The best concrete mix for a patio is one that is made up of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, and 3 parts gravel. This mix will provide a strong and durable foundation for your patio that will be able to withstand heavy traffic and weathering.

ROCKITE and KWIXSET are fast setting, hydraulic type cement compounds of more than twice the strength of fully cured conventional concrete. When mixed with water to pourable consistency they flow and seep into place as though they were molten lava.
Both products have an initial set with in 15-20 minutes. With in one hour they will develop compression strengths of 31Mpa or 4500 psi. Its adhesion is due to expansion (hydraulic forces against exterior walls of drilled holes etc) and when fully set it grips metal to concrete permanently.
Great stuff. I have used this to anchor pipe rail posts for many years. Nothing holds like this stuff with its expansion properties. It’s also super quick cure – almost too quick on hot days. That allows installation in high traffic areas without concern for it being disturbed before it sets up (kids will be kids).
THE drawback is that it just doesn’t hold up in exterior use, especially in winter if you use snow melt. It’s not like they are hiding anything though. It says right on the tub – not for exterior use.
My work-around is to pour within an inch of grade and then cap it with something like 20 minute set Recrete. Recrete also matches the poured slab color better too.
Have used Rockite for many years to mount lead anchors into brick walls and fill cracks in walks and driveways. Everything thhat the manufacturer says is true. One precaution: when you are about to apply Rockite, saturate the cement around the hole or crack with lots of water.
Otherwise, the cement will pull water out of the Rockite and you get a weak or useless bond. It also stores very well if the container is sealed. Use above freezing temperatures.
I bought two bags of this and cut them both open and dumped them out. the people that stated they received a bag of rocks must have gotten the aggregate that was supposed to be in mine because mine had none.
A bag of what I believe was just cement. It was filling a trench under a new shower base so I wasn’t worried about structural strength – just hope it sets up solid. Would have returned it but wasn’t too interested in trying to get it back into the bags.

I am just a housewife, I asked one of my sons to fill the large crack in my garage, he told me, “all garages have those. ” I told him never mind, I’ll do it myself. I Googled to find out what I needed to do, then went to it.
I was amazed how easy this was, I was done within an hour and am so pleased with how it looks. I highly recommend this product; if I can do it, anyone can.

I literally just built my house from the foundation up. I poured the footings, laid the block work, did the stucco, poured/trowled concrete sidewalks (along with the framing, sheathing, roofing, etc.
) , and they all came out great. I poured 80 square feet of countertop/island in the house and it came out horrendous. I measured/poured 3 quarts of water as suggested into a bucket, drilled a hole at that level so I always had the same amount, mixed it up and poured as directed.
I could not get the trowel marks out of the top surface of the cream layer, ended up getting down to the aggregate at various points during the steel trowel phase trying to level it out. Only option aside from ripping it out or trying the microtopping they sell that has a one star rating is to sand it all down to the aggregate.
So far I have sanded the 4’X7′ island for 4 hours with the 60 grit diamond pad and I probably still have another 6 hours of sanding left to go on it. I’m sure i will burn through another 3-5 of their $40 diamond pads getting through the cream, in my additional countless hours of sanding.
Just an honest review of a person who is handier than the average bear. For all those thinking about going this route, I would look into another counter option. I paid $25 a square foot for concrete and could have gotten Granite for $60 a square foot and saved hours of time and aggravation.
Note, this is for an outdoor bbq. I live in Southern California (steady weather) where my bbq island is predominantly covered by a patio. I did everything by the book, exactly as instructed. Paid a lot of money and ordered all the required and recommended materials.
Only 1 month later I have 2 large cracks running down the countertop. I expected better having paid over $1,200 including shipping. On a more positive note, the color of the countertop is very pretty and the texture (where it isn’t cracked) is very nice.
I just expect better results when paying so much money. I should’ve just done regular 5,000psi from homedepot, painted, and sealed all for a fraction of the cost. Oh well.
I am a concrete finisher for a living. We followed the directions 100%, and I have regretted it ever since. It didn’t have enough plasticizer in the mix, so it was not flow able at all. It left horrible honeycomb everywhere, that was so deep, it couldn’t be fixed properly.
The companies suggestion was to purchase a sand top mix from them, and filter out the large grains of sand for the repairs. Although their form system is superior, I wouldn’t ever use this mix again.
And, using their calculator on their order page to determine how much you need, costs you an extra $150 roughly. We ended up with 5 bags left over, 2 of which were busted open on the palet when we received the order, which the company never offered to replace after they were informed of the situation.

Preserve your child’s footprints with the Milestones Premium Stepping Stone Mix in an 8 lb Box. You can embellish it with all sorts of decorative bits, including colored glass, polished rocks and more before hardening.
This kids’ stepping stone kit creates one 12 inch piece or two 8 inch pieces. The finished product makes a lovely gift idea for grandparents and other family friends.
I cast my first stepping stone. It looked terrific, but broke when I picked it up. I tried again, making it as thick as possible. It lasted a bit longer, but never made it onto the ground. I don’t see how it can stand up to being stepped on if it keeps breaking in your hands.
Just add water and mix. Super easy to use. I bought a stand mold to hold my custom made stepping stones (it holds them upright so you can view them and people won’t step on them). One box was the perfect amount.
You can also use to make a stepping stone if you have your own mold.

Easy to use, much less expensive than buying pre-mixed from a concrete company, especially for small jobs around the house or anywhere. I can always count on Tractor Supply to carry necessary supplies and many other items for our home and pets!.
If you want to set a fence post – this is the right stuff. I always use two bags or more per post in order to get a good solid anchor. Do not use mortar mix for fence posts or anything else where the mix is to be the primary component of your structure.
Works great when you use spring water, rain water, or well water that has not been treated with salt, such as many old water conditioners use. I have often gotten chalky powdery or crumbly results from using water conditioned with salt, not always, but often.

A concrete patio is a great addition to any home, and the right mix of concrete can make all the difference in the strength and durability of your patio. The most important factor in choosing the right concrete mix for your patio is the ratio of cement to sand to gravel.
The ideal ratio for a patio is 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, and 3 parts gravel. This ratio will give you a strong and durable patio that will last for years.
