20 Best Cold Air Intake Tacoma (2023 Updated)

Only reason I’m not giving this 5 stars is because after I installed it, I bought the RedRock version for my brother for his birthday… And there’s literally no difference between the two except the brand name.

Don’t get me wrong, K&N make amazing products and in the right application I’m all for K&N!… But in a Jeep Wrangler with a 3. 6L V6, all you’re really getting is a nice growl under the hood and an extra MPG or two.

I’m curious to see if the CAI makes a bigger improvement in MPG when I get one for my current wrangler. I installed this in my last 2DR Wrangler on stock tires/wheels and (when I wasn’t pushing the pedal to the floor to hear the roar lol) I was able to squeeze 20.

5-21. 0mpg. I’ve now got an Unlimited on 18” aftermarket wheels wrapped in 35’s, so we’ll see! All in all, it looks nice under the hood and when you’re merging onto the interstate it sounds super sweet….

I just don’t think I would spend over double on the K&N brand again after getting the same results from the RedRock.

First, my negative aspects: the kit appeared to be a very easy install; which it should have been. Unpacking the kit and assembling the subcomponents into the larger assemblies, one of the capscrews was incorrect.

It was the wrong thread pitch, leaving me to scrounge for the correct capscrew. I was less upset that I found this out before completely disassembling my vehicle. And, to add to the negative, the fasteners are not standard fasteners.

I do not mean SAE or metric, but standard stainless fasteners. The fasteners are an aluminum blend. I found this out when I attempted to use a magnetic retriever to find the nut when it fell underneath a fluid reservoir.

These items may seem mundane, but for the money spent, there should have been no issues. The pros: minus the issues above, it is truly a simple installation. Once installed, the truck had different sound, and actually gained a little power at two separate RPM bands.

So far, the MPG seemed to have increased, but that it also dependent upon the foot and the gear.

I would like to give a 5 star for the performance it delivers. however, K&N seriously need to up their quality control. My unit came with scratches, it almost looks like they re-sprayed a return unit and sold it as new.

The paint covered the screw hole. The female screw also had paint inside, where I had to dig it out. The 3 screw part attached to the casing needs to be more flush. or K&N needs to provide a rubber sealer because after assembling it, you can see some gaps there.

I’m not sure if it will have any effect on the performance, but if it is meant to be held together, wouldn’t you want it to be sealed? Otherwise great product.

I love this combination for cold air intake. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. It’s a super simple kit to install and takes basically no time at all. Really cleans up under the hood without leaving a tacky look.

When the install is complete it’ll still look pretty much like an oem set up. I think only a Gearhead would notice the difference. I have great throttle response and when I really get into it for passing or entering Interstate it sounds like a four-barrel carburetor opened up on a hot rod.

I don’t know about gas mileage I haven’t checked it I’m not sure about horsepower either but what I do know is I’ve got great throttle response and the truck just seems to be more alive. I just don’t think you can go wrong with this mod unless unless you just want to spend a lot of money.

Put this on my 2022 Tacoma recently along with the Toyota intake air accelerator and I was pretty surprised how much engine noise I could here, lower rpm’s it’s barely noticeable but if if you step on it wow it’s actually sounds pretty cool for a little v6 with a stock exhaust.

As far as performance I did notice a little more response in the pedal, a little more torque in the low rpm range and I gained. 5-1 mile to the gallon on the highway. around town it’s about the same as stock.

I would say the high flow filter alone is worth the price tag. Just get the kit already.

If you live in a CARB state this is the K&N product for you. No modifications needed, this is a direct fit. I had to trim the crankcase vent tube as it was a little to long and the orientation was not correct.

This is due to the new intake tube shape. You will notice more throttle response and increased horsepower as per K&N.

This intake has been installed on a 2011 3. 8 V6, with a standard transmission, 91 Octane fuel, and Diablosport 91 Octane tune. Came up and over Raton Pass from the north side in 4th gear and it passed everything and it just sucked in more air and up an over no TORQUE Drop, its was wanting more at crest.

It was like wild horses, this engine can do do so much more than the factory supplies with that dog of a tune. You can get a performance boost by burning 91 Octane fuel, but the mileage is still poor Where its 16 city and 19 highway,.

With just the tune and 91 octane fuel I was 21 24 mpg out on the road. Now with the cold air intake 24 to 27 with 30 being seen for wide stretches. Live in the desert with large elevation changes. This intake has added power; like I say was not disappointed, thrilled actually; Torque Drop is a thing of the past.

Easy install, though the mounting bolt for the block cannot be removed on my Jeep, I just loosened it and cut the bracket so that the hole was now a slot, slid it behind and tightened. Also slotted the upper end so that I could position it for best fit and snugged it then tightened.

Fits like a glove. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.

I was disappointed by both the MPG and the performance of my Tacoma when I first purchased it, and this thing fixes both! I went from 17 MPG on the highway to 22 by installing this. It also sounds incredible, especially with the pedal commander.

I don’t have any dyno information, but having worked on cars all my life, this upgrade seemed to produce more power than previous CAI’s. It was very easy to install and shouldn’t take more than an hour, even if you haven’t worked on cars before.

I’ve done some off-roading and the filter still looks remarkably clean, too (I live in NV and am mostly on desert trails. ) Highly recommend!.

Installed on 2019 Tacoma. Anyone with a little mechanical knowhow should be able to install themselves. Instructions can be a little vague so finding a video on YouTube will help. Took me about 1 1/2 hours.

It was a surprise just how much it changed my truck. At 3000RPM is where it seems to kick in and you can hear the change, it’s real loud when you get on the throttle. Also a noticeable improvement on MPG if you drive normal long enough lol.

Had it installed a year ago. No change in performance or gas mileage. Made a cool sound on acceleration. That is until I decided to change out the filter. Opened the box and the filter was half off the intake port.

Had very little dirt in it. How long off is anyones’ guess. Reinstalled, but tightening the clamp made the bottom slip off the port. Had to make a wedge to hold it in place. The cool sound on accelerating is greatly diminished now.

I suggest anyone purchasing one of these will have to be mindful to check the fitment regularly-or listen for that loud intake noise.

Installation was kind of straightforward. The new intake doesn’t have a spot for one of the sensors/vacuum hose so keep that in mind when installing this, the new spot is on the valve cover. Also be careful when tightening the 2 ports on the intake because the part it screws into is very brittle, it broke for me and ended up using JB weld to fix it.

Other than that, sounds good when accelerating.

Overall the Airaid box is nicely built, but there’s a couple of manufacturing flaws. First the hardware was incorrect, I had to buy larger washers to using with the supplied bolts. Next, there’re a significant gab along the air intake scoop, I had to use silicone to close off any potential leaking points.

In addition, the air temp sensor on my 2017 Wrangler didn’t have a bracket that could be bolts onto the Airaid intake tube, I had to come up with a bracket to properly secure the sensor to the tube. Once properly installed the intake works well, there’s a nice bump in throttle response in the mid-power band, which is typically where my Jeep lags.

There’s also a nice bump in power on the higher-end of the revs and you can hear a slight rush of air into the system. In the end, the intake provides a nice increase of air flow to the engine, but the kit needs some work when it comes to hardware and fitment.

All the necessary attachments were included to make it street legal, ie-CARB decal, mass air flow sensor hook-up, hoses and fittings, etc. The system is made of hard plastic, aluminum and metal that look sturdy and will last a long time.

The system fitted perfectly into the throttle intake and was configured correctly into the engine bay. I calculated 1-2 mpg increase. The systems sounds deep when accelerating and feels smoother, thus more torque-power.

It’s only been a month after installation and I think there is more to be observed. Overall I am satisfied.

The intake is great it sounds cool and I can feel the difference with my truck. It was getting a little older and so every little bit counts 🙂 I have to admit I was a little disappointed that the intake tube was actually made of plastic.

I am sure there is no difference in performance or anything. Probably even saves weight. Just seemed a little cheap when I pulled it out of the box.

Its an overall pretty good product. I installed the Gen 2 FIPK on my 1998 2. 7L 4WD Tacoma. The one I have is black plastic. I read that K&N made the black plastic ones because the were quieter than the metal ones.

I actually wish I could hear mine more. It was fairly easy to install as long as you have the right tools. I do and it took about 1. 5 to 2 hrs. I originally got it to increase gas milage but now I’m constantly tempted to put the pedal down.

Thats not conducive to my original plan. Its a great product but don’t plan on it giving you all that it claims. I went with K&N because its trusted and its warranted. Its a good choice.

I combined the Flowmaster Delta Force Cold air intake with the Flowmaster dual axle exhaust together. I got some performance, torque, and horsepower going uphill. The car sound with both is awesome.

This was easy to install and did just what I wanted. Throttle response is so much better even when I’m not stomping on the gas pedal and, when I’m keeping my foot out of the gas, I’m seeing about 2 MPG improvement.

This cold air intake, coupled with the Flowmaster Outlaw axle back muffler I installed at Christmas, is adding power and a nice tone to the sound of the Jeep! And when you do stomp on it, you get the sound of an old school 4 barrel carb opening up stage 2! I love it!.

Installation was simple. Took about 30mins to complete. I was amazed at the increased throttle response! Completely changed the exhaust tone. Much deeper and sounds awesome when you hit the gas peddle.

Easy to install. The mounting holes didn’t line up exactly. It was kind of frustrating but wasn’t too bad. Just keep all 3 mounting bolts loose until you get them all set. Also, I found that if I had driven the center mounting bolt into the correct mounting position before actually installing the air box itself, I could save a bunch of time.

That set of threads had not been previously used on the truck so there was a bit of paint/liner and a plastic cap in the threads from factory that made it impossible for the threads to start. Didn’t realize that was adding to the frustration of the fact that the holes don’t line up.

So, drive the center bolt to break in the threads, then pull it back out. Set your air box… Set your lowest bolt first, then top, then middle. Then tighten them down without pulling grommets thru. All in all wasn’t too bad.

Just installed 2 days ago. Receive 2 products, a wrangler version and then the Tacoma version. ET was able to phone home and send out a replacement in 2 days. Great job ET support! Installed on 2018 Tacoma SR5 V6.

First glance, looks great and well made. Listening to the CAI is definitely a more aggressive feel, powerful sound, and breathing beautifully. That was my biggest concern with OEM acceleration, it didn’t feel like I was able not open up the engine and get out the gate of passing without a sluggish delay.

This S&B CAI, changes all that. It’s newly install and first drive, look, feel, & sound. I love it. Great job ET! Now off to exploring the next round of ET parts in this universe. ??.

Better throttle repesponse and a little more engine noise. Power seems to be a little more linear as well. MPG has imporoved, but it’s still hot here in the South. Colder weather should only make it better when I take the plug out.

Only wish there was a ram intake option like the Tacoma version or the Stillen. Still very happy with the purchase, would recommend to anyone looking to open up their engine just a little. Side note, actually getting the bottome bolts started was pretty tough.

Box is off to the right about an inch to an inch and a half. May be the intake gasket against the originial hole for the intake on the frame.

All I can say is definitely get this intake! I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this intake and was a bit skeptical of the not so good reviews with missing parts, intake not lining up correctly with the throttle body, to the MAF sensor not mounting flush to the intake tube.

Well you can throw all those reviews out the door! If you have a 2012 TACOMA with the 4. 0L then this intake was made specifically just for you! Great sounding intake at WOT but quiet at cruzing speeds! Get this CAI!!.

Not even sure I am getting the power or fuel economy advertised. The real issue for me was the half ass instructions provided. I used a lot of common sense to bypass the frustration caused by their instructions.

The biggest issue was the time it took to figure out how to get the air filter on within the air box. I used WD40 to lubricate the edges, after fighting it for a good 40 minutes. Later read others cut their filters.

I don’t recommend that. Overall the jury is still out on this.

The Volant CAI system was relatively straight forward to install. In fact, most of the time was spent on removing the OEM intake system and components. The Volant CAI looks great in the engine bay and performs as expected.

There is definitely a noticeable “growl” under the hood at wide open throttle and heavy acceleration. Would definitely recommend this product to those considering an aftermarket intake upgrade!.

after inspecting and opening the box. i had all the parts to do the installing of it. after the installation i started the truck up and there was a total transformation from the stock air intake to this Airaid air box.

i had to try this because i put a fresh new 5. 4 liter motor into my 1998F-150. everything is new in my truck and i could not see using the old parts for this complete build i’ve been doing. i don’t even have 200 miles on the motor as of yet and the Airbox sure makes the best amount of horsepower produced out of the motor now.

i am so happy by the results i’ve got so far. i am not disappointed for anything i’ve been doing at this point of my build. so far i’m really pleased by all the results of the whole build. i can’t complain one bit.

the results of everything says it all. time to install this was just a few hours. but expect maybe 3-4 hours if you take your time and think about doing things right and not miss one step….

This Airaid Cold Air intake is straight up money! It’s a little more pricey than some of the cheaper models, but in my opinion totally worth it. The instructions were better than ANY instructions for Jeep modifications on any product I’ve ever purchased.

The intake fit exactly in and lined up with every bolt hole. It took me maybe 30-minutes to install and it gave me a nice power boost and fuel efficiency. You can hear the intake pull air into the engine with every gear.

I installed this part on my 2004 GMC Sierra with the 5. 3 Vortec V8. Installation was easy and straight forward. I noticed an increase in power and smoother idle instantly. I can’t tell whether I’m getting better mileage yet.

The only thing I had to do was shorten the hose from the intake to the manifold, otherwise I would suggest this part to anybody interested in improving performance on these trucks.

Had lil reservations on buying this kit due to its dreaded check engine light. However, so far after 300 miles (07 4×4 4. 0 Tacoma). no light yet. I made sure to seal the screws to install the MAF sensor on the intake tube with thread sealant, as to prevent any unnecessary air flow due to the screws goin in thru the tube (too long).

As far as performance goes. More improved throttle response was observed. Especially in the low range area, more apparent during mid range. Of course, as expected with more air flow to the throttle body means more fuel needed to compensate.

I noticed a slight decrease in MPG (1-2). If gas prices reaches the $5 mark, i may have to reinstall my stock intake. I love the design of this particular kit, it looks nice when viewing the engine bay.

Overall, since theres no engine light (so far), im happy i bought this kit.

Looks great. Works great. Sounds great. Not sure if it has helped mpg but definitely more hp. I had to start over after I was almost finished bc of something that was confusing to me in installation instructions.

It is just a pic diagram. Make sure you put the cushion lining on FIRST before installing the hole thing!! Not a big deal, I just screwed up. However, I think if the pic would have resembled the actual piece I was putting on, it would have been easier.

My 06 toyota tacoma sounds amazing.

AutoAnything did a good job of getting the Volant CAI to me very quickly – that was impressive. However when I opened the box I discovered that there were absolutely no instructions WHATSOEVER! Volant did include a schematic of how the intake fits together but nothing on how to fit it to my Tacoma, but I am fairly mechanically inclined so I figured it out anyhow.

Still, that’s poor documentation, hence only 4 stars. It is also louder than I expected on acceleration, but at cruise and normal acceleration there isn’t that much added noise, just a low growl. As for PERFORMANCE.

this baby ROCKS! Much quicker acceleration! Woo hoo! And I’m sure I’ll eventually see increased MPGs if I can keep my foot out of the accelerator?! Right. All in all I think it is a good investment. Side note.

I spoke to Daniel at Volant today about the fit of the air box against the fender wall of the Tacoma, since it doesn’t seal out the engine compartment air nearly as well as the OEM filter setup. His response was that they had one of the original X-Runners to work with when they designed the CAI and there was a pipe of some sort welded/affixed to the fender wall, so all they needed to do was put a hole in the side of the CAI Volant to attach it.

He said that Toyota (in their infinite wisdom) decided to remove this welded fender wall pipe thingy in the later model Tacomas so now there is no real seal to the fender wall which really sucks! The factory setup has it’s own pipe attachment.

Daniel suggested that I use dryer vent hose to fabricate my own?!?! Now there’s some customer service! NOT! He said that Volant is redesigning the box for future Tacomas, but it won’t be out for about 6 months, and I doubt that they’ll notify customers that purchased the first “flawed” unit.

I did find out that Volant is designing a ram air attachment when I asked what the extra hole that on the front of the CAI box was for. Now that sounds like a cool addon to the CAI box. I wonder if AutoAnything will carry it.

If you have the slightest mechanical ability and a few tools you can install this kit. That being said this one could use a little redesign. The cutting of the factory snorkel is not a huge deal but Airaid could easily just include a bolt on snorkel or redesign the air box so it accepts the stock as a bolt on without cutting it up.

I would pay extra not to have to irreversibly modify my stock box. This would also save on the half tube of silicone you will use trying to seal the joint where the air box meets the stock snorkel – the gaps are large.

Looks good and functions well after its on but takes a fair bit of time to waterproof (cure and dry) that could be avoided with an additional part or box redesign. More work than necessary from the installation end.

I received my order and found everything packaged very well. All the items arrived on time. Removal of the OEM air box went very fast. Take care not to damage the OEM air temp sensor when removing it or when installing it on the new intake system.

Install was very easy. Took me about 3 hours to complete but part of that time was spent locating needed tools. I failed to do this before starting the install. I must say I was very presently surprised with the performance improvement of my Rubicon.

I did install the Airaid Throttle Body Spacer and a Super Chips TrailDash2 computer with 87oct tune at the same time. My low end torque is now back to where it was before I installed 35s on my Jeep. Gas mileage improved 2mpg.

I do attribute my experience to the fact I installed all three items at the same time. Next, I cant wait to find a CARB (California Approved) header exhaust system and see just what this Jeep can do.

Installing this intake was a breeze. The hardest part was removing the Mass Airflow Sensor from the stock intake. You have to lift it over the tab and then turn it in the direct of the tab. Be careful or it’ll break.

After that, installing this Injen part is very straightforward. Whole install, from beginning to end took about an hour – and that’s because of the sensor removal. Sounds way better even an low RPM, which I really like because this way I don’t have to floor the pedal to hear the intake.

However, once you really get on it then the intake opens up more. Cannot really speak for the performance gains since I didn’t purchase it for this aspect. I have not seen any significant MPG gains/losses.

Very happy with this purchase. Install took about a half hour. As others have noted only issues I ran into were getting the temp sensor out of the stock intake tube, be very careful not to break. I recommend unpluging the sensor first, take the tube out, then remove the sensor.

The other issue I noted was in the install instructions and suggest you install the rubber boot to new intake tube first rather than the intake itself. By following the instructions in the order they gave, I was unable to get the boot on the new intake tube, as it kept sliding off.

As far is performance and gas mileage, too new to tell. I do like the sound of the new intake under power.

Install is the easiest thing ever, all you need is a flat head and an allen key. Noticed gains immediately after installing. It’s a jeep so I’m not talking about improved 0-60 times lol. Before I had it I was getting very frustrated with my jeep shifting down on slight uphill highways.

It was always me fighting the car to try to keep it in a gear it didn’t want to be in. After install though I found I could actually use 4th gear way more effectively than before. I was honestly surprised how much less frequently the car shifts now, it can actually stay in 4th and accelerate on uphills now without downshifting.

Added Bonus: a subtle but pleasing engine addition to engine sound at higher rpms.

I bought a cheaper intake first thinking way water the extra money…. wrong! The fit sucked and the sound was bleh…. so I spent the extra money on this one… Honestly you can’t go wrong with flowmaster…I have the cat back 40 series off road exhaust and this complete the whole note…not only does my engine sound beefy but I notice a difference in the exhaust tone too…the gains from both are probably not too much to brag but I live the look of both and the exhaust is nicer tucked up out of the way.

Made a marginal difference in power. Seems to run better at highway speeds. Less downshifting on minor hills.

I did have a stock paper filter on prior to install but this is a huge improvement regardless. Sounds amazing!! More throttle response and power felt throughout the entire range immediately, no dyno required to confirm this adds power and torque, it is obvious.

Looks great too, with perfect install instructions although fairly straightforward anyway. Looked and compared for months wanting the best bang for the buck and I’m convinced this is it. Sounds like a turbo with the hood open it really sucks the air in aggressively.

This is a solid, well made product with one small exception. The rubber boot that connects the intake tube to the throttle body is too short. When connecting the boot to the throttle body first and then trying to attach the tube, it would slip off when tightening the clamp.

I had to attach the tube to the rubber boot first and then to the throttle body to keep the tube from slipping out. Injen should have made the rubber boot a little longer to eliminate this issue. The rest of the installation is simple.

When installed, the intake looks and sounds great but I keep wanting to check the rubber boot to make sure it hasn’t slipped off.

Very easy to install, thanks to other reviews I anticipated trouble with the air temp sensor and had already put some thought into it so I put a bit of dish soap on my finger and rubbed it inside the gasket.

The sensor slipped right in place with no trouble. It was harder to get it out of the stock intake hose. I also had to remove the belt in order to get the bolt for the bracket out because of the washer being fixed onto the bolt; I might have been able to force it but Murphy’s law and I are well acquainted and I didn’t want to bugger up the threads.

Overall it was one of the easier upgrades I’ve added and I noticed an increase in gas mileage and a slight amount of pickup and throttle response.

Product is perfect for someone who does not want a snorkel but wants to improve or change up air flow. The OEM air box really chokes your engine for air. This one opens up to total flow and improves your performance at altitude.

For install on my 3. 8 V6 I had to do a little bending of the bracket to make it fit correctly but nothing too crazy.

Package arrived on time and was well protected. The install took about an hour. It would have been quicker, but the bolt that holds support brace was tough to get off the engine block. A second challenge was plugging the sensor into the new intake.

The rubber ring kept popping back into the new intake pipe. Red intake pipe land filter look great and are made well. The car seems to have more pep while driving and sounds a little more aggressive.

Easy to install added horsepower better fuel mileage. While I was installing this It made since to do the throttle body spacer as well everything was out of the way. Took some time to get everything fired right but when done everything was tightly in its place.

If your state requires CARB numbers you have to go to AFE’s website and submit for the stickers I got mine in 2 days.

Made just ok not great in my opinion, has it’s pros and cons. Straps are top notch plastic molding on tube is solid not a fan on how filter connects to air box and its design. Sounds more aggressive than stock but not obnoxious.

On my beltronix G2 performance tracker showing up 10 less horsepower. 10 seconds slower 0 to 60. But tires seam to spin a little more so that could be a factor. Bought with AFE mach exhaust have not had a chance to install yet.

Will be today. With exhaust might make a bigger difference. Have ran the KandN And Valant cold air intakes also and personally think both of them are better bag for your buck at full price. Got these on sale so can’t complain still a good intake.

This product was exactly as described definitely gave the engine more air, and more throttle response and maybe a little more kick. I don’t know if it increase gas mileage yet. Also sounds great. All parts are included “except for the rubber bushings” needed to mount new intake system from your factory air filter box.

If you don’t have the factory air box, you can finding replace bushings plenty of them in the wrecking yard for about $7 set you pull yard.

I received this for my birthday and was able to install it the next day in well under an hour. My only issue with the install was connecting the housing to the throttle body, but I just reversed the instructions and attracted it first to the throttle body and then to the intake tube.

Outside of that, it was very easy! I notice a huge difference in the HP and the sound! I love this Mod and would recommend it to everyone!.

Adds a little more torque and horse power in the mid range. Easy to install. Sounds better than factory

Some finesse was required with enlarging the mass flow sensor hole, to fit the sensor, as from the factory, the hole was too small on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler X, 3. 8. But new performance curve was worth the time.

I am now installing a free flow exhaust, to compliment the new intake, so together, they may breathe effortlessly.

It seems everyone buys CAI’s because they make a cool sound. I wanted something that would add performance. Nobody’s going to mistake a CAI for a procharger, but I did notice better performance with this unit.

I believe the additional air captured by the ram air intake shroud plays a role. As for the sound, yes. It absolutely sounds awesome. I’ve also noted an increase in gas mileage of 1. 75-2. 25 mpg over the past month since the install.

Highly recommended.

I have tested the Evolution against the stock air box and the TRD CAI and there’s a huge difference – you can feel it more so in a manual transmission Tacoma. Your truck will bog down under 1500 RPMs going anywhere and definitely up any incline – not so with the Injen Evo CAI.

I can pull in 6th going uphill at 1200+RPM. And the difference is even more pronounced if you have the KDMax performance tune for your Tacoma. This is a must have mod hands down.

Installed this on my 2020 TRD Off-Road and notice the pick up right away. The truck definitely breathes better and sounds like a beast. Easy to install and super fast shipping. Love the look. Watch the video for better understanding of the installation.

I was going to purchase the K & N cold air intake with the dry filter I think it was $350+ I did plenty of research & the reviews on Extreme Terrain were helpful as well. I chose to go with the INJEN.

The cost matched the quality and performance of my Tacoma. $100 more for an outstanding cold air intake. Extreme was spot on with shipping: my package arrived undamaged with simple instructions. I also watched the YouTube how to video.

I was confident I could do the install in 30-45 mins. I had all the necessary tools. I had one setback- I started at dusk outside in my driveway, then of course my socket didn’t lock on to the ratchet and fell into to engine block which added some time and darkness.

Took me 1 hr and 30m due to those challenges. I should have done it sooner or at my firehouse bay. You can hear the cold air pulling in and it has an awesome growl to it now. I am glad I spent a tad more because it was worth it every penny.

Install was straightforward. It is a booger to get the air temp sensor out of the OE stock tube to use it in the this one. Using delicate force is tricky. Just be patient and purposeful – know where your plier/channel locks are at all times! After install, it definitely brings a rumble from under the hood when you put your foot into it! Even better letting it wind up when you have a stick shift 🙂 As for MPG, I have seen a 1.

5 MPG improvement since installing (45 days now). Which means a payback of 30,000 miles at $2/gallon gas. The biggest bang for the buck for me was the noticeable pickup in torque (??). When I pulled off my OEM rims and put 35’s on it (no other mods at the time), it was a little sluggish.

I was looking at going to 4. 66 gears, but after this install Ima gonna wait a while as it does have a more noticeable pep in the step.

if you want a loud intake at full throttle, this is your baby. i love injen because they are made very well and perform like none other. seat of the pants performance is positively big difference. gas mileage up 1.

5mpg. i have one on my supercharged cobalt ss and it was an extra 17hp on the dyno. it was easy to install with no problems at all. less then an hour and your on your way.

I installed this in about 50 minutes. The downloaded instructions from SB were fine. The only issue I had was cutting the clip for the turbo resonator. But, once I twisted it off I was good. The video on ET says to reuse the factory bolts at a couple of places.

It was easier reusing the factory bolts. THE install was straight forward and no check engine light afterwards!! Woo WOO You can tell the difference in sound and you can feel a little peppier. But that might be me just expecting that.

ThHere is so much more space for the air to move through this device, as well. Love it. Will be installing the Turbo Blow off valve upgrade next weekend. Suppose to make a huge difference in sound and quickness.

We shall see. But for this device I highly recommended it. Even though it is steep in price, I am betting it will be worth it. Then again, if it comes down to getting another mod or this one, I may have to go with the other one, depending on what it is.

This is a nice “extra” thing to have. Not a necessity, by any means. But it does make your engine bay growl just by being there!! Will post pics as soon as I figure out where to post them.

I bought this to replace the TRD factor cold air intake system in my truck that was broken and being held together with hopes and dreams. Installations of the S&B was pretty straight forward and took me less than an hour start to finish (not including a trip to the parts store).

Build seems pretty high quality, I just had 2 minor issues. 1) Would have preferred the seal to the fender to have been a grommet style like the oem one, it does seem to seal up against it pretty well though.

2) The plastic thread in nipple for the vacuum line broke as soon as I tried to put the line on it. I did not contact customer service, just went to parts store and got a brass one for under $5 I cannot tell if there was any performance gain as i already had a CAI, however fuel economy seems to have gone up a bit.

All said, I would recommend this to anyone looking to replace their factory air intake.
