20 Best Chicken Brine For Smoking (2023 Updated)

I have used the brining method to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving for many years. I’ve used various brine kits over the years, even making my own brine. This product comes with a large, ziplock type of bag which is awesome.

This product is easy to use. It gives the turkey a wonderful taste and makes the turkey so moist. I have relatives that do not like turkey too much. however. when I brine a turkey with this product. they go crazy over it.

Considering the amount of apple juice, vinegar and water is required for the brine, the herbs didn’t really add as much flavor to the meat as I was hoping. It was good, but I was really hoping for the sage and other her flavors to really come through – they were good, just not great.

Will probably try something else next time around.

Purchased it in 2014. The other day, Christmas Eve 2020 I found it going thru my spices. Both packets were still sealed. There was no weird smell of the ingredients so I decided to try it. Brined the turkey overnight.

It turned out great!!!! Was I taking a chance? Of course but I had to try it, besides we had a ham too.

I cannot recommend this product enough. We used it last Thanksgiving for the first time and I later regretted not buying two kits so I’d have one for Christmas not to mention my husband (who is not a lover of turkey) kept raving it was the best turkey he has ever had! He said if turkey had tasted like this he would have been eating it at the holidays.

Not only does this kit produce the moistest and most tasty turkey, but it also comes with everything you need – especially the bag, which when purchased separately can easily cost $4 and up. I’m so glad Walmart is carrying this special item!.

I just poured the water and brine mixture as per directions. For a 23. 7 lb turkey it was impossible to fully seal the bag, even after removing some water/mixture and still making sure the turkey was still fully covered.

I am sure it would seal with a smaller turkey, but for this size turkey beware. You may have to purchase a bigger bag separately. So one star off, other than that I am sure the flavor will be great after cooking, thus one star off.

I brined two turkeys for Thanksgiving with this brine mix. I also added some fresh sage and rosemary to the brine. I let the turkeys brine for 48 hours. One was roasted in the oven and one cooked on the Traeger.

Both turkeys were the most moist I have ever had. I would highly recommend brining your turkeys no matter what your cooking method.

I feel that this is the best salmon brine, period, yet I found a new love. All you need is a 13-lb turkey, 2 boxes of this stuff, a Cajun spice for your dust, and the directions on the back page. The Best turkey I have EVER SMOKED!!!! I’ve been smoking meat for over 10 years and could not duplicate how well this did.

I’ve used Hi Mountain brine mixes for years while smoking my own salmon! It works perfectly! I have to watch my salt intake, and this product is definitely not too salty! It’s much easier than having to put your own concoction together as I used to do before discovering Hi Mountain!.

I made sure to read the full product description to be sure it would fit in my fridge. 22 qt. dimensions: 15-3/4″ H x 12″ D My fridge has adjustable shelves so getting the 22-quart briner to fit was no problem.

My husband is into smoking meats and we purchased 2 in order to brine turkeys and they are great! The plastic insert that keeps the turkey submerged is simple and clever and really works. They are very big though, so be aware that you’ll need to be able to get them in the fridge and store them when not in use.

It would have been nice if they could stack or nest inside each other, but they don’t. But to save space you could store other dry bagged food products inside. Like bagged cereal or rice. I would make sure anything you store inside is in a bag you can pull out.

In order to not risk cross contamination (just in case, although they cleaned easily) and because the lid is not air or water tight.

pretty much like the grocery stores German sausage. But I can make it stronger if i like but then that makes for too much salt. Also i put in some red chile flakes to give it a kick.

Very good product.Flavor is excellent and we have just made our first batch of venisen pork sweet Italian today.

Easy to use and the result is delicious sausage for many uses including meatballs for pasta.

I never had used a brine when smoking a turkey before this. But I will be doing so from now on. Best turkey I ever smoked and the price is much more reasonable than others I considered. A+

We used it this year for the first time and it won’t be the last time. I was amazed at how much stuff they could pack into the jar. It had cranberries, bay leaves, apple slices, rosemary and so much more.

When I first put it to boil I immediately got hungry because it smelled so good. We fried the turkey this year also and everyone raved at how juicy and tasty it was. Even after frying you could still taste the flavors from the brine.

I highly recommend this brine and will be getting more for chickens.

First time user of this brine this year. We used it on a 10lb turkey. Used about half of the bottle as you can see. Bird came out very tasty! Definitely a keeper!

This is AMAZING!! It’s a great starter for brine. It’s delicious!! The spices aren’t too overpowering. The only thing I’d change is I’d suggest less salt in the mixture. I’m glad I purchased 2!!

This was the first time I tried this brine kit and it was worth every penny. It was so easy: just boil everything in a pot, let it cool, add ice and bag it up overnight! I had to turn my turkey over the next day to make sure the other side was well seasoned.

It was a total hit and started the path to a delicious bird!.

I’ve bought this twice now for brining holiday turkeys. In my opinion, it’s the brand’s best one. Package directions give a roasting time that is a little too long and I would definitely NOT allow brined turkey to sit in frig once out of the brine solution.

Box says to try this “for crispy skin”. just dries it out. But if you roast it right after u take it out of the solution it makes for a fantastic, juicy turkey & your gravy will be phenomenal too!.

I just recently received my order. I grilled pork chops brined for 6 hours in the sweat tea brine then applied a generous coating of the apple pie seasoning to both sides. They turned out so amazing and so juicy that I’m Fixin to order a larger quantity.

I thought about ordering a larger quantity at first but thought I would get enough to try first. I’ve been let down before by other rubs and spices and wished I would have ordered a smaller size. These two I highly recommend.

Yep, first time in my life using a Brine. Used this on our Pork Chops the other day. Something came up and we ended up not having them on the night we were planning so they sat in the Brine for 30 hours (a day and a half).

Put the Apple Pie Seasoning on and turned the grill on HIGH. All I can say is when your husband says “THIS IS FINE RESTAURANT GRADE” you know you have a winner on your hands. Delicious, tender and juicy! Next time I am going to Brine more chops and freeze the extras.

That Brine is too good to throw away.

So I made ribs tonight. Soaked in the Sweet Tea Brine for 7 hours. Patted dry put Apple Pie seasoning! OMG THE BEST ribs EVER! My hubby was so impressed!!Thank You!!

This is a good basic product for beginning smokers. It’s simple to mix and cure with, in fact if you can’t successfully use this stuff I really hope you aren’t licensed to drive a motor vehicle. It’s also an excellent base for more involved cures that augment it’s simple formula.

Try adding some peppers and/or fruit juice to the blend if you find the basic brine too pedestrian. Try different woods too. My favorite for salmon is apple though alder is fine too. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the price- pretty steep for a basic spice pack.

This was a substitute in my online delivery but kept it as we sometimes use other brands of sausage casserole mix but wish I hadn’t. Not a pleasant flavour at all, too much cumin I think and on checking the ingredients confirmed; and also chilli, why? Plus you have to add your own tomato puree, may as well have made it all from scratch and missed out this packet! It should be called spicy sausage casserole or something else to indicate its not a usual type.

Very disappointed.

Not a fan of this sauce at all. Guessed I would not like it due to the aroma as it cooked and I was proved right. Weird taste and heavy on the paprika. This was sent as a sub and I will revert to the much nicer Colman’s version.

The Schwartz Mixes are an excellent way of creating a delicious casserole. They are a popular time-saving ingredient and consequently range availability can be often limited.

I have been using this brine mix for many years now to smoke wild caught king and coho salmon. It is simple to use and provides an excellent shelf life especially when using a vacuum sealer for the finished smoked salmon.

I use hickory or apple wood chips both of which taste great.

Awesome stuff. Just follow the instructions, I myself use this brine combined with alder wood chunks when smoking trout and salmon. Friggin awesome flavor.

The bbq rub is ok, but the Beef Rub was the best! Please don’t make another big corporate mistake by discontinuing. Beef Rub recipe is a five star rating.

If I had known it needed more sales I’d have stocked up! My friends and I became addicted to this seasoning for several months I gained a considerable amount of belly weight and had to cut back on my steak intake but by the time I went to find this seasoning again I never found it anywhere again I wish this seasoning could still be special ordered online at least.

I love this pepper. It lasts such a long time and it gives me that coarse black pepper, but I can get finer pepper too if I want. It is super inexpensive and I find mine at Walmart. I would recommend this over simple shakers any day.

I used this on a turkey breast. Soaked the turkey breast in the brine mixture for 22 hours and then cooked the turkey breast. The turkey was juicy and very tasteful. I could taste the difference between a brined turkey breast and one that is not brined.

I will use again.

I use the mix whenever I cook chicken and turkey. It’s easy with all the spices included in the mix. The result is perfectly moist poultry every time.

I bought this awhile back used it on chicken wings that night. Expected a little bit of dust to create a crust and instead I got this wonderful melted coat of sweet heat when the juices dissolved the honey granules.

My son loved the stuff so much he poured some into a BBQ shaker and brought it to the table. We have been using it like this ever since for BBQ night. From experience we have been treating this as a two coat blend for meats when cooking because the stuff melts and thins out a bit if you’re cooking or grilling for long periods; so a second and final dusting as it sits at the end is highly recommended.

The heat is not at all what I was expecting but in a good way and quickly becomes addicting. I really like this for its versatility to give some heat and sweetness at the table without washing out the final result of the BBQ dish.

This stuff is the bomb! Especially on chicken or pork. Excellent finishing seasoning for ribs. Spritz your ribs for the last time then dust this heavenly stuff all over. Discovered that dusting this on a fruit salad of blueberries, strawberries and nectarines is a game changer.

Back when wings werent astronomical in price this was a customer favorite. I’ve also put it on leg quarters and drumsticks as well with equally popular results. Its also amazing when sprinkled on some pizza too! Give it a shot and thank me later.

This is my go-to brine for pork and poultry. It adds a good bit of moisture to the grilled meat, with a subtle flavor. Not over powering. I use it in my mini brine bucket for the smaller cuts of meat.

I’m big on brining pork and chicken. This is probably my 5th or 6th time using a different brine mixture. This one is awesome. Sure I always add a few more things (orange peel or lemon peels. etc. ) but I think this is my go to brine mixture now.

Although this product is sold as a brine mixture, I have really loved using it as a dry rub on beef steaks and Dino ribs. Adding cracked pepper on top of this rub, kicks up the enjoyment. Not overly salty ( a good thing).
