This beloved series, read in schools across the world, has inspired two motion pictures and a Broadway musical. It is currently in development for a television series on Disney+,.
This version of the books is absolutely beautiful. Not only do the spines align when put side-by-side, but the illustrations on the front covers align, too which I certainly wasn’t expecting and came as a delightful surprise! The only problem I have is with the shipping.
The box that it came in was a little too large for the boxset, and not padded enough to compensate, as I suspect some movement occurred during transportation. The package arrived with small damage on the illustrated box and a bit of creasing on the spines of the books, themselves, which was a bit upsetting considering they’re supposed to be new.
I still adore them, though, and I guess the minor damage just adds a bit of character.
I wish I would have thought to take a picture… this was quite a disappointment. The box set they sent me was damaged before even shipping. You can tell they opened their boxes when receiving because there was a nice blade cut all the way down the side of the books box set.
The shrink wrap was falling off and the box splitting. Why would they send that to someone especially around Christmas. Now I have to return them because it is not suitable to gift.
When I found the Percy Jackson boxset online for a good price, I was stoked. but then I opened the package. Despite the protection, the box containing the 5 books came damaged, and creased. Like it was used or something.
I expected this to come brand new! What a joke. But at least I got 5 books in good condition.

I bought this set as a reward gift for my 8 year old daughter. She has recently discovered Roald Dahl books so I saw this as great way to allow her to read more. The set of books is of great quality and neatly boxed as a collection to keep them together on a bookshelf.
There are smaller boxed set collection also available but this set of 15 represented the best value. I would recommend this boxed set to anyone that has a child that has discovered and has a love for reading.
In an age of electronic entertainment it is good to see a child stimulating their own visual imagination by their own interpretation of the written word.
My son asked for some books by Ronald Dahl and this seemed a like the best set there was available. I chose this seller because they had the best price online. It’s not their fault, but the set arrived damaged on one corner, the books where fine but the outter box that holds the books together split open on the top corner.
Perhaps if the seller used a bigger box and wrapped it in bubble wrap this would have prevented this from happening. The set was packed in a box the same size (slightly larger) and wrapped in paper in effort to protect the corners.
I taped it with clear tape and it’s fine as my 8 year old only really cares about the books inside the box.
I bought these for my daughter – a teenaged book enthusiast. She read most of these when she was younger but wanted the set for her book collection. She is even looking forward to reading some of the books she missed when she was younger.
Roald Dahl is a timeless storyteller and these books are beautifully presented in a new cover series. Couldn’t be happier with the quality and value.
August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid – but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face.
WONDER, now a #1 New York Times bestseller and included on the Texas Bluebonnet Award master list, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others.
These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
With over a quarter of a million copies sold, this accessible, bestselling picture book phenomenon about the unbreakable connections between loved ones has healed a generation of readers–children and adults alike–and has been updated with new illustrations and an afterword from the author.
Now available in paperback for the first time! Parents, educators, therapists, and social workers alike have declared The Invisible String the perfect tool for coping with all kinds of separation anxiety, loss, and grief.
In this relatable and reassuring contemporary classic, a mother tells her two children that they’re all connected by an invisible string. “That’s impossible!” the children insist, but still they want to know more: “What kind of string?” The answer is the simple truth that binds us all: An Invisible String made of love.
Even though you can’t see it with your eyes, you can feel it deep in your heart, and know that you are always connected to the ones you love. Does everybody have an Invisible String? How far does it reach? Does it ever go away? This heartwarming picture book for all ages explores questions about the intangible yet unbreakable connections between us, and opens up deeper conversations about love.
Recommended and adopted by parenting blogs, bereavement support groups, hospice centers, foster care and social service agencies, military library services, church groups, and educators, The Invisible String offers a very simple approach to overcoming loneliness, separation, or loss with an imaginative twist that children easily understand and embrace, and delivers a particularly compelling message in today’s uncertain times.
This special paperback edition includes includes vibrant new illustrations and an introduction from the author. ” This book is a beautiful way to begin to try, as parents, to instill in children the impenetrable power of the heart, the energy of love, and the flow that can be felt from the grace in every moment.
The invisible string in my opinion is one of the best psychology books aimed at child anxiety for the child. You see a lot of children go through anxiety at one point or another and this normally presents itself in young children and children as separation anxiety all the fear of not knowing and therefore not wanting to be alone.
This can be overwhelming for the parent, and the parent can feel guilty that they have stuff that needs to be done, verses a child that wants your attention and will not do every day activities. for example go to school or play by themselves.
Parents often feel under equipped to deal with this level of distress they see in their child. Which is why this book is so important. It is simple and informative with clear wording and is easily followed by children.
The pictures are adorable and keeps even the busiest of kids focused on the message, which is even when you can’t see me or need to do something or go to school we are connected by an invisible string which is made of love and can’t be broken.
It can reach even all the way to the afterlife and space even to your bedroom or outside. Tho you may feel alone you never really are because I am with you. Yes it works my son who is ASD, ADHD lost his cat he died, ever since then he was afraid riddled with anxiety would not leave my side.
He had the worst anxiety I’ve seen in him. We read this book the next day he played outside for the first time in weeks, stoped calling out at night and turned all the lights out. he would remind him self that he was connected by the invisible string to Mama and Daddy.
So if you have a little one with anxiety I recommend this book read it often, remind them often and bring some peace back to your life. This was one of the best recommendations from my son’s therapist and I am happy to share this review so other families can find some peace and confidence.
Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. A sweet and charming coming-of-age story that explores friendship, love, and coming out. “Absolutely delightful. Sweet, romantic, kind. Beautifully paced.
I loved this book. ” — Rainbow Rowell, author of Carry OnShy and softhearted Charlie Spring sits next to rugby player Nick Nelson in class one morning. A warm and intimate friendship follows, and that soon develops into something more for Charlie, who doesn’t think he has a chance.
But Nick is struggling with feelings of his own, and as the two grow closer and take on the ups and downs of high school, they come to understand the surprising and delightful ways in which love works.
Rather late to the Heartstopper party but ordered the first 4 book volumes for me and my daughter to read. We both absolutely loved Alice Oseman’s touching handling of Charlie and Nick’s flourishing relationship – they expertly demonstrate how much can be conveyed through images.
Came to these books via the Netflix series and I loved to see how much of the content and images from the first two books are reflected in the Netflix series (such as Charlie on tiptoes to kiss Nick).
Have already read books 3 and 4 several times and looking forward to this being interpreted in a sensitive way for the next series. Also can’t wait for volume 5 of these books to be published so we can keep enjoying the Heartstopper characters’ journeys.
I want to make people aware that even though this looks like a copic book and meets the lexile range of elementary students, it is not suitable for elementary aged children without the concent of their parents.
It talks about topics that some may not find developmentally appropriate. According to the book rating, even though it has words that meet elementary lexile range, the book is recommended for grades 9 and up.
I feel by the author using elementary lexile levels but young adult topics, it is only fair to put the caution out to parents who may not wish for their child to be exposed to such topics at a young age.
The Heartstopper series is very wholesome and romantic. The story has a lot of LGBTQ+ representation that I wish was more common when I was younger. The books are quite quick as they are graphic novels and I found that I finished each of them in one sitting.
Overall, I’d recommend the series and the Netflix show that is based on the books.
Journeys to the end of the world, fantastic creatures, and epic battles between good and evil—what more could any reader ask for in one book? The book that has it all is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, written in 1949 by Clive Staples Lewis.
But Lewis did not stop there. Six more books followed, and together they became known as The Chronicles of Narnia. For the past fifty years, The Chronicles of Narnia have transcended the fantasy genre to become part of the canon of classic literature.
Each of the seven books is a masterpiece, drawing the reader into a land where magic meets reality, and the result is a fictional world whose scope has fascinated generations. This edition presents all seven books—unabridged—in one impressive volume.
The books are presented here in chronlogical order, each chapter graced with an illustration by the original artist, Pauline Baynes. Deceptively simple and direct, The Chronicles of Narnia continue to captivate fans with adventures, characters, and truths that speak to readers of all ages, even fifty years after they were first published.
Classic read for all ages. Book 2 after the magicians nephew. This is more of Introduction into the world of Narnia. part of the set the chronicles of Narnia. And guess what it does? have a lion a Witch and a very special wardrobe.
Four siblings enter a strange and violent world and each discover new strengths and weaknesses. A story that has stood the test of time. I bought to replace the original and holds special memories for both me and my son.
it was part of the set bought for me back in the 1970s. I passed them on to My son has enjoyed them and its a part of growing up being able to read independently and discuss the plot etc with adults who had the same experience as children is something magical.
My all-time favourite books by CS Lewis. Timeless classics for both adults and children. Wish I had the complete set during the very first lockdown. I can now sit all cosy and warm under my duvet during the Christmas break and start with the Magican’s Nephew.
This is a Christmas gift for my 8-year-old son. The collection box is sturdy and beautifully illustrated. The text is a good size for his level of reading, but not really suited to a new reader or a child just starting independent reading.
From the bestselling author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda! One of TIME MAGAZINE’s 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly.
It’s lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants–rather than the BFG–she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all.
And the BFG is going to help her! “This warmhearted tall tale, published a year before Dahl picked up the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement, artfully whisks readers away on a magical journey through London, Giant Country and beyond, to a realm of wild imagination.
I was honestly just looking for a copy of the book for my own reading/enjoyment and to introduce my 3 year old to, as I remember reading it as a child myself. The book is obviously used, no tears or wear marks really though.
I paid 3. 97 plus free shipping, and the book back in the day it came out was cost at 3. 95. I’m not upset with paying what I had as it’s not really much to begin with, but normally I feel that something that’s obviously used should be priced below the normal cost.
Roald Dahl carries a story by complete immersion, you can’t escape the excitement and humorous suspense. He is FAR above the present children authors who rely on abrupt shock writing to address unready children.
I bought this for my Grandaughter after seeing the movie with her. She loved it so much, she wanted the book. This book is perfect for beginning readers, it has great illustrations, and the chapters are short for the most part.
She loves it as much as the movie. Great way to encourage reading together.
Readers of all ages—whether they are experiencing Narnia for the first time or returning once again to the magical world—will love seeing the creatures and landscapes of C. Lewis’s classic fantasy series in gorgeous color.
The Chronicles of Narnia have enchanted millions of readers for over sixty years, for here is a world where a witch decrees eternal winter; where there are more talking animals than people; and where battles are fought by Centaurs, Giants, and Fauns.
This box set includes all seven titles in The Chronicles of Narnia—The Magician’s Nephew; The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; The Horse and His Boy; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader; The Silver Chair; and The Last Battle—with full-color illustrations by Pauline Baynes, the original artist.
This boxed set was in perfect shape and fully complete. My wife had read the books herself as a teenager and then again to our children when they were little. But she wanted to read them again since we recently went to a movie of C.
S. Lewis “The Most Reluctant Convert”. With each reading you get more and more layers of entertaining deep thinking.
This is a great read aloud for the whole family. The young people can fantasize about adventures in another world while the more mature reader reaps a higher meaning of life itself. Stepping through the wardrobe puts you into another world; a world of good vs.
evil. It’s well written (Of course, it’s C S Lewis!) and it’s a classic; not at all stuffy.
Celebrate 50 years of the beloved teddy bear. 2018 marks Corduroy’s 50th anniversary, and Don Freeman’s classic character is even more popular today than he was when he first came on the scene. Now his original story is available in an unabridged, sturdy board book format, perfect for even the youngest readers.
in my mind a little overpriced. But it did what I wanted it to. It brought back special memories for both my daughters as I had read this little bears adventure relentlessly throughout their childhood.
( complete with voice characterisations , purely for effect,) They were both delighted with the books, So , I suppose the looks on both their faces suggests that price isn’t everything. A wonderful ,little book that I know they will read and pass on to their children in future years.

Ten years ago, Jack and Annie found a Magic Tree House in the woods and the world of reading was changed forever. Millions of letters later (from children, parents, and teachers around the world!) the exciting and inspiring first four books are available together in a keepsake-worthy boxed set.
The perfect gift to encourage a struggling new reader or remind old fans of the way they first discovered the magic of books.
This series is what began my love and joy for reading. No matter what, I always made it my mission to read at least one of these books and eventually finish the entire series. I thought I had time when I was in the second grade! Sadly I didn’t finish the series; nevertheless, I believe that we as people can instill that very same love and joy for reading in our children.
That is why I bought this set for a young person I used to teach in daycare. I could have bought him another countless toy that he would out grow or give him something that would help him grow and be with him forever.
The passion and pleasure of reading is something that i see swiftly dying among our younger generation, if it’s not on a phone or a television screen the children won’t read it. I was blessed with the opportunity to share something that I love with someone younger than me.

A true story from Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile, Sisters, Drama, and Ghosts Raina wakes up one night with a terrible upset stomach.
Her mom has one, too, so it’s probably just a bug. Raina eventually returns to school, where she’s dealing with the usual highs and lows: friends, not-friends, and classmates who think the school year is just one long gross-out session.
It soon becomes clear that Raina’s tummy trouble isn’t going away. and it coincides with her worries about food, school, and changing friendships. What’s going on? Raina Telgemeier once again brings us a thoughtful, charming, and funny true story about growing up and gathering the courage to face — and conquer — her fears.
From the bestselling author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG! Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she’s just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress.
When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she suddenly discovers she has a remarkable power with which to fight back. It’ll take a superhuman genius to give Miss Trunchbull what she deserves and Matilda may be just the one to do it! Matilda will surely go straight to children’s hearts.
Roald Dahl’s formula for mixing the normal with the unexpected appeals to me. It inspires the imagination. Not for children who are taught to believe everything that they read – it is fiction! Super illustrations by Quentin Blake.
This book was heartily recommended to me by a nine-year-old and her mum, so I looked forward to reading it. However, I found the main character, Matilda, to be an unsympathetic and unpleasant character.
I found her sly, deceptive, mean and lacking emotion. Her tricks on the adults around her were mean-spirited and generally only enacted for revenge. The adults were not taught a lesson. They were just tormented for her private satisfaction.
The one nice adult was a weak doormat. At the end of the book – spoiler alert – when her family leaves for places unknown, Matilda’s brother waves good-bye. There is no mention or illustration of Matilda waving back or caring one jot.
She seems to have viewed permanent separation from her family with utter equanimity. I expected to find this book funny and a little rebellious. I did not.
I genuinely really loved this book to the point where I can’t stop re-reading it. The book is basically all about this girl named Matilda who is the most spectacular child you can come across in you entire life.
Sadly, this prodigy of a child is not recognized by her very obnoxious parents. They actually do not encourage her to read books, instead they want her to waste her time watching TV. There are many things I love about this book, now I don’t know about you but I find the character Matilda very inspiring even though she is fictional.
But there is something that maybe some people may not enjoy which is the fact that the book takes a long time to read. In my opinion anyone over the age of nine can read this book. This has been and always will be one of the top 5 books I’ve ever read.

My son is not am avid reader. As a matter of fact, he hates to read. His school grades have suffered because of that reading hatred. But he started reading these books, simply because he had to, and now he doesn’t want to put them down.
There is something so wonderful about checking in on your child and finding them engrossed in a book. He loves them so much that he reads through one book in 2 days or less, and tells me all about them.
This author has caught my son’s attention, and has given him a love of books. I will always be thankful for that.
My son was EXCITED to receive this set! I was happy to get it for a GREAT price! Even though this is not a graphic style like it is coming out but this is the base on what it is on. I am so grateful that Target has this so I can support my son in his love of reading and for this series.
