constant reminder of upcoming festivals from every single npc is super annoying this starts 3-4 days prior to the upcoming festival and will not stop until the festival day has come and passed.

Two, the “unable to tell which field of crop you planted” is another, the previous sos on the 3ds had fixed this but it is now back, you will have to wait until the plant is harvested or sprouted. Third, you cannot tell “who” you are talking to until you speak to the npc, there are many npcs and you will either have to memorize their profile avatar or just talk to them.

Fourth, time passes too fast in this game, you can’t fix this unlike the other sos on the 3ds and Fifth the makers are a joke, you can’t keep adding items into the same one maker unlike the previous sos on the 3ds, you have to craft so many of them and each one takes up 4 squares of space.

Sixth cooking takes up time, on top of the fact that the in game clock moves pretty fast and let’s not forget the loading time every single time you step into olive town. Also very limited amount of freedom when it comes down to plopping down furniture and what not of any crafted items.

I wanted to place a table inside the house but I couldn’t place them just anywhere even when there was clearly a huge space. Another downside is that the house customizations are also very limited. I don’t know what happened with the devs for this SoS but it’s not a step up but a step down, several even.

Granted this is better than the harvest moon one world but still like I said many little quirks that should not be present after several of SoS has been released. Update: this game has been updated with a few fixes one being the loading times there is a difference and I can see that when my character enters into town.

Also I believe there are future fixes down the road including the makers.

Game definitely has some interesting features I haven’t seen in other similar farming sims but there’s a lot I don’t like. ( – ) The loading time between locations is stupid long and extremely irritating if you’ve accidentally traveled somewhere and need to turn around and travel back out.

( – ) So many of the characters that would be fun to romance aren’t marriage candidates and the ones that are have bland cut scenes and heart events. ( + ) You can romance same sex partners in this SoS which you can’t do in the older ones ( + ) graphics are very cool and much nicer than older versions ( – ) Graphics lag and skip during town events when all characters are present ***Spoilers below (Just a quick feature list)**** This contains spoilers if you’re just starting out! I get tired of hearing about X event for days before and days after it happens. – WHY WE GROWN’ SO FAST?? The trees and weeds grow so fast I feel like The Happening is about to start. – Limited shipping bin spaces – Makers are too niche and bulky.

I would have preferred actual appropriate machines instead of weird boxes with the light – Cant put chests inside??? – 3rd bridge only unlocks a mine – Egg hunt just a cut scene and not a mini game – Heart events are kind of boring – Cant decorate with our pictures.

Unfortunately this game is a huge downgrade from the previous 3DS titles. There is very little content as far as events and festivals go. The game could have benefitted from using character portraits when talking to people.

The dialogue is bland and lacking. Even after getting closer to NPCs they still don’t say much. The farm chugs even with little decorations or makers (which are awful in themselves). One of my personal peeves is that, say, you lay down some pathways; well, walking on or being near them has the “put away” prompt right over your head everywhere you go and it just looks ugly and distracting and makes me not want to use them.

As of writing this, an update has released that fixes some bugs and improves load times. There is another update scheduled to release later this spring that fixes more things, adds more dialogue, and allows you to craft more than one thing at a time with makers.

Maybe wait for that update at least before purchasing. The really cool thing about this version is that it comes with a very cute cloth poster, and that definitely is a big plus if you’re a fan of Story of Seasons.

worked just as intended. There is a code in the box that allows you to download the game for free in the nintendo store. works well because i didnt want to have to carry a bunch of game chips. it’s also a fun game, you can play alone or with friends.

I grew up playing cooking mama on my Nintendo DS and it was my favorite game by far. However, it was kind of upsetting that I couldnt use the touch screen to do anything. Playing in the handheld mode was boring to be honest due to it being super easy.

If you need a challenge, playing with the Joy Cons was a lot harder. Enough with the negatives, overall the game was fun. The graphics are great, Mama with her dances and her phrases are the best part.

I just wish there were more recipes :(.

It’s fun! I grew up playing cooking mama games; however, this one wasn’t as good as the others. My 7-year-old sister loves this game though. It’s still really fun, just not exactly like the older cooking mama games.

Im not the ideal demographic for this game, as Im more of an older ex-gamer. However, my niece and nephew saved up and bought this game and I knew how much they wanted to play it with me as well. So, I found a used copy on ebay and were able to play with each over on Xbox live, though were many miles apart.

This game offers a lot of variety, requires incredible teamwork, devising strategies, and builds off of the original game by offering new advanced moves. Youre working in ever changing kitchen environments, preparing main dishes, smoothies, and the food types span the spectrum.

Whether youre chopping, cooking, plating or delivering the prepared dishes to the expo station, you must all work together and hone your skills in order to get the best score possible and advance through the levels of the game.

Bought this for rainy day lockdown fun with the kids. They arent usually bothered by any games on the PS4 as the controller is a bit grown up for them (6 & 10 Girls) The game though is really funny and one or two levels are pretty easy once you get the hang of it but the others can be really really challenging its all about multiplayer mode really which needs good communications as to whos doing what in the kitchen!.

Lovely little game, great to play with friends and so addictive. The story lines are fun and it’s good for adults and kids.

Excellent game my 8 year old daughter loves it and its educational learning children how to prepare and cook food as well as running a restaurant which can be applied to many scenarios in the real world and is good value.

Takes teamwork to play this game, awesome family fun game

I loved Overcooked 2, and was hoping this game had more to it. But this game is just Overcooked 1 and 2 on the same cartridge, with all the added extra maps and cook skins. I’ve already played all of Overcooked 2 + the extra maps, so I tried playing the first Overcooked, but it is harder to play and not as fun.

I kind of wish I didn’t buy this game. It didn’t even load my saved data from Overcooked 2 onto this new game, so I had to start from scratch. If you’ve never played Overcooked 1 or 2, I recommend getting this game, it’s the price of one game but you get both! If you’ve played one or both, don’t get it, it doesn’t have anything extra.

I think I’ll end up reselling this if I can get a profit, or give it as a gift to someone.

Fun for a few hours but starts to get old. First game is alright and the second one is okay at first but quickly starts to get annoying. It’s like at some point in the middle of the second game, the developers think annoying obstacles are what makes a game fun and challenging.

No, these make you want to stop playing the game entirely and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Don’t bother with just singleplayer and eventually with co-op too, unless you play on easy. There’s also a problem with weird input lag that is infuriating at times in a game like this where you’re in a rush.

Best played with three or four people.

Test the fabric of every social relationship you have and who you are as a person with overcooked. A really great simulation tool for therapists everywhere to pretend that people are working on conflict resolution or team building, when really what they’re doing is making sushi or burritos.

People have overhyped this game for nearly a decade and it is infuriating. The game is okay but it is not innovative It uses mechanics that have been built on since the PlayStation 2. The only thing that’s changed is accessibility and visibility, the switch makes it a lot easier for people to cross play and segment which means it’s being mistaken for innovation when really it’s all about putting it in front of people.

I’m going to give it five stars because I already selected five stars and I’m too lazy to go back, but don’t buy this game for anything other than having fun. Please don’t tell me that it’s a tool for making your relationship stronger.

This game is hilarious to play and frustrating. As a player you have to chop, cook, build orders and serve your dishes in what could be considered “extreme” conditions. Becareful because you can set your whole dang kitchen on fire and fall off a hot air balloon all at the same time.

This game was a complete underdog for my child but quickly became a top 5. Great 2 player game. Only downside for us was the load time.

Super fun with friends. I play this with my kids and we have a blast. The controls work well since there aren’t a lot of buttons to play. Wish more games were local multiplayer (couch coop) like this one.

Having played both overcooked 1 and 2, I think this one is a bit more polished, but pretty much the same gameplay.

Bro this game…. this GAME!! IS SO FUN!!! Now I know this game is all about teamwork and communication but when you have competitive friends who want to win every level it becomes a hilarious time of us jokingly getting frustrated with each other! It’s so fun to find a good rhythm for each level, and it’s funny when we make mistakes like when we fall off the map or accidentally throw food away.

All around fun time and i recommend this if you play a lot of games with friends or family!.

Great sequel to its predecessor. Overcooked 2 added new features that improve upon Overcooked. First, players are now able to toss raw ingredients to one another over a significant distance, hastening the ever need to stay ahead of the orders.

You can also play with other individuals via internet connection, though I honestly have not used this feature this far. I did however, play this game with my 11 year old niece and she loved it. Also, the overall chaotic nature of the game is entertaining to watch, even if not actively playing.

Overcooked 2 is a game that brings together all ages and skill-ranges of individuals. This game is easy enough that one can pick up the controller and quickly learn and enjoy its gameplay, while gradually adapting to the progressive difficulty of new levels.

This game is seriously fun! My boy friend and I played this game and is a bonding game for sure. It really works on communication working together! We only played two player but I can imagine how much fun and easier it would be with 4 players.

We are definitely going to try this out with friends!! It’s funny and it’s frustrating at times. Definitely challenging at times with 2 people but fun! The levels get harder as you go, you make new dishes (pizza, fish and chips) and new obstacles!! Highly recommend!! I’m not into video games that much (nor that much good) and my boy friend is and I found it extremely fun to play!! Try this at a party, family get together, with a friend!! Just give it a try!!.

I love this game. I got so obsessed playing this. It’s a lot of fun if you have other people to play with. You all work together to make food and turn in on time. Everyone should play this. Basically anyone can play it.

A great game to play with friends. This game is EXTREMELY difficult to play alone. Some levels you may even need more than two players to beat. It is a super fun strategy game. You have to work together to make orders, but each level has a different kitchen model.

It is always a surprise as to what the level will be like, some are in the dark, some the counters move, some you slide on ice. Its loads of fun and requires communication between your friends. Highly recommend, the controls are super simple!.
