20 Best Choke For Snow Geese (2023 Updated)

I just purchased 2 dozen of these decoys additional to the mallard, pintail, black duck and blue bill from avian. And those are 5 stars wish I could say the same for the canvasbacks. Not sure what is happening with the canvasbacks in particular at the factory but paint chipped mostly on the heads of the drakes prior to opening the box is a little ridiculous.

I mean it’s not a huge deal in terms of the effectiveness with the ducks themselves. But for me paying $ for something I expect them to look mint out of the box like the other species. I have another 6 pack on order I’ll be exchanging for the bluebills.

Other than that a really nice large realistic and light weight decoy I don’t doubt they’ll work great even still.

So i had purchased these decoys a while back, a little over a season ago. I’ve not had them in any sort of protective bags and they have been showing minimal amount of wear. The only thing i can complain about is the bills on any Avian X decoys.

No matter if its my Avian x mallards, teal, pintails, widgeon or red heads they all tend to show a small amount of wear in the bills. But lets be honest, the ducks won’t have a chance to see that when you’re getting them to decoy with these decoys.

So far I’ve been pleased with Avians line of deeks but these are nothing like the photos. The photos look ultra realistic with great feather detail but what I received looks like they were dipped in jet black paint from the neck down.

Though I feel deceived I’m still going to run them. Fingers crossed.

This is the second year in a row we have purchased Last Pass Canada Goose decoys. Our decoy spreads are left out for the entire 60 day season and durability is always a concern. In addition to durability, the realism of the the decoy is great and the paint after one year has no issues.

Based upon our experience last year, we added more this year.

They look good overall for quality some spots the paint is messed up. Size is a touch small. I will buy more when the time comes.

Added 2 Dozen of these to the spread and had my best goose season yet. Great size and the flocked heads look great. Can’t beat them in my opinion!

I purchased the Avian X Lesser Canada goose decoys in order to have a variety of head styles since my spread of Avian X honker floaters all have tall, upright heads which doesn’t look natural. The Avian X floaters have excellent paint and look great.

The one thing that I don’t like is that the line adjustment notch at the front of the keel doesn’t hold the plastic decoy line at the depth you have set it once a little wind comes up. The line easily slips out of the notch.

I put 16 feet of plastic line on all my floaters because I hunt in a variety of depths and need to adjust the depth of the line. I have had to attach a black plastic snap swivel to the front of each keel so that I can adjust the depth.

It is unfortunate that an adequate line adjustment notch is not built into each Avian X goose floater.

About 2-3 years ago I purchased 48 AXF fully flocked full body goose decoys in various poses ( Sentrys, Walkers and Feeders) also 48 AXP painted full body goose decoys in the same poses. (96 in total).

Decoys were treated carefully, and the internal tubes that are in the goose that the retractable bases go into either wore out or broke. About 45 decoys in total. Spent $$$$$ thousands $$$$$$$ of dollars on these decoys, and am stuck with that many decoys that are broke.

I’ve contacted Avian X numerous times by email and no response. Called by phone and they said some would contact me and no return call. Products are so-so and CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. Also own 2 avian x a frame blinds and over 100 avian x duck decoys $$$$$$.

WOULD NOT RECOMMENDTO ANYONE!!! Because of customer service.

Got 4 pack today, I thought the mallards look good, these are amazing. Got lessers for portability just to accent duck spreads. Fits in long 12 slot bag by making it a 6 slot. The last 2 years I purchased 2.

5 dz top flights, 1. 5 dz full body mallards and these. I will get a 4 pack a year for awhile. I wish they sold the lesser full body per 6, I would definitely invest in those too.

The dekes are awesome. Fast a d easy to set up. They look life like. I add them to my spread. With my floaters and headed sock dekes they get them close on the rice patties I hunt. They are deadly. But, most of all it is the affordability.

I really like these headless decoys because they easily collapse, 100’s in a bag, and are easy to take from package to field use. They are a little smaller than my other brands. I was converting my spread to these over the years when they go on sale but the price at Cabela’s has nearly doubled in the last year so will look elsewhere.

I have been using these decoys for a number of years. The system for folding and storing these decoys is the best on the market. Large numbers of decoys are easily set up and taken down, then stored quickly and efficiently for the next time.

We have used these decoys everywhere from the grain fields of Sask. in the fall, to the muddy corn fields of Missouri in the spring. The ease of transport really helps when conditions warrant carrying all your gear into the field by hand.

In addition, the support system allows your spread to remain effective, even when the wind doesn’t cooperate. Other light weight decoy options just don’t work as well in those conditions. 2 thumbs up for me.

Bought these last week and finally had a chance to try them out. I’m amazed that even though they don’t look like they would work or draw birds in they really do! I had a group of 4 landed 60 yards away and after 30 minutes of feeding they swam to within ten yards to check them out.

Also had a pair try to land in them at last light. Can’t wait to continue to use these as they are very reasonably priced, weigh very little and are super fast to set up and pack away. A dozen is probably all I need for now but it’s tempting to get another.

Bought these cause they looked like a great deal. First dozen actually only came with 10 amd the second Dozen didn’t come with all the parts we needed to assemble. Looks like a trip to the hardware store as I don’t live close to cabelas.

Would recommend making sure u get all the parts.

These decoys are very realistic, the heads are able to be placed in different positions because of the way these decoys are assembled. The heads are coated in a felt like material and the bodies are patterned just like the real thing.

Just be aware that every part comes in the package but you have to assemble each decoy from scratch.

Since I hunt from stationary filed blinds, mine is attached to a flexible rod at a 45 degree angle, which I can pull with thin camo cord running through an eye bolt anchor in front of the blind. It is affixed with duct tape, so has the potential to rotate to the side.

Stayed straight on the two times I’ve used it so far, but I’m looking at how to affix it more securely to resist rotating.

I bought 4 oof these. I drilled some holes in the handles. Placing 4 foot and 7 foot fiberglass poles in to them. Placing them randomly in our decoy spread. The were useful in attracting Canadian geese!.

As always, Avery has produced a quality product. The only negative is that they really should indicate in their advertising that the goose decoy is either a form of the Lesser Canadian or Greater Canadian.

Most hunters want plain descriptions and dont really take the time to bring out a tape and measure. Math may not be our strong point so just TELL us. Lesser or Greater!!.

For the price these are good decoys. They are hollow, not full body but the texture, color, and head look pretty good. I set them up and carried them around and handled them pretty thoroughly and they are holding up good.

Next time I’m going to get silohoutes to diversify my spread. otherwise I’d be buying these a second time!.

shipping was OK. It’s is my first set of decoys ever. When i open the box, one was split on 1 to 2 inch. and 2 other was missing paint just under the neck. I’ve phone cabela’s and they told me to send email, so do I.

But after almost 1 one, no news. But for all the rest it look like ok.

Got 6. 5 dozen of these last year and after a full season I can definitely say they are a wonderful decoy. I used them on about 11 different spreads this year and just washed em off today and they look darn near brand new.

VERY durable. The paint job is fantastic. I got rid of the yellow eyeliner around the eyes with some brown paint but otherwise I love the scheme. Specks absolutely went crazy for them. I landed several flocks among them and birds were walking among dekes.

Birds finished beautifully on cloudy and sunny days. Ill be buying more. Stakes are super thick, very solid system and the 2 piece heads had me concerned as I HATED GHG 2 piece heads. These are rock solid and do not separate.

Slight drawbacks: the bags a little cheap and could be a hair taller. Slight sheen to the body paint on chest in big sun, birds don’t seem to mind. Overall solid deke here. Rating A.

I bought a dozen of these to add to my regular spread and all I can say is wow! Only a dozen and we have gone from specks passing by or over the spread at max range to locked onto these decoys from 150yds out and coming in on the deck to land in with these decoys.

The difference in decoying specks into the spread has been night and day with even as few as I have added. I will be getting another dozen or two for next season. The only thing I’d like to see with these is a few juvies in each 6 pack instead of 6 mature birds.

We see lots of small family groups with juvies and adults throughout the migration in our area. I think it would add that extra bit of realism to the spread. Otherwise I think these decoys are far above anything else out there!.

Don’t buy another speck decoy until you’ve hunted over these! These look so realistic, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thrown open the blind door and drew down on the decoy instead of the bird right next to it.

The only way to get more realistic is to buy the flocked version or use taxidermy birds.

I have 3 Pattern Master choke tubes. Two in 12 gauge in Long Range and Extended Range, and One in 20 gauge. I have used them in Benelli Super Black Eagles, Montefeltro, and also in new Beretta Extreme A400.

It is amazing the difference it makes as far distances and kill shots. I have shot them for over 15 years and everyone that I have hunted with has purchased a Pattern Master after they saw how well it performed for me.

I would say that I have put Pattern Master on the map in Northeastern N. C. due to the sales I created by hunting with people and them seeing the results in person. In my opinion it is the best choke for waterfowl.

Guys if you can not shoot do not blame the product. Keep practicing!.

Man talk about knocking down birds at some distance. I recommend you buy this product. Went out with some friends I’ll let them shot first and wait for them to fly little bit then shoot. People say it ruin your barrel, yes it probably will if your lazy and don’t clean your barrel after every hunt, takes a few seconds to clean it.

I love my pattern master classic extended choke.

I gave this item 4 stars because I’ve only shot it about a half dozen times though my observations and blind mates proclamations indicate that it does seem to be effective. The only way to truly know if it is effective is by pattern testing even though my blind mates insist I’m nuts.

If you want to try one of these tubes watch the youtube video so you understand the concept. Try 4’s, 5’s, or 6’s for ducks and get them in close. Even though these tubes are expensive I think you’ll like them.

Bought a dozen half way through last season to use in the late season with our full bodies as real geese go “belly down” to feed and shells are actually realistic. Time will tell. Its great that guys are posting up things about their durability not being the best so that buyers can see that.

In 35 years of goose hunting and guiding, one thing is for certain, if the product isn’t durable, it’s not a dollar. These look not too bad and pass the “fingernail” test, paint doesn’t seem to come off which is more than a guy can say about far too many decoys.

But if they end up cracking down the seam, thumbs down!!.
