A cold weather running jacket is a type of garment specifically designed to keep a runner warm during cold weather runs. These jackets are typically made from lightweight, breathable materials that allow the runner to stay comfortable while still being able to move freely.
Many cold weather running jackets also feature reflective elements to help the runner be seen more easily by drivers and others in low-light conditions.
20 Best Cold Weather Running Jackets
1. The North Face Women’s Winter Warm Jacket, XS, Black
The temperatures are dropping and snow may be falling, but you’re still out running. This weather-resistant and insulated running jacket is purpose built to keep you going during the less-reliable months.
40 gram insulation throughout the front and sleeves holds in the body heat you worked hard for, and the rear stretch panel releases any excess warmth and moisture to prevent overheating or chills. Wind- and water-resistant nylon with a DWR finish.
Polyester blend with FlashDry wicking technology on the bottom sleeves and middle-back panel. Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation on front of body, sleeves, and back panels. Heatseeker Eco insulation is composed of 70% post-consumer recycled material.
Stand-up collar and full-length zipper provide coverage options. Partial elastic cuffs seal out drafts. Reflective hits throughout keep you visible when your runs carry into the evening.
Perfect jacket for what it is—probably wouldn’t wear it out casually—it looks nice, but, this is definitely a technical piece of gear. I was looking for something that I can run in with just one layer underneath when the weather drops below 32.
This jacket is incredible–probably would work with a technical short sleeve t-shirt for anything 32-40. I’ve been wearing with a long sleeve technical t-shirt when the weather is in the teens —yesterday with 18 mph winds it felt like 5 and I was toasty warm with just my Craft base layer.
Plenty of ventilation in the back panel —-and jacket does well to wick sweat away from base layer. Most of my trail runs are 45 minutes to an hour and a half and this jacket stays fairly dry. Best cold winter jacket I have ever owned—another winner from TNF.
5’5″ 180 – broad shoulders and athletic build and the medium fits perfect.
My cold weather runs have become so much more enjoyable in this jacket. It blocks heavy wind like a champ, and provides great warmth, especially for how thin it is. I’ve been pairing it with a warm, tight base layer for runs with strong wind and temperatures around 10F.
I’ve felt warm each time. Note that it’s definitely slim fitting. This is a plus for me (I don’t have a need to pair more than one good base layer underneath) but it might be a stretch to fit a base layer and mid layer underneath.
I have been running in this jacket since it was delivered about 3 weeks ago. It’s still super cold here in CO so I wear a down vest over it, but it’s become the perfect pair until it warms above 20 degrees! I love the color and the soft outside of the NF jacket.
Thanks for adding pockets to stuff gloves when I warm up after a couple miles. I also like that the cuffs cover well, but are not too tight as with other jackets so that I can still check my Garmin and see my stats.
I’m 5’2″ and 120 lbs. The small was an exact fit standing. But I needed more shoulder room to swing my arms so I ordered a medium and glad I did!.
Don’t let winter slow you down. This cosy, highly reflective Asics Lite Show Winter Men’s Running Jacket will protect you from the cold, keeping your run on track, no matter what the weather throws at you.
I’ve had a new lite-show jacket every winter for the past three years now and something has changed with this one to make it the best yet. The fit is less bulky so it creates a really nice silhouette and the material is lovely – it’s recycled polyester which is fantastic from a sustainability perspective but it also feels really nice to touch and is great at keeping the wind at bay.
I also love this colour – it’s slightly lighter than a traditional navy and again very flattering. It’s a very warm jacket so not one you’d wear on warmer rainy days but it’s perfect for those very very cold days – and particularly good in the Welsh mountains!.
I ordered this product just as with any ASICS jacket whether 1/4″ or 1/2″ or full zip running jacket. I’ve never had a fit issue until now. I wear a large and all my ASICS jackets have been true to size except this one.
Once the product arrived I tried it on with only a tee shirt. It fit like a medium and it was tight. The tag inside stated “L” and the outside attached tag stated “L. ” However, it’s far from it. I requested an exchange from ASICS due to the great price during the holiday.
I received anything but. The jacket is still on the web site in the “XL” size but customer support was quick to issue a refund and Fedex return label and that was all. I’m a triathlete and switched over from Adidas to ASICS ordering a lot of running shoes (4 pair per year) and apparallel.
I buy online and at the ASICS outlets in Georgia and Florida. I guess my business in no longer worthy of their attention unless I’m only buying. ASICS that is really sad and poor customer service.
I really love the fabric this jacket is made from. It’s slightly weightier than previous running jackets. It has a lovely peak built into the hood which protects you in heavy downpours. The cuffs are elasticated and have an inner thumb hook to stop the sleeves riding up.
I love to two zip pockets either side. Ideal of you want to carry your phone or a gel. All round winner for me. m.
The Impact Run Winter Jacket was designed for those cold weather warriors who don’t let the elements stop them from hitting the road. Wind-resistant polyknit fabric offers warmth and protection, while a dropped rear hem adds extra coverage.
Secure zipper pockets and side drop-in pockets offer ample storage options, while reflective hits add style to this men’s running jacket.
I absolutely love this jacket. Not only is it super lightweight and comfortable, but the style/ colorblocking of it is beautiful. There are a lot of subtle reflective points on the jacket so it doesn’t make it too overwhelming, but allows for you to easily be seen in the dark.
I’ve worn this on a couple of jogs, and it’s awesome for them because it adds no extra weight due to how lightweight it is, but it provides great protection from the elements. It’s 100% nylon. I’ve also used this jacket while playing volleyball and the material is perfect for playing since it doesn’t interfere at all with ball contact.
There’s a lot of New Branding on the jacket, but it’s done with style in mind because it suits the jacket and isn’t overwhelming in my opinion. Every opening of the jacket also provides cuffs so aside from it fitting true to size, it also doubles down on a truly snug fit but having those cuffs on the ends of the sleeve, waist, and hood.
There is one zipper pocket on the left side of the jacket and there is an added strap inside to connect your keys to or anything else you may want to take with you while on a run. For the TLDR, I’ll post the pros and cons below.
Pros: – Lightweight, made of 100% nylon – Fits true to size – I’m about 5’6″ and wear a size S. The cuffs on the end of the sleeves, waist and hood are a nice touch. The zipper also zips all the way up to your chin so it’s good on lightly windy, cooler days.
– Colorblocking/ design is beautiful and stylish. – Passed the “Laundry test” (didn’t shrink and the quality didn’t deteriorate after washing and drying multiple times) – Perfect jacket for playing any sports and for running – provides protection of light winds and has reflective points all over the jacket to make you easily seen in dark – Has one zipper pocket to further secure anything you may store in there – Good quality zippers Cons: – Some loose stitches here and there – these aren’t really present in the more crucial areas, but I have noticed some loose threads around the jacket – Only has one zipper pocket – this is more of a personal preference, but it would have been nice to have 2 zipper pockets rather than just one.
I love this jacket. Lightweight, but warm enough to run in it in -5 – 5°C without extra layering. It has 2 big zippered pockets in front that holds my phone, tissues, keys and sometimes my gloves when I got warmer.
My favorite part is the 2 side drop-in-packets that I usually use for bring a 225ml soft flask with me. The size is perfect for this purpose. Of or course for some gels if needed. On the left arm there is a plastic placed for seeing your watch without exposing your arm to the cold.
This worked for me very well in dark, when the watch screen light was strong. During daylight however it was very hard to read the face of the watch as the plastic got foggy. It has some small holes on it for trying to avoid this issue, but for me it didn’t work very well.
I went out for a point-to-point run a few weeks ago (early fall weather in the Northeast), where I could easily get away with short sleeves and shorts when out of the shade. I brought this piece with me using the fanny-pack belt feature, in case the temps went against me.
I ended up resorting to it 30 minutes before finishing up, making the last miles a bit more comfortable. It’s lightweight, slightly wind/water resistant, and is a great layering item during the transitional months of a new season.
I’ve relied on this as a great option for urban running or post-race at larger events where you might have to walk a while before returning to your belongings. It’ll make the world feel about 5 degrees Fahrenheit warmer; which at times can be all the difference!.
The ASICS Lite-Show Winter Jacket is an essential piece for throw-on cold-weather wear that transitions easily from street to gym. This midweight softshell features a warm, brushed fleece inner face and knit fleece side panels that improve range of motion.
Laminated inner pocket keeps your phone protected. Zip hand pockets hold your essentials. Adjustable cuffs and droptail hem. Body-mapped reflective elements provide 360 ° reflectivity. 72% polyester, 28% spandex.
I was a little worried purchasing this as it’s on the spenny side but ASICS have really hit the mark with this one, it’s a lightweight moveable jacket which hugs in the right places (literally feels like a hug when you zip it up) and keeps you at a lovely temperature.
It’s worth every penny. I will only use this if the temperature is in the single digits otherwise I’m too warm running. The reflective design is really nice makes you feel safe when running in the evenings or early mornings.
Washes up like a dream as well the inside is staying lovely and soft. Acts as a nice base layer in the cold weather when walking the dog as well.
Looking for a weatherproof running jacket? The men’s Canopy jacket from Brooks is a lightweight, packable layer that provides reliable protection from wind and rain while staying breathable. This jacket is sustainably made with 100% recycled materials equal to 13 plastic water bottles to reduce environmental impact.
This jacket is v lightweight but still blocks the worst of wind and some light rain. I overheat quickly and so the details like the buttons on the front that allow you to unzip without becoming a windsock are great.
Also the ability to strip it off and basically turn it into a small backpack is equally great. Finally the clip on the back to keep the hood rolled up and out of the wind is good too. This thing is so well designed that I get disappointed when it is too warm to wear it.
Bought this jacket for my husband for Christmas. When it arrived and I opened it, I immediately pulled up my order. The jacket looks like light gray/white in the photo, but I can assure you it is not.
It is a very light color with kind of green undertones with a darker green matrix/striped pattern all over. You really have to zoom in on the photo to see it. Very disappointing. Returned it the day it arrived.
Absolutely love this jacket. Bought it to use for my first 100K along the Outer Banks of NC. Specifically searched for a lightweight rain jacket since I knew temperatures would be in the upper 60s. Admittedly, I was skeptical when the jacket arrived due the the thin material.
I was pleasantly surprised when I used the jacket from mile 37-50. Kept me completely dry during a thunderstorm and the material breathes perfect! The snaps on the front allow for additional air flow.
The new version of the Proviz REFLECT360 running jacket has had many design alterations to improve its performance and give you a highly reflective jacket that will help you stand out on the roads during hours of darkness and also feel and look great.
Our designers have focused on the weight of the jacket to give you optimum comfort. It weighs in at a feather-light 170g (size variable) so that you are not weighed down by an over-bearing jacket that feels like you are running in a hiking jacket! The REFLECT360 running jacket has a super comfortable soft-mesh back and under arms that allows good airflow and all the heat that you build up to escape.
About the fabric: The reflective material gives you a 360 degree reflective surface so that any light from vehicles will reflect back to the driver and help you stand out in advance to give astonishing reflectivity’.
I rarely write product reviews, and if I did it would normally be to recommend a product or service. Unfortunately in this case I’m writing to say how disappointed I am with my REFLECT360 CRS Plus Men’s Cycling Jacket which I purchased in Sept 2020, just to wear during the occasional winter evening blast with some friends on our Mountain bikes, (we are 50+ so this is not hard core MTB) The routes being part country road where I particularly wanted to invest in some good, (if not also the best I could afford), high visibility clothing, the rest of the ride is on trials.
On the first evening out I ended up with three small tears in the jacket arms caused by passing brambles. These I managed to later ‘patch’ with invisible adhesive and glue in an effort to stop them from tearing further.
What this highlighted to me was the extremely fragile nature of the outer layer of the jackets. I raised this with Proviz Sports as I paid £120 for the jacket and was informed there was no return or replacement as the jacket had sustained abnormal wear.
I continued to use the jacket on an occasional basis, but unfortunately only 12 months on the jacket has been consigned to the bin. An expensive mistake. What Proviz should do and from what I can see have NOT done, is clearly highlight in their product description and use is how fragile the jacket is to abrasion or damage.
It is very difficult to patch or repair reliably. Once torn, it has no ripstop characteristics so will just shred. So, in Summary. Great looking jacket, comfortable to wear for light commuter cycling use.
If you fall off when wearing this jacket or plan to go MTB it will tear and thus end up unusable.
I love this jacket. I have the red one. In fact I think this is the 5th or 6th item I’ve bought from Proviz, and I will definitely be purchasing more in the future. The gear you create is ace! The only reason I didn’t give the jacket 5 stars is for two reasons.
#1 – I find the underarm zips difficult to undo. I wear the jacket in our current Brisbane winter. The zip pull tab is small and with two pairs of gloves on it is difficult to undo. Additionally the zips are difficult to pull down without stopping and lifting my arm up straight.
Doing the zips up again without stopping and taking the jacket off completely is nigh impossible as the mesh gets stuck. #2 – I am small but I am curvy. the jacket fits great in the top (I would not get a bigger size – that would be too big) but could be a bit more generous in the hips as it’s snug.
But really this is a minor thing and doesn’t prevent me wearing it almost constantly in winter. I know some customers might be put off by the price of Proviz gear but I see items like these as an investment that will last my whole cycling life – which will be long :-).
Run around 20 plus times in this jacket now and feel like I can give my feelings about it. The jacket fits kind of OK; chest arms etc all fit nice in the sense that it’s the correct size, but I feel like it’s too short and needs to go lower by another six inches and cover my bottom more when I run in the rain.
I wish there was more lining in the arms of the jacket. I cannot wear short sleeves underneath with this jacket starts to cling to you due to no lining preventing this inside. Once you get a little warm this starts to happen and for me stops my enjoyment when I run.
Also if you get warm and sweaty like me on a long run you will notice it in this jacket. On the plus side it makes you very bright so noone can miss you. Great for me as I prefer running early in the morning and this time of year.
In the rain it seems pretty good at keeping you dry enough, but haven’t been in too heavy of a downpour longer than an hour. Overall it’s a nice jacket, but I decided just to use this one for hiking instead of jogging and will continue to look for other jackets for running in.

I loved this Nike Therma-FIT Repel Run Divi! it was just what I was looking for. I love the colors too! Black and blue are my favorite colors. My husband fit in it so well. Love that it comes with a hoodie and it’s lightweight.
We buy Nike products all the time and now we have a new one to add to our collection! I would buy more of these in different colors.

You know what makes me disappointed in running jackets? No adjustable hood? even hoodies have adjustable hoods. This is a running jacket. When you run, if the hood is big, it gets blown by the wind and it will barely cover your head.
It’s very uncomfortable. Seriously it’s already 2019, and you still don’t incorporate adjustable hood in your running jacket. Have you guys tried running in this jacket during cold and slight gust condition? Kudos if you have a big head.
It’s pretty warm though. Another feature I wish this put on this are those thumb holes with built in mittens. I got the slate color and it’s more purple btw.
Really stiff material and seams. Runs a full size too small and in general just doesn’t have the “give” you’d expect from a high-end running jacket. Doesn’t seem great for blocking wind either and the hood isn’t going to keep you warm so much as it would help keep some water off your head in the rain.
I have worn the jacket about a dozen times since my purchase. Temp has been around -5C so far this winter. The jacket is light weight and the nylon panels block the wind. effectively. It is warm and a medium fits me nicely at 6ft & 185 lbs The not so good is that the same nylon panels trap moisture leaving me feeling uncomfortable by the end of run.
I would be worried how the jacket would perform at colder temps.

I simply love everything about this. The fit, the comfort & material, the features, the appearance, and so far the quality. Fit: true to size, allowing appropriate layering without compromising mobility/performance Comfort/Material: the material is like a cozy bed sheet, but more durable, and seems to be appropriately moisture wicking.
I wouldn’t try to wrestle a cactus or snuggle up to some Velcro in it, but it seems reasonably sturdy for its intended purpose. Flexibility is top notch, allowing for maximum mobility – even rushing to grab an escaped dog – without stressing the seams or increasing tension in all the places you might expect.
It’s lightweight and just warm and light enough for a cool morning jog or walk without being stifling. Features: I love the pocket within the pocket (side waist), and the thumb holes in the sleeves (don’t know if there’s a technical term for that), and the fold over cuffs are amazing!! Appearance: it’s really quite fashionable, and while the cut isn’t necessarily form fitting, it’s still not unflattering.
I prefer this fit to form fitting styles, as it’s definitely more conducive to actual movement. Quality: I can’t speak to the longevity of the item, but so far I’ve worn it multiple times, have sent it through the wash once and it’s still top notch.
I would definitely recommend this item to an active friend, and I would definitely want to purchase a replacement when the day comes.
I tend to run hot AND sweat a lot, even when it’s cold. I wore this on a hike that started out at 30 degrees and I was chilly very briefly until I warmed up, but then I was comfortable. It kept me warm when the wind blew, and wasn’t too hot when I was exerting myself and sweating.
I usually wear a 2x and got a 3x (for layering) and it was a little large, so the sizing is probably correct. The arms were long but I rolled them up. I would definitely recommend this as an outer layer for cold weather (not raining) if you need something wicking that is also somewhat breathable if you are exerting yourself.
If you’re sitting around on a break during exercise, you’ll probably need an additional layer to stay warm. I was thrilled to actually find something in athletic outerwear in my size that worked.
Haven’t worn it running yet but I love this jacket so much! Keeps me warm when it’s cold, and stays cool when it’s warm. I love that it’s light and packable, the soft material, the sleek low profile zip pockets, the slimming form– I think this is a well thought out jacket.
I’ve taken it hiking, camping, every day strolls out with the dog. The only downside is it’s too long for me personally. I’m 5’0” and the bottom covers my entire butt so it’s not super flattering and there’s so much material hanging around if I don’t have it zipped.
I’ll be crossing my fingers for a petite size but you can tell from the other reviews, it’s a great jacket!.
The running jacket for ultralight protection whatever the weather. Every element of the Weather Jacket is made with the practicalities of running in the elements in mind. Like, the cap-design of the jacket’s hood, which keeps it in place in the wet.
The pockets of the Weather jacket offer water-resistant zip protection for your valuables. And the entire jacket folds quickly into its own breast pocket, allowing for ultra-small storage and portability.
Thanks to its lightweight Japanese fabrics, the Weather Jacket offers 360° ventilation in an ultralight package that’s also tear proof and fast drying. A highly stretchable polyester and elastane fabric features a micro-ventilation-pattern for high breathability.
Four-way-stretch polyamide on the back adds protection. The advanced DWR (durable water repellent) coating ensures rain rolls off. In wild weather conditions you don’t need more distractions. The Weather Jacket is the ultralight element shield that you can forget about.
So light it feels like nothing, with protection at a level that means wind and rain won’t affect you. Perfect in changeable conditions, it’s also made light and breathable for when things warm up and can be packed quickly into its own pocket.
I love this jacket! It was more than I normally like to spend on a running jacket but after taking it out for a few runs I think it is worth it. The quality matches the prices. It fits well, looks nice, and is functional.
There is an inner mesh inside that makes it really comfortable compared to other weather running jacket’s that tend to feel like garbage bags. The cuffs are also one of my favorite parts there is a small bit of elastic to help the jacket fit well around with wrists to keep moisture out but not too tight to be uncomfortable.
Loved how this jacket looked on website, decided to purchase gray and white combo; I live in the PacNW and am always looking for good wet weather running gear. When the jacket arrived, I was disappointed in numerous ways.
First, the material is sheer and the images onsite are misleading (the material appears to be opaque). Second, I ordered my usual size S (I am 5’6″, 117lbs) and the fit was odd–body was too loose (making the silhouette unflattering) and the length was too long (I have a normal, athletic build and do not have a short torso).
Third, the hood was really heavy and when the jacket was completely zippered and the hood was not in use, the weight caused the collar to press against my neck in an uncomfortable way. Lastly, the collar/neck was stiff and the edge often suck into my chin when the jacket was zippered as pictured on the Backcountry site.
I could not convince myself that this jacket would be comfortable on a 5 mile run and for the price, this jacket needed to be perfect. Returned it to Backcountry with no regrets.
As a professional runner, I couldn’t be more content with this jacket. Very warm with a long sleeve tshirt underneath. Facility of movement is very essential not to mention how amazing it makes a person look.
I am a medium but I sized up due to winter running with layerings. If you can afford I wouldn’t hesitate a second. I am planning on buying more ON running products. Big fan now. Happy Running everyone 😁.
Stay warm and protected with Men’s Reflective Impact Run Winter Jacket from New Balance. This jacket is a cold weather must-have that is stacked with wind resistance, heat grid fabric, and a dropped rear hem to help keep you covered.
All-over reflective material adds extra visibility to this men’s running jacket.
This is a good cold weather jacket. My only complaint is that it is a it heavy, both in weight and cumbersomeness (ok, not a word) and the weight on my weekly long run if 15 miles is noticeable – not so much on my day I’ll 8 milers.
The thickness of the lining provides the warmth and I guess the bit of weight. I find the watch flap very helpful. I will certainly be happy wearing this on cold days (though not very cold and windy days as the open slits in the back to let out excess heat tend to let in a bit too much wind).
I love this jacket, mostly for the aesthetic look. It has a tailored fit and holds it shape. Not too thick and with Lots of vents and neat feature, it’s the perfect jacket for a chilly morning without risking getting way to hot as the day warms up.
Fabric might lack the stretchyness one would want for a intense athletic activities. But it looks and feels like such good quality that I honestly prefer to keep it nice and wear it as a casual business jacket.
Have used this jacket as an outer layer with 2 under layers (tight long sleeve spandex t shirt and long sleeve cool gear top) down in the low teens (snow, sleet, rain, and wind). Perfectly warm for the up to 13 miles I’ve worn it in.
Not sure if the watch window is a necessity as I usually pull the whole sleeve back to see my Apple Watch and have seen condensation on it later in the run. The only trouble with my zipper is it falling down if it’s not zipped all the way up.
The material combination and placement is perfect and would buy again.
The Nike Therma-FIT Jacket delivers a clean fit for those chilly runs. Its lightweight design helps keep you warm in cooler temperatures, with extendable cuffs and fleece along the collar for a cozy feel.
Easy-access pockets mean you can bring a key or card along for the journey. Light and Warm Nike Therma-FIT technology helps manage your body’s natural heat to help keep you warm in cold-weather conditions.
Recycled poly-fill baffles at the front and back provide lightweight warmth. Made to Move The cuffs have fleece fabric on the exterior for a soft, warm sensation. Thumbholes help extend your coverage in cool weather.
More Benefits A full-zip design lets you control your airflow. Zippered hand pockets provide easy storage. The hem hits below the hip for ideal coverage.
Very odd fit. Bodice is tight, especially in waist area. Shoulders have excess material that does not lay flat. And arms are extremely long(went several inches past my finger tips. The construction and material is nice.
The arms don’t seem like they would be as warm because there is a strip of nylon on inner portion that felt breezy even in the store. For the price point, I had higher expectations for this jacket.
I bought it while traveling because it was colder than I expected and I needed to get in an 8 mile run. I didn’t have a ton of options to choose from so could easily have wound up with something I would never wear again.
Instead this has become my go-to item. It fits beautifully. And it is the perfect weight for my winter runs in NC.
This Ronhill Tech Hyperchill Jacket is super lightweight with excellent wind protection. An ideal piece for cool or cold days. Arms, side panels and centre back is made with 100% recycled Prism fabric which has one way moisture transfer with superb thermal properties.

This was my first purchase of a waterproof running jacket after scrolling through so many reviews online of other jackets by other brands that reported to be waterproof but when reading comments turned out they weren’t completely.
For the price they were charging I took the risk on this jacket which was half the cost and i’m so pleased i did! I’ve run in torrential downpours and happy to report it does exactly what it says on the tin! It is a bit of a rustling jacket however, so if that would bug you it’s probably not the one for you, although I soon got used to it so think after a few wears you might too!.

So disappointed, the jacket is not exactly cheap as far as price goes, but is poor in quality. I bought this in October so didn’t really need it until December, at which point it was too late to return.
Short story made shorter, the seams are coming apart after less than 5 hours of light wear. I learned the lesson, you can save your money.
Amazing jacket for colder days, maybe a bit too warm for +8C and above. I like the ventilation on the back, windproof panels at right places, convenient pockets, good fit, accommodating for base and midlayer without looking baggy.

I’ve used this jacket exclusively running trails. Its lightweight, very packable, extremely breathable and waterproof. I’ve yet to use it in the winter months, but its passes the test for summer/fall running in the trails.
I had to size up by one size as it runs a little small.
Top Description New and improved with 3x more waterproof protection and breathability — the Rainrunner Pack Jacket is made from a lightweight ripstop that provides total weather protection while 360o core ventilation allows for unparalleled venting.
The unique panel venting system acts as an air-intake on the chest while the vents under the arm and across the back release heat from the core to prevent that swampy overheating of many waterproof layers.
Articulated sleeves, cuffs and hood stay in place in motion without the need for additional adjustment of bungees or pulls. Three zippered pockets — including a packable left side pocket with elastic carry strap — and a new snap closure to stow the hood make the Rainrunner an essential layer to bring wherever you go in case of variable conditions.

When there is a chance of rain, I simply throw this rain jacket in my pack or tie it around my weight. It is very light and has amazing ventilation. I was especially impressed by the waterproof pockets.
I have used this in the biggest downpours and stay dry underneath every time. I highly recommend this jacket. It is an amazing combination of lightweight, ventilated, and even has pockets. It has all the features of much more expensive rain jackets and performs as well or better.
I agree with most of the reviewers about the good fit and material and the awesome venting. I’m surprised that no one else has commented on the problematic hood that is completely non-adjustable. The hood is large on my head, and without any way to tighten it I have a hard time keeping the hood out of my eyes (especially when turning to look for traffic).
Folding up the brim helps a little, but the hood should be adjustable as its a critical component of a rain jacket.
I know. it’s expensive. But it is worth it. For someone like myself who lives in a cold rainy city, this jacket does it’s job in keeping me dry. And the slits around the chest provide a good amount of ventilation.
Feom the photos and first examining the jacket, I thought that it would not retain any warmth due to the number of slits, but I realize that this isn’t the case. It is extremely lightweight. The pockets are plentiful.
A+ Only gripe comes in the strap found in the pocket used to put around arm when stuffed away. It seems to be losing its elasticity after only a few uses. Maybe next jacket will come with two straps for better hold?.
The inov-8 Stormshell FZ Jacket for men is a waterproof and breathable running jacket. The jacket protects you when running in colder, autumn-like weather conditions. The running jacket is comfortable, has a fashionable look and an adjustable hoody.
The windproof jacket weighs 150 grams and is breathable.
I bought this jacket as a rain jqcket So far I’ve worn it in light rain, not heavy so I don’t know if the waterproofing will stand up to that. The zips are tight and close fitting. The jacket had a snug fit and I’m not a big guy so if you’re planning to wear much more than a thinnish base layer then order a size up.
My only dislike is the hood storage. The hood folds in and is retained by a clip. Id have preferred it to be stowed in a more secure way.
Now don’t go wasting this on a slightly damp, kind of chilly day – it’s too much and you get a bit hot in it. However when the wind picks up, the rain starts going horizontal and youre starting to shiver, game on! Its perfect in tough conditions, feels super lightweight but keeps the wind and rain out.
I bought this jacket for running in the rain, snow and winter. I am 6’2″ and 175lbs and a size large fits great. It is a slim fit athletic jacket but still works well with a layers under as long as they are not too bulky.
I have only used it twice but so far I love it. The fit is great and not restrictive at all when you run. Used it on a run in the rain/snow and kept dry and warm. The jacket breathes really well while keeping you dry in the rain and snow.
Made for cold-weather runs, lululemon’s Cross Chill jacket is panelled from RepelShell fabric with a fleece-backed interior to keep you warm, dry and focused. 85% nylon, 15% elastane, 100% polyurethane, 95% polyester, 5% elastane.
Like other reviewers mention, there is a design flaw and your arms will get wet running in this. When your arms are relaxed to your side, they are protected with the waterproof material, but when your arms are positioned for running, the inside of your forearms, which have the fleece material (not waterproof) are what take the brunt of the rain.
I wore this on a bike ride and my arms stayed dry because of the position they’re in with flattop handlebars. I suspect those with drop bars would experience the same issue as runners. But if you get over the notion that this is a water resistant jacket, then it’s a fantastic top layer! I have worn this over swiftly long sleeves between 37 and 57 degrees and been comfortable each run.
Maybe a little warm on the sunny 50-degree day, but not enough for me to need to take it off. I like the fleece lining – it’s not so thick or plush that sweat just sits on it and feels wet, like most fleece, but it’s not straight skin on a plastic-y feeling shell which causes you to sweat uncontrollably.
It’s absorbent, breathable, but warm. The curved shape of the hem that drops down to cover your bum is nice for both modesty and some weather protection, especially when cycling. The watch window is a nice idea but poorly executed – the zipper is hard to zip back up with one hand.
I don’t use it personally because I wear my watch on my right wrist. Cuffins would have been nice, but since sizing up the sleeves are long so I can bunch the material over my hands for warmth. I sized up and it’s definitely baggy all over, but it’s not unflattering.
My issue is I have a short torso and wide hips, so jackets that are too tight at the hem tend to sit on top my hips, causing the fabric to bunch and create a pouch at my stomach. The 8 hangs beautifully.
For reference I’m 5’6″, 135 lbs, size 6 in most tops and bottoms. I for sure looked at this jacket solely for the Wheat color and love it. It’s a bright, visible color without being an obnoxious highlighter yellow.
I was really excited about this jacket and am still giving it 4 stars even though I returned it. It’s exactly the style and silhouette I’m going for. I love that it’s waterproof and warm, although it has minimal fleece inside, so the fabric isn’t thick.
I LOVE IT. The only thing I really don’t love is that the jacket arrived stuffed into a tiny bag and was significantly wrinkled when it arrived, to the point that the resultant creases in the fabric look permanently embedded in the fabric.
Really a shame because I was looking forward to a nice, crisp jacket and I don’t think this can be worn in this condition. except Lululemon sizing is BIZARRE. I have had to return thousands of dollars in purchases over the past couple of months because the sizing for upper body garments is so inconsistent.
I live over 1000 kms from the closest Lululemon store so I’m unable to try anything on before purchasing online. I rely heavily on the size guide which is almost 100% wrong every time. I don’t understand why one size 10 shirt is too tight on me, another shirt in size 10 is baggy and frumpy, and a size 10 jacket is way too big.
and bras? Forget it. I can’t make sense of it. I tried using my regular bra size as a guide (after a professional fitting) and Lululemon items in that size are WAY off. So it’s a great jacket and will probably be wonderful for running.
It’s also perfect for my mild yet very wet climate. I took off a star for the ridiculous sizing. I hate that I can’t enjoy things I buy from this company because over 50% of the things I buy don’t end up fitting correctly, EVEN THOUGH I already own Lululemon items and should be able to make decisions based on the fit of previous items.
and the size chart shouldn’t be that complicated to figure out.
Wanted to love this for upcoming cold weather running season. As another reviewer said the white color is not all one color white. The front and back panels of the weather proof material is an off white cream to light yellow cream.
I was hoping for all white color. It’s not like the model picture online, it’s 2 different color whites that don’t match. Also runs almost 2 sizes small. I sized up one size from my normal lulu size and it’s super slim almost too tight fitting.
Will be returning, not worth $200 IMO. Maybe better to get one of the other colors and size up 2 times.
There are a few key things to look for when purchasing a cold weather running jacket. Firstly, you’ll want a jacket that is wind and water resistant. Secondly, you’ll want a jacket that is well insulated and will keep you warm even when wet.
Finally, you’ll want a jacket that is comfortable to wear and won’t restrict your movement. With so many different jackets on the market, it can be difficult to know which one to choose. However, if you keep these key factors in mind, you’ll be sure to find the perfect cold weather running jacket for you.
