Compost is a type of organic matter that is broken down into smaller pieces by bacteria and other organisms. It is used as a soil amendment and can improve the structure, fertility, and drainage of the soil.
Compost can be made from a variety of organic materials, such as leaves, grass, and vegetable scraps.

IšverstiShow in original languageAlthough I am meticulous about maintaining the correct 3:1 carbon:nitrogen ratio, it is cold here and temps and daylight are at a minimum which is not conducive to ideal composting.
Added this compost starter and it has definitely helped accelerate the composting process in my composter. Organic material which had been sitting in the composter for months has now started to break down.
Eagerly awaiting how long it takes for a finished batch in this weather.
IšverstiShow in original languageGreat accelerator for starting your compost bin! No odor, organic and all you do is add the specific amount, water and work it in! Already seeing results! I will purchase it again Thank you!.
Espoma Organic Traditions Compost Starter- 1. 8kg Bag BE4 Sprinkle enough Bio-Excelerator to completely cover your compost pile (approximately 1 cup per 1. 5sqm of compost). Each time you add another layer of organic material, sprinkle Bio-Excelerator completely over your last layer.
If you completely moisten (not soak) the added layer after your application of Bio-Excelerator and turn the pile regularly (preferably once a week), you can reduce the time required for humus production to 2 to 3 months minimum.
This is a follow-up review after using Espoma for one compost mix in the Wizard, Jr. Espoma works absolutely great on certain things only: soft produce like bananas, apples, pears, melons, leafy greens, all root veggies like carrots, beets, onions, potatoes, citrus peels, coffee grounds, tea leaves, flower petals (no stems), and chicken droppings.
I avoided putting anything of the corn plant into the compost because it just doesn’t break down (not the stalk, not the cob, not the kernels, silk, etc. ) Two years in a compost pile never broke these items apart – they shriveled, got hard and wet, but never broke down.
Espoma did not help break down the following one bit: avocado skins (came out super hard and unbroken), tomatillo outer paper skins (came out with lacey veins, bright green and never turned dark), autumn leaves (turned black but the veins in the leaves got hard and the leaves themselves stayed solid – never decomposed in the bin), straw (came out the same way it went in – tough, unbroken, still yellow), egg shells (should’ve crushed these fine before adding to compost because the whole shells never broke down).
All these came out of the compost bin the way they went in and NEVER broke down and sifting was useless because I had a black gooey mess sticking to the big chunks that didn’t break down like the straw and leaves.
Now that I know what Espoma doesn’t break down, I won’t throw these into the next compost mix. Espoma is truly nice when used on select plants and foods. Harder yard waste is useless to waste nice Espoma on it.
Every gardener is very different. This is just comments on my particular experience using Espoma. Extremely nice product but now I will only use it on food plant compost.
I have ordered several products from Hayneedle recently and am so thoroughly pleased with each and every one. [. ] I happened up on your site acidentally when I was comparing compost tumblers. What a lucky day for me! I absolutely cannot praise Hayneedle enough!!I must choose the odor free Compost Caddy on which to comment in this message.
I ordered it as an afterthought when I received my composter. It is totally sufficient for my needs – sleek design, perfect color, filter to guard against unpleasant odors, and roomy enough to lessen my trips outside to the composter tremendously.
I am so happy with it that I simply had to order one for my son, as well. He is also a nature person who believes in “going green”.
I started composting in early summer this year. I have used the accelerator on the layers as specified on the product. When I turned my compost it was already macerating and looks great. I know if I hadn’t used this product it would be a much slower progress.
Growing your veggies in organic soil not only makes you feel good, but it’s also better for you! This Fort Vee mix is a great choice for gardeners who prefer a compost-based germination and growing medium.
Specially designed for soil blocks, trays, and pots, it’ll boost the nutrient, mineral, and antioxidant levels of your crops. It’s also a fantastic choice for those “heavy feeders” plants that require more nutrients than others.
In addition to favorite crops like peppers and tomatoes, popular veggies like broccoli, celery, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, melons, okra, and squash are more nutrient-greedy than others. Some leafy greens, beans and members of the cabbage family grow better in a richer soil too.
And if you’re trying hemp for the first time, this is an excellent soil choice for that! You’ll still need to fertilize regularly throughout the growing season, but using this nutrient-boosted potting mix will give your plants a jumpstart.
A rich, organic, compost-based potting soil, Ideal for seed starting and transplants, Growing your veggies in organic soil not only makes you feel good, but it’s also better for you! This Fort Vee? mix is a great choice for gardeners who prefer a compost-based germination and growing medium.
, Specially designed for soil blocks, trays, and pots, it’ll boost the nutrient, mineral, and antioxidant levels of your crops.
This was my second year with an annual garden. I’ve been learning about Permaculture for a few years. This was also my second year trying to use soil blocks to start seeds indoors. Last year I used a soil mix from Johnny’s which worked well.
I’ve also experimented making some starter soil myself last year, but as a beginner it became overwhelming. When I heard this was a product of Vermont Compost Company, that gave me a great sense of ease.
I’ve heard of them through a few sources and I appreciate their practices. I always wonder what companies through into compost and how well they process it. When I opened my first bag, I was a bit confused and disappointed.
It was quite a different texture than I was used to. I had come up with an exact measurement of water to add to my previous mix and couldn’t see how this mix would hold together with the same. I watched a few YouTube videos and then got more generous with the water.
I started getting awesome 2″ blocks with ease. I now find this mix very easy to use and I no longer measure the water I add. It seems very forgiving. So far I’ve only used this mix for 2″ blocks (not the mini’s), but the plants all did very well and are now out in the garden.
Since this was a hectic year and we’re fairly new to all of this, we also bought some starts from local farms as backups — these of course came in trays. Now that we’ve transplanted them all, I have to say that I liked the starts in blocks MUCH better.
Some of the trays were root bound and needed to be freed. The soil we got in many of the trays just seemed like an ultralight sponge. The blocks I made with this mix had healthy plants and no root bound issues — they transplanted much quicker.
The fine grain and bits of coconut coir in this potting mix makes it ideal for soil blocking. A YouTube video recommended mixing this Vermont Compost product with Jiffy seed starter, but I have achieved great soil block results with just this product and enough water to make the mix clump well.
The blocks hold together extremely well. You do have to find and remove larger particles like small sticks before making the blocks, but these are mercifully few.
This is the best, most versatile compost mix. I do sift out larger bits when I use it as seed starter with tiny seeds, but other than that, it’s great as is. I use it as potting mix and to refresh my raised beds.
Coast of Maine Monhegan Blend Black Earth 1‰Ûa Monhegan Blend is a rich blend of naturally composted barks and compost. The result is an easy-to-use, all-purpose organic soil ideal for top dressing lawns, filling in bare spots or as a general purpose soil amendment.
A beautiful lawn starts with healthy soil that can support the beneficial microorganisms that process the essential nutrients that feed your grass. Remember, a naturally healthy lawn is more drought, weed and disease resistant and requires less watering and feeding.
Meet Subpod – the in-garden worm farm that turns food waste into green space! Enjoy carefree composting with this pest-free, mess-free and stress-free system. Team up with compost worms and turn your food waste into rich soil faster than ever before.
This versatile compost system sits below soil level, submerged in your garden bed, providing functional outdoor seating. Subpod’s unique design features holes in the divider panel and external walls, allowing the worms to move freely between the chambers and surrounding soil.
Naturally insulated, fully pest-proof and odourless, Subpod only requires 5 minutes of maintenance a week!.
The way Subpod explained the need for composting sold me on the idea of composting my fruit, vegetable and paper scraps, so I purchased the mini Subpod. Then I had to shop for a raised bed container to hold soil deep enough to protect the worms inside.
In Georgia, only the young think about digging 10 or 12 inches deep into orange clay, and I am not among the young. Eventually I found a metal raised bed, and a yard project created enough dirt to fill the raised garden bed around the Subpod.
It is now a permanent feature in the back yard. I bought some red worms and started putting food scraps, plant clippings, light cardboard and paper items in the SubPod. Right away the silver insulation panel came off of the inside of the lid, and I don’t see anyway to reattach it, so when I add more.
scraps to the pod, I move the insulation aside and catch a glimpse of the bugs inside scurrying out of sight. I also have to pick up the damp coco fiber mat to move it aside and see more bugs run for cover.
Once I have found a place to put these 2 large pieces to the side, I can dump in the clippings and pick up the coco mat and insulation piece to put them back on top. Even though I see that the worms are reducing the height of the pile, I feel a lot of ICK about the things I have to touch and smell.
And there is no way to collect the worm casings or good compost from the bin without getting the stuff off the top. If I had to do it over, I would look for a bin that has access to the bottom of the bin so I can reach the good stuff, and an easy way to dump in the top without having to touch grimy things inside.
I have committed over $150 to this effort into the Mini Subpod, so I will keep dumping food scraps into it but I don’t expect it to give back anything in the way of worm casings.
I do think it’s such a cool creation especially since we did it for homeschooling lessons. The fact that it comes with it’s own booklet is great. The kids put it together almost completely alone. We followed directions completely to make sure our worms would be happy.
After 3 months of having it we are disappointed. The compost bin has shifted and since only made of plastic was not strong enough to hold up against dirt??? We only have green onions and garlic planted since not much space is given in the “garden bed” to grow anything without it obstructing the compost bin from opening and closing.
The most annoying part is since the compost box has shifted, the lid doesn’t line up anymore to close now, defeating the purpose of it. We might as well throw our compost out in open……. We have a raised garden bed that is 8 x 12 and have more luck digging a hole in the soil and tossing compost in the hole and covering up… I really wish it was more functional because it’s a cute concept.
Bought one bundle to try for myself. Installed the Subpod at the end of the bed, rather than the center, leaving plenty of room for planting a crop of onions & garlic for my small family. Then bought another as a gift for my sister as the height of the bed is tall enough to resist the insidious Bermuda grass, but still short enough for my 3yo nephew to help in.
He’ll find the worms fascinating and the compost cycle a wonderful educational opportunity – all without requiring a ton of time or extra effort from my overworked sister & her husband. My only complaint is that I didn’t check the alignment of the hinges before snapping the sides of the pod in place, and unsnapping them to fix a misaligned hinge was.
difficult. But if you check the hinges to make sure they’re properly aligned before linking the sides, there shouldn’t be any issues. There’s plenty of composting space for the amount a small family produces – but the worms do most of the work to make it, so it’s low effort.
Gardeners Gold Premium Compost is made from matter you can trust leaves, brush and grass that have decomposed for a minimum of 2-years. It contains no animal manures, sludge or industrial wastes that other bagged composts may contain.
Gardener’s Gold improves the soils chemical and biological properties, creating a pH buffer and increasing the soils ability to hold water and suppress weed seeds. At the same time, it supplies your soil with nutrients, organic matter and beneficial soil microbes that increase the growth potential of your plants.
You can use Gardeners Gold wherever you need compost: on your lawn or in your flower beds and vegetable gardens. The amount you need and the way you apply it depends on your purpose and the size of the area where you want to use it.
Made with ingredients you can trust and from materials common to home compost pile.
The soil in my yard was originally all clay–and my family has been amending it since we moved in many years ago. However, none of the many topsoil and compost amendments we have used can measure up to Gardner’s Gold.
Since I fear using wood mulch every year because it doesn’t break down that quickly (and may lead to too much nitrogen in the soil, I have been told), I am going with Gardner’s Gold this year, which means I will be ordering more, as my backyard flower garden is large.
It always looks beautiful and nourishes the soil so effectively! And, the bags this product comes in are not too heavy for a senior citizen like myself to carry around the house to the backyard. I just love this product!.
Everything looks beautiful. My sand cherry shrubs are 25 years old and they bloomed this year like they were back in their prime. I added a bag of compost to fill in a low spot under one section of the shrubs and so accidentally created the experiment of with and without Gardeners Gold compost, the area with closest contact bloomed like crazy! I could feel the happiness in my plant.
An organic, nutrient rich compost ideal for improving soil’s natural structure or for use as above-ground mulch, this mixture of Canadian sphagnum peat, forest humus, and aged compost will increase flower blooms and vegetable yields.
What’s great name for this compost – it is “black gold” literally! Used this to amend clay/sand soil where I planted hydrangea shrubs last Summer. Shortly after adding this to the soil, the shrubs exploded with blooms.
Love the texture of this compost as well. Highly recommend. Will be trying it again this year for my rose bed which includes five rose bushes and some other flowers.

Except for the random twigs found in this bag; the product was clean smelling without any foul odor. Mixes well in my soil mix and sprouted Italian kale and tomatoes seedlings benefited from nutrients in product.
This is only my second bag that was used and I will send an update of the savoy and red cabbages I planted last week. Appears promising thus far. This second bag will be used to amend this sandy lifeless soil we have here locally.
I have this item delivered directly to my home and used it on everything in the garden. Easy to use and no ordor. The results could be seen after only 3 days. The plants are happy and the grass is green great product.
Recharge the soil and replenish the nutrients in your elevated gardens to promote healthy growth all season long. Kit includes two 6-quart bags of Booster Mix (compost, Chilean nitrate, black rock phosphate and other organic nutrients) and a 1 pound shaker of our organic All-Purpose Fertilizer (5-5-5).
In the sea of concrete where I live, I’ve added containers–some of them quite large. This product is on my annual “must buy” list so that I do not need to remove old container soil for new. In the long run, this saves money.
In the short run, it is also beneficial since I don’t have to dump out soil already in the pots and planters.
I have confidence in GS products, so I don’t have to fuss with assorted bags of soil amendments. This product has worked beautifully for me for a number of years. My elevated beds seem to produce more vegetables every year! Thanks, Gardener’s Supply!.
This is the first season I am using this but I think the concept is brilliant. I hate discarding last year’s soil in elevated beds and containers so I have high hopes for this. I trust Gardener’s Supply’s products.

Coast of Maine Quoddy Blend Lobster Compost is our best-selling soil, made with chitin and calcium-rich lobster shells, compost and peat humus. The result is a dark-brown, complex soil that drains well and is ideal for conditioning beds and borders, vegetable gardens, herbs and annuals! Available in 1 cf bags.
Great stuff, used it to top off some older planters filled with perennials and for a small no dig bed. Everything in them did really well, produced big plants, lots of flowers. I plan to buy this whenever I need to supplement my homemade compost.
This is the second Coast of Maine product I’ve tried and had lots of success. Their potting soil mix was perfect for starting seedlings. Worth the couple dollars more that you pay compared to other stuff, and nice to know it’s organic and quality ingredients.
A great compost product for vegetables as I was told by a gardening enthusiast. Using it with patio tomatoes this year. I mixed it with miracle grow garden soil, and so far, the tomato plants are growing like gang-busters, much better results than last year.
Excellent for vegetable gardens. These top quality products will surely produce beautiful, healthy, disease and pest resistant plants. Made up of rich chitin lobster and blended with peathumus & compost.
The outcome is a dark-brown, complex soil that drains well and is perfect for conditioning beds and borders. Approved for organic gardeners.
Grow a bountiful harvest with Miracle-Gro Garden Soil Vegetables & Herbs. Enriched with a blend of essential nutrients and formulated with continuous release plant food it will feed plants for up to 3 months.
Plus Moisture Control technology protects against over and under-watering so you can grow a bigger harvest. vs. unfed plants.
Ruined my tomatoes. Oh, they grew like crazy and had a ton of fruit. But as the tomatoes started to turn red EVERY ONE had blossom rot due to an inadequacy of minerals in the soil. Oh and this company claims they back their product.
This is only true if you keep the receipt and UPC code from the bag. I naturally trusted what I was buying…with a photo of flowers and vegetables…including a tomato on the bag was formulated correctly.
I tossed the bags. Long before the plants started to product tomatoes. This is what the company had to say so do t use it in a raised garden! “ Miracle-Gro All Purpose Garden Soil is designed for in-ground use only.
It is not formulated for use in containers, even large containers such as your watering trough. Soil in containers does not benefit from the natural processes of environmental interaction, such as natural fertilization.
Soil in containers is also prone to compacting, which is why our Potting Mixes use a blend of mediums that are designed to maintain soil aeration even when water has been applied. We do not recommend Miracle-Gro All Purpose Garden Soil for use in containers.
We want you to be confident in our products. For that reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. Simply mail either the original itemized cash register receipt or the UPC barcode removed from each product packaging to the address below and I will promptly issue a refund check.
Emailed proofs of purchase do not qualify as originals. ”.
Bought 4 bags of this “soil”. Read numerous reviews about the debris so wasn’t surprised about the sticks, plastic and was lucky not to find other things. What did surprise me was the infestation of gnats? spiders? mites? small creamy white bugs.
Didn’t really notice them until I had done some planting and disturbed them. The soil was teeming with them so all 4 bags must of been infested. Luckily I used it only in one garden. Now have to try and get rid of them.
Unless you have a sure way of getting rid of these creatures I won’t recommend this product. Quite surprised at the over all poor quality of the “soil” to be associated with Miracle Gro. We assumed that a well-know company would pay better attention to quality.
I must stress that all the bags came from a brand-new skid – it still had the plastic wrap on it when I bought it.
I a have been noticing the quality of potting Soil Mixed for the past 5 years. Night price but low quality. There aren’t much real dirts but mostly finer much or grinned plants, trees and you can name it all.
I live I’m Austin Texas. When using all these grinned trees or barks they are baits for termites in a couple of months. Bring more termites to my property. When you dig up dirts in most ground in Texas, you can expect great amount of clay and limestone kind of dirt.
Not good for gardening at all. Spent quite a bit of money buy Miracles Soil or potting mixed but really I am pretty paying for grind trees and shrub. The big bag cost around $15. So not worthy. Please bring back your good quality of dirts if we have to spend $ on dirts.
In the world of composters, you have two basic choices: Bins and Tumblers. Compost Bins typically hold more than Compost Tumblers but must be aerated constantly. Tumblers aerate easily but usually don’t hold as much material.
The Compost Wizard resolves both of these short comings. Its massive drum is one of the largest on the market. Unlike complex, crank-driven systems that are clunky and break over time, handholds allow you to get a grip to optimize your torque.
A low profile keeps it from blowing over in high winds, helps keep it out of sightand makes it convenient for loading and unloading material. Transporting material across the yard can be heavy. The Compost Wizard’s drum can be leveraged off the base and rolled to a location with no heavy lifting.
The 16″ twist lid makes access easy while sealing in precious compost tea and keeping out animals. Fresh compost can be made in as little as 3 weeks. You only have to turn it once a week or after an addition of new material.
It comes completely assembled, so you can start composting immediately.
I am so pleased with this composter! This size is what I can handle by myself. I didn’t need anything bigger or smaller …just right. I can put my raw veggies peeling and egg shells in and I can rotate the tumbler with no extra help.
Thanks to my red wrigglers for their help too. Now I know to add extra cardboard to the mix and when this side is full I can start on the other drum. The stand has wheels and that helps to rotate the tubs.
Now I have to train the household what “not” to put in the composter. Everything is easy to work and is manageable. I like it and I will continue to use it for years to come.
So disappointed. Side is splitting after 4 months. I treated it well, didnt overload it as I didn’t want it to be too heavy to spin. Still usable at this point but it will be only months before contents will spill out.
Definitely not worth the price. Really dissapointed because I did a lot of looking before choosing this product. Dont buy this. Buy a $10 bin and drill holes.
All purpose, grower’s grade, organic potting soil, enriched with nutrients. Ideal for both in-door and out-door use. No more split bags and trails of soil throughout the house or in the back of the car.
Great product! Comes really compactly packed; is very light (600g). All you need to do is pour 3L of water in and it expands to 10L of soil! It is produced out of natural coconut coir; smells good, my plants seem very happy! Definitely recommend it! P.
S. You don’t need to use it all in one go, you can split dried soil in two and have 5L of soil at a time.
Was a bit wary using this but its great, very light unlike others, lets roots breathe and retains moisture well. My plants have been really happy in it. I used normal houseplant peat free compost in between from a well known brand.
Completely animal by-product free potting soil mix. Works great for growing wheatgrass, barleygrass, microgreens and for potting soil for houseplants, garden plants and flowers. Available in 8 quart or 40 quart quantities.
Sorry, but I have not had the time to open it yet. As it sits on my kitchen floor my cat makes good use of it as a stool. Since it is right near the side entrance he likes going out of, he has taken a liking to this package just as it is.
I am in the midst of moving and it has been quite disturbing. Therefore this has taken second priority for now. Although I am sure it will be put to good use. Now I find I have soil and plants, but not enough pots.
As I plan on taking the flowers that I ordered from seeds from your company.
This soil was recommended for use with microgreens, but it’s much too coarse to get optimal results. I even tested it against an OMRI listed seed starting mix and there was definitely a difference in yield.
However, it works great in pots, and produces new growth when used for transplanting.
I’m not an avid gardener, but I use this potting soil exclusively to grow pea shoots, basil, cilantro, mint, and chives indoors. It works well for me, and I’ve reused the soil many times for pea shoots (after letting it dry out a bit and removing the roots).
I never get bugs in my plants and have only gotten some wispy mold once, so in my amateur opinion, it’s great for my uses.
Simply the best compost available to the gardener today This is a bespoke professional mix made to our exacting recipe from one of Europe’s leading blenders. It contains 20% composted wood fibre, to open the mix up and get air in to the roots, and a precise blend of 3 different grades of peats to balance drainage and water holding.
With added Lime, it is pH balanced to give the optimum growing conditions and with starter fertiliser and a wetting agent, to ensure even water distribution in pots and container, it will get your plants off to a head-start.
On top of that it contains a 6 Month Controlled Release Fertiliser – meaning whatever you grow will get a slow and steady stream of nutrients for 6 Months. Each bag contains a 40 litres of compost when packed.
Under no circumstances should this compost be confused with cheap bags of low-grade black peats at DIY stores – you will feel the light and fluffy difference yourself, and notice the difference in plant growth quickly.
Perfect for pots, baskets and planters for growing any plants.
Since using your rather special compost my plants have always thrived. However, this year forgot to order from you and purchased a similar compost from my local plant nursery. So very disappointed with it as my seeds and plants just didn’t come up to muster.
Have now had my favourite compost delivered from you. Apologies for my disloyalty.
HANDY BAG (10 Litres) Ideal for use all around the garden this premium compost contains nutrients to feed your plant for up to 5 weeks. The added John Innes formula retains and releases nutrients and water for longer, providing your plants with all they need.
It contains our unique ingredient West+ producing our best ever formula.
I switched to this compost after experimenting due to the mixture which my garden plants thrived on over the years. Unfortunately since Covid I purchased the same brand elsewhere which contained a few stones etc but the last lot from wickes x8 bags, every one so far x6 has alot more.
This photo was collected from x1 bag and found the very large stone on the bottom 3rd of it. I’m lucky I had gloves on when finding the glass! When it rains it washes everything through and leaves sand on the surface with a layer of woody mesh! I’ve had to repot and add more compost for the 2nd time this year as it hasn’t held together like previous years.
Very disappointed as wanted to use this for vegetable growing but feel they wont appreciate the stones etc. I had to sieve in the end as every handful was like this. Will go back to other brand and add sand etc which will be more work but better than sticks, stones and glass.
Poor health too so not helpful. Price was great if it was all compost!.
This compost dries to a hard crust which makes watering from the top a pain if that’s what you want to do. However, the worst thing is this: it describes itself as “Now suitable for seed sowing” and “Ideal for seedlings, pricking out and potting on”.
Leaving aside its nutrient value, which is too early for me to judge, all I can say is that it fails to add ‘as long as you sieve it carefully first’. It has far too many hard lumps of ‘something’, bits of twig and an ridiculous number of stones! Fine if you’re say filling a raised bed but not for seeds or seedlings.
See the picture. For this reason, I won’t be buying it again.
Good compost. No wire or big bits of wood. No flock like cheap supermarket compost. There are the usual stringy bits and irregular hard lumps that need to thrown out but this makes up a lot less than 1% unlike some composts were up to 5% is useless.
Plants seem to like it and no sign of fungal or unusual plant contamination. Dries quite quickly (but weather has been extremely hot). Used for potting up seedlings and growing from seed and although not extra fine.
High organic matter provides plants with a storehouse of nutrients. Changes marginally performing soil to a rich, fertile soil. Helps “break up” clayish soils and holds sandy soils together. Excellent organic soil conditioner.
My wife and I always use composted manure to give the seedlings and plants a boost for growth. We always where it is seeds or a plant, bury a cupful three inches under them. This way they always do better for growth.
Manure is 3 times the feeding of ordinary humas manure, contains organic materials peat. Features :-. 75 cuft. 3 Times The Feeding Of Ordinary Humas Manure. Contains Organic Materials Peat. Composted Forest Products & Rice Hulls, Or Compost.
This Humus and Manure product is amazing! My Bermuda grass was struggling in the Arizona sun this summer, so I added it to my lawn then slowly soaked it with a sprinkler during the morning hours and again in the evening hours when the sun’s intensity was diminished.
The humus absorbed water, thereby, allowing the manure to slowly release its nutrients without burning everything upon which it was applied. In less than two weeks, the grass became a beautiful, deep green color.
I also recommend this product for gardening — this combination is a perfect soil amendment for controlling both moisture-loss and nutrient-release.
This product is no very good. Like others I found plastic and a lot of small stones. Not to mention that it had a lot of squash and melon seeds mixed in it. These unexpected seeds killed half of my tomato plants and all six of my giant watermelon plants.
And giant watermelon seeds are not cheap. Not very happy at all. Would not recommend this product to anyone for use in gardens.
When you have finished composting your kitchen and garden waste, you will end up with a nutrient-rich soil amendment that will benefit your vegetable garden. The compost will improve the soil structure, drainage, and aeration while also providing essential nutrients for your plants.
It is important to remember that compost is not a fertilizer and should not be used as a sole source of nutrients for your garden. Instead, use it as a supplemental amendment to improve the overall health of your soil.
