20 Best Chocolate Chips For Pancakes (2023 Updated)

I found these to be disappointing in that they are too sweet. The texture is quite heavy, as well, when prepared according to instructions. I gave the mix to another person with celiac to try. While I’m grateful SK is trying to offer gluten-free items, I’m sad that they seem to follow the same path that many companies offering GF items take- making things super sweet to compensate for the lack of body that comes from gluten proteins.

So many prepared GF items are too sweet and therefore not very healthy options for regular eating. For people with celiac disease, who must eat GF, it’s frustrating. Off to look for keto options.

Not being able to get all our families together over the holidays the last couple of years, I have still been able to help make them special by including delicious gifts from Stonewall Kitchen! This was a new purchase and I was so looking forward to eating the light, fluffy pancakes pictured on the container. I followed the directions exactly, but found the mixture so dense, I didn’t even add the full cup of mix it called for.

The pancakes felt very heavy in my stomach. Either the recipe needs to be adjusted, or the mix is simply going to produce heavy pancakes no matter what. I will try a thinner version with more liquid, but for now, very disappointed since my gluten-free lifestyle leaves very little food to actually love.

I have gone toward a cleaner diet with minimal sugars, gf and dairy free to support some cancer issues but I still needed an occasional “treat” or dessert somehow. So I’ve turned to chocolate chips haha, small but mighty and I can have a lot or a little.

So I have tried TONS of different chocolate chip brands over the last several months to find the best most delicious as-is. And THESE are the ones! 55% barely dark is just right! Minimal added sugar, but perfect richness somehow.

I put them in the fridge so they are crunchy and I love them so much. I stumbled upon this brand at a health food store while on vacation, so I quickly went to their website to order more to my home.

Pretty sure I will never look back and this is my new brand for life!.

if I remember correctly, this was 100% chocolate. so no sugar. chocolate is sorta bitter with no sugar, but I have low blood sugar so no sugar is a good thing. added to to recipes it is fine, eating then out of your hand not as tasty.

I melted mine and spread on things like my biscuits. can add maple sugar (dried maple syrup) to the chips and the taste a lot better. I make the chocolate sauce by putting the chips in small bowl, place that that bowl to a larger bowl, boiling water, add the hot water to the second bowl ant waking away.

later the chocolate has melted and just stir. I store the rest in the frig and then re-melt as needed. I use a 1 cup glass Pyrex bowl to melt the chips in and store int he at same bowl, and cove with the lid it came with.

I do mostly sugar-free eating (Trim Healthy Mama, and these are low enough sugar that it’s not a problem). I love the convenience of chips, rather than chopping up a bar (which was my go-to before I discovered Pascha bulk chocolate chips).

These are comparable value to using bars, even when they’re not on sale (the little bit of difference is worth it for the ease of use), but if you can snag them during a sale, they’re great value! Good taste, though a little more bitter than some brands, I feel, but it’s not enough difference that I mind when they’re mixed into something like muffins.

I don’t typically eat them plain, but they’re good in trail mix. Also, they’re easier on the tummy than sugar-free (sugar alcohol) brands.

I buy these bittersweet chips from time to time, when the 5# bulk packages of equal exchange bittersweet chips are not available from another company. Perhaps it is just me, but this brand seems to be a tad bit more bitter, or perhaps less smooth, than the other brand even though the ingredients list reads the same for both.

In any case, I munch on them as my “dessert treat” in the evenings and they do a fine job of taking care of my daily chocolate cravings. I also make oat flour chocolate chip muffins which are delicious.

I don’t “do” cookies.

I purchased several products in my order, and wanted to leave a general review, so this WILL be copy pasted onto other products. I am VERY pleased with everything I purchased. Going forward, I will be buying my coffee, chocolate products, and any other items I can get from Equal Exchange.

This is my favorite affordable brand for chocolate chips. I just wish the price wouldn’t fluctuate on Target. com so much. The extra dark chips are not too dark for chocolate chip cookies. I don’t like regular semi-sweet chis anymore.

I wish they would make them in the large flati discs for chocolate chips (like the size of a quarter) for fancier chocolate chip cookies. These are regular shaped small chocolate chips. I appreciate that there is a percentage of cacao listed.

As far as I know Guittard is a good brand that tries not to use child or slave labor for their chocolate and tries to pay fair prices to cacao farmers. I purchased these online with my own money and I’m not part of a review program.

Tried these for the first time at Christmas time, and they are amazing. I was looking for a gluten free chocolate, and these are made in a gluten free facility (peanut free and tree nut free, too). These are the best tasting chocolate chips I have ever had.

Ate them straight out of the bag. Melted the chocolate for dipping pretzels. Made cookies. Highly recommend! Non-GMO and Fair Trade Certified Cocoa. Only 6 ingredients on the label: sugar, milk, cocoa butter, cacao bean, sunflower lecithin and vanilla.

I bought this regular dark chocolate morsels last time. Accidently I ordered the minis without reading it. it is still ok same chocolate. I love the fact there aren’t any junk but simple healthy ingredients is most important.

Only thing is the sugar content of these chocolate. 7g added sugar makes it 14%. The moment I put them in my mouth first ,I feel the bursting sweetness and then I taste the chocolate. I wish after taking the effort of making these chocolates with simple ingredients they will make it a little bit less sugar.

Iti s better for everybody include children. The manufacturer does not have to make it reduced sugar just reduce a 10% at least.

For a long time, I’ve taken a little handful of Nestle chocolate morsels when I needed a taste of chocolate… but it no longer hits the same. There is no joy in eating them. I’m so glad to hear the other comments, to know I’m not going crazy.

Nestle keeps saying “the recipe hasn’t changed”… but one of the ingredients is simply “chocolate”… and the CHOCOLATE has changed. Same recipe, different taste. Might have something to do with recent changes to the rules governing chocolate.

In any event, I don’t see any point in buying these again.

I grew up with Nestlé butterscotch morsels as a pantry staple and oatmeal scotchies are a beloved childhood memory for both me and my daughter which I was looking forward to sharing with my first grandchild.

Now that can never happen. When I took my first taste of the new but ” the same” morsels, I nearly spit them out. Heads should roll at Nestlé. Whomever is responsible for this abomination which can barely be identified as butterscotch should be.

I don’t know, maybe force fed their creation until they repent and change back to the REAL Original butterscotch morsels.

The Lily’s Milk Chocolate Baking Chips have a great taste. No stevia aftertaste and they are very close to regular sugar sweetened chocolate chips. In fact, I really prefer them. I’ve tried the dark chocolate chips from Lily’s and for me they aren’t sweet enough.

And I do not like the white chocolate chips at all. In my opinion, these are the best tasting of all of the chips that Lily’s makes. These do very well in terms of flavor and holding their shape in baking, as well as melting in the microwave or in a bowl over simmering water.

When I melt them, I add a tsp or two of coconut oil but you can add butter as well. I stock up on them in the colder months so that I don’t have to order them in the warmer weather and then have to worry about them melting during shipping.

Wonderful tasting sugar free product. I truly can not say how good their products are. Also how professional courteous and helpful Nuts.com’s Customer Service is. They are a Blessing.

I am not an “Incentivized Reviewer”. I bought these, hoping they’d be the same as the Milk Chocolate Nuggets, which I’m very fond of (taste-wise), but they’re not always covered/sealed (7 pieces wasted from my most recent bag) as well as I’d like (I gave up on the Kisses decades ago, for the same reason), so I thought these chips (baking pieces) would be the same taste, without having to worry about the wrapping.

I was wrong. They’re not the same (Hershey’s answered my question, admitting this), they’re not as good. I’m not sure exactly why. They taste a little artificial/cheap, they don’t seem as sweet. Perhaps that’s because they’re meant to go in something else, which would presumably have sugar added (cookies, etc), I don’t know (if I’d wanted Semi-Sweet, I would’ve bought those).

I won’t be buying these again, I guess I’ll go back to the Nuggets, & just hope there aren’t too many which have to be tossed for not being wrapped well enough.

Who doesn’t love Hershey’ s Milk Chocolate? Right? The chips are yummy. Purchased them to use in a recipe for Double Chip Brownies. The recipe did not disappoint, and the chips made it so sweet, gooey, soooo yummy.

Definitely great tasting milk chocolate chips. Wouldn’t think of buying any other chocolate chips to add to recipes. I will buy these chips again when baking. Yum!! 😋🍫👍🏻.

My family is used to me trying different versions of healthy pancake recipes, and one or more of them always says they’re not as good as regular pancakes. Last night my husband, 8 year old, 4 year old, and I all gobbled these up.

My 8 year old even said they tasted like IHOP pancakes. I wouldn’t go quite that far, but with sugar free syrup, margarine, and blueberries or chocolate chips (I made some of each), they were sooooo good.

Like some other reviewers suggested, I added milk instead of water. I also added to the whole bag of pancake mix: 2 eggs, a teaspoon or so of cinnamon, and a teaspoon or so of vanilla. The consistency and look really is just like a regular pancake, at least with my additions.

Since I made the whole bag, I just enjoyed a couple more leftover pancakes cold from the fridge. A chocolate chip one plain was like a cookie, and I put some peanut butter on one with blueberries. Yum, yum.

I’m glad I made enough for leftovers. I’ll be making these every week!.

I’m not familiar with this brand. My normal, product searches consist of certified organic or non-GMO. This product is VEGAN and what a selling point, yet it’s only listed in teeny, tiny print on the back of this bag and at the very bottom.

It’s not even listed on the product page on Vitacost’s site. Since I had NO clue this was vegan and after I made it the first time, I was pretty disappointed. I felt like I was eating the inside of an undercooked eggroll.

I didn’t like the texture. I thought I did something wrong but per the directions, all I had to do was add water. I looked everywhere on the bag as to what the heck happened. I finally came across the word “vegan.

” So, now I add egg and a little almond milk in lieu of water and wow, these are really, really good. Fluffy and they get a nice, little crisp around the edges. I would recommend these to non-vegans.

I would ALSO recommend that Vitacost at the very least please list this product as vegan SOMEWHERE, as well.

I’m obsessed with these pancakes! They’re so easy and quick to make and turn out delicious every time. I like that there’s no egg in it so I don’t have to be paranoid about cooking it through thoroughly.

I *don’t* follow the directions on the bag- I use 1/3-1/2 a bag at once and add in bottled water until it’s on the runnier side. Throw in a small handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips and I pour it into a warm pan sprayed with nonstick butter flavored spray.

Cooks to a beautiful golden brown, light and fluffy consistency. I think the people leaving negative reviews need to learn how to cook lol. I’m just frustrated because I can only find the gluten-free at Target and one store is genuinely out of stock but says they have it online (30mins away) but the one closer to me says it’s out of stock online and I usually have a hard time finding anything at that store.

By far one of the easiest mixes to follow. You just add water. Its so simple. You can jazz it up and add more chocolate chips or fruit. My kids love pancakes. Its so easy to make in the morning. This particular mix you can adjust the consistency.

Add less water if you want it thick or more water for a thinniee pancake. Do not mix it the night before. It will not be fluffy. You can mix 30 minutes prior to making it.
