Best Christian Books For Toddlers (2024 Updated)

Provides great segues for discussions with young children about the uniqueness of people in other cultures and ethnic groups, and how we can love and appreciate them just like Jesus does. And it’s fun to sing to the familiar tune!.

If you are looking for a book that shows some diversity in the characters in the story this is an excellent selection for that. The story is a quick and easy read for little ones and my niece was very pleased with the gift.

Ordered several books for little ones so they could learn to enjoy reading. Did this for a grown granddaughter and she was reading by herself by age 3!

My kids love this devotional. they would probably have me read through a month at a time if I would do it. We use it as a morning devotional. It is more of an application of Biblical principles type of book (Give cheerfully, don’t brag, care about others, etc.

), which is a great addition to the Bible story time we have at night. Adorable illustrations with 4 cute little characters who remain consistent throughout the book.

This book is what I’ve been looking way. Its a beautiful book. well written and wonderfully illustrated. The words are simple for my 2 year old to understand and each days reading is not too long so it can keep her attention.

There is a little story which she can relate with easily and message to relate it to the word of God. there is a bible verse at the end and a short rhyming prayer to say together at the end. Its just fantastic.

My best buy this year. I will be using it every day with my morning routine.

Low rating is only because the binder was damaged in shipment. Should have been shipped in a box and not padded envelope. The envelope was torn completely through and book was a gift. Had to return book at Walmart and replace with a different book.

Unfortunately, they were out of this same book. Book itself is very colorful and would’ve purchased the same book if available.

Overall this Bible story book is good. However, I sent it back because the stories of Adam and Eve and Noah’s Ark don’t mention anything about sin. It just skips over that major part of the stories. I know it’s trying to be kid-friendly, but kids should be learning about how we are imperfect people which points them to our need for a Savior.

My child received this as a gift, and she actually loves flipping through and looking at the illustrations. The book’s construction is good, too, with a soft cover and glossy moisture-resistant pages.

However, I am so disappointed with the content of the stories that I often ad-lib the Bible stories that go with each picture instead of reading the words out loud. The stories are so sugar-coated that they leave out essential plot points, such as the forbidden fruit and Jesus’ death on the cross.

I love this Bible. Very appropriate for my four year old daughter. I bought one for four year old my niece that does not get consistent Biblical teaching. This toddler Bible gives me ideas on how to present information to children on their level where they can understand it.

I had been wanting to start doing a devotional with my 2 and 4 year old, however I didn’t have a tool to use! This was the perfect bible for them! The pictures keep their attention and the small words are just enough but still tell the story correctly! I am loving the fact that with this bible I am able to teach my children at a young age time with Jesus everyday is essential!.

My 3 year old loves this song. I’m going to put this in her stocking at Christmas. it is the perfect size for little hands and hard so she can’t rip it! great price and so sweet.

This book combines graces, songs and other prayers together in a book that is easy for preschoolers to handle and for parents and grandparents to sing and read with them.

My son got this as a gift for his baptism and then my cat promptly peed on it. I bought this as a pee-free replacement. It is cute and sweet.

This “bible” is excellent. I think it would be valuable for new believers as well as children. The stories aren’t sugar coated like so many children’s bibles. Hurlburt retells the Bible in great detail but not so much as to make the story drag.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Bible and completed most of a master’s degree in New Testament. When I read this to my daughter I make connections that I’ve never made before and come away with a better understanding of the scriptures.

This book is out of print so if you have the opportunity to buy it don’t pass it up.

This also is a Birthday gift for a 4 year old Autistic boy. Mom will be able to start with the first story as the are labeled Day 1, Day 2 etc. , so the day of the year won’t matter. She will be able to cuddle up and read a new bedtime Bible Story 365 days.

I will be exchanging these books because I was looking to buy Jesse Lyman Hurlbut’s “Bedtime Bible Story Book”. The covers are almost identical but the stories in this book, “365 Read-aloud Bedtime Bible Stories”, are written more simply and don’t have the detail of Hurlbut’s.

This book is fine for young children to read, but after having read Hurlbut’s book to my children over and over I have come to appreciate the detail and completeness of Hurlbut’s stories. I attribute much of my children’s early love of God and training in the Word to the just-before-bedtime reading in the Hurlbut Bedtime Bible Story Book.

I decided to try and find a book for my baby boy that was not only geared for young toddlers, but was deeply saturated with biblical truths. It took me a while to find a book that had any real information about what it contained, but I eventually found that this one MIGHT work.

After receiving it, my husband and I, and our son, were SO pleased with it’s contents! Every page is so true! It preaches the gospel on every page! And it does it so basically enough for a baby under one year old, but as it is the gospel, is always a great reminder for me too.

I seriously cried the first time we read it! My son loves that we sing it to him and he loves the pictures. Also, it is the perfect size for a little guy learning to turn pages. This is now the story we read to him every night before his bedtime.

I’m definitely ordering more like it. It’s books like these that help reinforce in our children the truths that God is using us to teach them already.

Not familiar with the song, but it’s a great book for young children and a great beginning to teaching Christianity’s role in everyday life!

My grandson loved the rhymes and we read it together with me reading the harder words and him reading the rhymes at the end. It gave me a chance to talk about Jesus with him.

Reading this to my daughter at bedtime is amazing and she will understand the concept of the Lord when she gets older because this book is so easy to read he just flows so well and even good for some adults.

I purchased this due to a good review I read. A bit disappointed that I couldn’t have a look inside to see what it was like (the box with the clear lid was firmly taped down – if I broke the seal it would have been obvious).

But it was well received and well presented in a box with clear lid.

This is a good size book for toddlers ñ easy to hold great pictures and a short word like Jesus is talking to them! I love the pictures. They will give your children something to look at while they listen to how Jesus loves them protects them and knows everything about them.

Jesus calling for children is wonderful!

So many Christian children books don’t simply appeal to them. Sorry, I call them fruit fairyish. this book is the first I’ve seen that isn’t. We need to appeal to them simply. Relate to their questions.

I like this book so I bought for the grand children. Very concerned that in today’s world, Jesus is not being pro trade as he really is.

The way it is written- in rhyming verses. It glides along and makes all the relationships meaningful! Wonderful book!

In all my life, I had never heard about them and searched the Internet and was so amazed at what was there – in plain sight! And they are all over the world! God is so amazingly AWESOME – as Psalms 92 reads – I will sing for joy at the works of Thy hands – How great are Thy works, o LORD!.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis book is awesome! It’s not just for children because it contains lots of interesting information about the Creation and our awesome Creator. I’m only about 1/4 into the book but it is certainly capturing my attention.

I’m not currently working with any children because I attend a very small church which, like many churches, shrunk because of the pandemic. However, I’m hoping to return to my volunteer work at a local middle school this fall.

One of the things that I appreciate about the book is that it will appeal to a wide age range. I’m certain that my middle school students well enjoy it as much as I do!.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is a beautiful book for all children. I plan on using it as a read aloud to my young great nieces and nephews. And I have recommended this book to the parents in my parish Religious Education program.

The content is meaty and rich in prompting deep, holy conversations. The illustrations are delightfully whimsical!.

I’m not a grandma who bought this book as a present. I’m a mom who had this book. And while I love the idea of this book, the illustrations are kind of ugly and the rhyming is awkward in places. Definitely better board books out there for Catholic families.

If you’re going to be reading something 500 times, better get one that’s beautiful to look at and read.

Gave this book to a niece on her baptism two years ago. She loved it so much that it had to be taped together. Now I bought one for my nephew for his baptism. As an early childhood teacher this is good book for young children.

This picture book teaches children about God’s grace, emphasizing that even when we fail and feel ashamed because of it, God will always forgive us and love us. The text from Melissa Kruger has a nice rhyme scheme and gentle refrain, and the illustrations from Isobel Lundie show diverse children doing wrong things, responding in different ways, and then receiving grace-filled reassurance from their parents.

The book addresses common responses to doing the wrong thing, such as hiding or trying to do something else perfectly, and it assures children that God’s grace, not their own merit, is what makes them right before God.

“His Grace Is Enough: How God Makes It Right When We’ve Got It Wrong” culminates in a brief, child-level explanation of the gospel, focusing on how God paid the price for our sin and gives us new life.

The book ends with the message that because of God’s grace, we are also able to change, and it makes it clear that God’s grace isn’t an excuse to keep sinning. Melissa Kruger handles this complicated topic in a child-friendly and biblical way, making this a helpful conversation tool for families and church environments.

My one critique is that “His Grace Is Enough” does not include Bible references or a note to parents. I think it would have been helpful for there to be a note at the end with related Bible passages that children and parents could explore together, and with additional advice and encouragement for how parents can discuss this topic with their children and create a grace-based culture in their homes.

However, even though I think this book would be even stronger with an author’s note, it is a wonderful introduction for kids to a complicated spiritual topic. Note: I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Alright, Melissa Krueger’s last book made one of my all-time favorite children’s book list! (that link is my review in 2020 of Wherever You Go). So I wondered what I would think about her second children’s book.

Things I like about the book: The words rhyme!! there is a great rhythm to enjoy! The truth about God’s grace is communicated clearly, addresses common misconceptions, and is repeated throughout the story.

This is realistic fiction about God’s saving grace. It’s not boring non-fiction, it’s the truth we all need to be communicated to us with these real-life applications applied. The illustrations are kid-friendly, represent diversity, and are realistic, yet quirky to draw the reader in.

The theme that is repeated, which is another reason I love the book, “God’s grace is enough, it’s so big and so free, His grace is enough both for you and for me!” What I wonder: Why not include a scripture reference? Ephesians 2:8 &9 maybe? Will the children reading this book look for one main character throughout the book? or will the illustrator’s approach with so many children and experiences that resemble ordinary thoughts mean that the readers don’t notice? I didn’t.

How many parents will memorize this book that I hope will become a classic addition to many family libraries? Thankful to partner with the goodbook for children publishing and I wonder how many copies I will give away of this new favorite book! This one goes to my favorite children’s book list!.

I love children’s books and joy they can bring to children’s lives. This one is no exception. My first reaction to this book is the fact that it’s not only great encouragement and guidance for children, but it’s also great wisdom for parents and adults! What a wonderful example of the way parents and adults can address kids’ sin with grace and directly display God’s character.

The story itself is engaging and is realistic the lives of children and what they face with daily choices. We are all sinners but God’s grace is more and enough to cover that sin. It covers not just one potential sin but multiple sins that we are all tempted with at some point.

The illustrations are wonderfully captivating and extremely detailed that it caused my children to pause after each page and point out or search for the fun items. The Gospel is clearly shared throughout the book.

My two disappointments: – there is no scripture reference or discussion. The Gospel must always be directed back to Scripture so children have confidence in what is being taught. – there is no parent section that provides encouragement or wisdom for additional discussion around the subject of grace.

This could have been a wonderful opportunity to go deeper with the children. Overall, the book is beautiful, engaging, fun, and Gospel filled. I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.

What could make Christmas even better for your child? How about if God could speak to your child? Can you imagine the look on your child’s face? This book has the next best thing! Each story featured in the book has a love letter from God to your child.

The seven Bible stories, centered around Christmas, begin with Isaiah’s prophecy to the visit of the three wise men. The illustrations are a beautiful accompaniment to the stories. Children, ages 4-8, will learn so much from the lessons included within the pages.

I read it to some four-year-olds and while the story was a bit too long for their shorter attention spans, they were thrilled to open the love letter and listen to God’s words for them. It’s almost as good as having your little friend whisper a special secret in your ear.

I rated this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to inquisitive little ones. This would also be a wonderful teaching tool for teachers in Christian schools, Sunday School, and Children’s Church. This book was a gift and my review was my own decision and all opinions expressed are my own.

This book is so unique. I loved being able to personalize the ‘letters’ with my Grandson’s name, and a child being able to interact with the book by reading the letters with their name on each one, will make it all be more impressionable to them.

The wonderful story of Christmas. This is one we will read every year at Christmastime. I love the illustrations and the little love letters from God. I can’t wait to read it to my grandchildren.

I used this book with my 4 children, ages 3-13. We all enjoyed it. The devotional style is short, but really packed with solid Bible teaching. It led the way to many wonderful conversations. We still (10 years later), recall some of the lessons learned from this book.

I did not use all the components, such as a memory verse, but the readings and learning we got was worth it all. Have given this as a gift to new moms.

I have remembered using this book as a small child myself. now i have two small children of my own and i would like to start using leading little ones to God. My husband and I prefer to use leading little ones to God rather the a childrens bible, as this book is not about bible stories, but rather teaching children all about who God is and what God does for us.

We also purchaced a newer copy of this book, but were not very happy as it had unrealistic pictures in it ie. Jesus, we would not like to put an picture in the head of our chidrenof what Jesus looks as it is not mentiononed in the word of God what He really does looks like.

Our children are not quite old enough to understand leading little ones to God, but we are looking forward to teaching our children all about the love and care of God when they fully undersatnd.

Leading Little Ones to God is a great devotional book for families with young children. There are 86 short lessons in 14 units that you can chose to do daily or weekly. It has Scriptures, Bible memory verses, prayers, intro to Hymns and discussion questions.

My children love their daily time learning about God.
