Best Champions For Spider Den (2024 Updated)

The Marvel Champions Core Set is a complete, self-contained product that can provide, on its own, dozen of playthroughs of the game lasting as many (or more) hours and offering a bunch of levers you can rely on for replayability.

It also actually fully supports, within this one box, its full advertised player count. This is the first time any of this can be said about FFG’s LCG offerings, even their co-operative ones. In comparison to the Arkham Horror or LotR LCGs, where you wanted at least two (but ideally three) core sets to get your gaming group completely outfitted to play the game at its highest level, Champions gives you more than enough in this Core Set to feel good running a four player squad of heroes.

The game itself feels like a mixture of LotR LCG and Arkham Horror LCG, and you can tell that FFG is taking the learnings they gathered in creating those products to apply it here. While the story, experience, and decisions you’re making don’t feel as complex as the ones you might have in Arkham, neither does the game feel as fiddly, plodding, and oppressive as an Arkham campaign can sometimes be.

It’s more similar to LotR, in which each round feels like a particular puzzle to solve. However, unlike LotR where multiplayer can often feel like you are playing a game NEXT TO someone rather than WITH someone, Champions makes player collaboration and interaction a central (maybe even necessary) part of the multiplayer experience.

I don’t think this game is for everyone (and, admittedly, I think the game itself doesn’t have some of the highs that you can get in an Arkham campaign), but the Core Set is a fantastic self-contained product that immediately knocks games like Sentinels of the Multiverse or Marvel Legendary out of the collection.

It also sets the standard as being the LCG that I am most likely to introduce people to for casual play. There’s so much to love here, and, if you’re a card game player, you’re doing yourself a disservice by not trying it out.

I’m not a huge non-X-Men Marvel fan, but I heard enough good things that I needed to try this game. I keep hoping to find an LCG that hooks me. This is almost certainly the LCG that does it for me. It plays so quickly.

The recommended decks are a breeze to put together. Each character feels vastly different from each other. Changing the difficulty of the villains is so easy (literally just swapping two cards in most cases) yet changes up the game dramatically.

Thematically I never really felt like I was a superhero. Yes, Captain America’s mechanisms were that of a leader, etc. but overall the game is definitely that of a puzzle rather than a thematic overload.

But honestly, that’s fine with me as I’m not in love with the theme anyway. Five heroes and three villains is plenty to start with. By all means pick up any heroes that might be your favorite, but don’t feel like you have to have everything right away.

There’s a ton of goodness in this box. EDIT: Captain America doesn’t come in the base box, but you get the point.

The biggest shortfall of Marvel Champions (MC) is that it’s not Arkham Horror: The Card Game. That said, MC is far better at picking up and playing. The pre-build decks are better than FFG’s other co-op LCGs, and deck construction has a lower accessibility threshold as 15 of 40 cards are automatically set for each hero.

With modular encounter sets, the scenarios feel more repayable than FFG’S other co-op LCGs too. That said, the MC base box has no campaign support at all.

I’ve been collecting Marvel Legends for about 3 years now and I’m really enjoying the line. My only complaint is that too much at one time. Love all that is coming out but can’t afford all at once. This figure is awesome! But please slow it down a bit and make enough so everyone has a chance to get them.

For example the Mystero from this wave is impossible to get now. Thank you all for your amazing work! Keep it up.

Love the new scorpion figure. The tail with bendy wire in is amazing and the articulation is great. The only thing that could make the figure better is an alternate head sculpt with around the mouth being flesh colored and some alternate hands.

But the all green mask is classic and looks amazing!.

Glad to have an awesome Scorpion figure! Paint and articulation are great. No qc issues at all! Very satisfied with this figure. Only thing I could ask for would be if this figure were a bit bigger. In the comics he is quite larger than Spider-Man.

My wife and I have played the first 2 of the 5 scenarios so far and have been loving it. The Adam Warlock deck feels totally unlike any of the other Heros I’ve played. It’s very interesting. Ebony Maw’s spell countdowns and Scenario 2’s double villain setup have really felt fresh.

Challenging, but not too challenging. I also enjoy the optional objectives that have had lasting effects to both the Hero and Encounter decks. Looking forward to playing the rest.

Mad Titan’s Shadow, is by far the most fun expansion out of 3 currently out. The story they give you is amazing and being able to put the Infinity Gauntlet with any of the villains is great. I enjoy it being its own modular set.

I think the story mission for Hela is very fun and a cool concept they did, sort of like the Collector from Galaxy’s Most Wanted. The two characters you get by the means of Adam Warlock and Spectrum are good characters to help you fight your way through the campaign.

Pick this up if you haven’t yet!.

Mad Titan’s Shadow is, in a word, iconic. Iconic villains, iconic locations, and most of all- iconic gameplay. After a bit of a stumble with Galaxy’s Most Wanted, MTS brings enjoyable gameplay back to the Marvel Champions universe, and with the beautiful style the game is known for.

Personally, I think MTS is THE expansion that new fans should consider now after the core set.

This is the stand out marvel champions expansion so far. The heroes are brilliant additions – each unique and really fun to play. I particularly enjoyed Spider-Woman’s aspect mingling deck – that’s exciting and opens up a lot of nice combos.

I haven’t started on the villains yet, but flicking through their cards, they definitely look tasty again with their own unique flavours!.

Two new exciting heroes, five new villains, an easy to learn campaign. This expansion builds on the Marvel Champions winning (Mutagen?) formula of being a quick-to-play beat ‘em up, deck builder for the new-to-casual gamer with sufficient scalable difficulty to satisfy the serious player.

Although the campaign element doesn’t come close to the narrative complexities of, say, Arkham Horror – it does represent a statement of intent from the makers: Namely, that this game will become steadily more complex as new expansions emerge.

That said, what is already here in this expansion is well thought out and narratively satisfying, allowing players once more to feel that they are in a comic book, fighting off the villain of the week and saving the city/country/planet from disaster.

Literally hours of gameplay and replayability, this is another win for a game that knows what it is, what its audience wants, and where it’s going next.

This is a solid set, Spider-Man gets his own headquarters in, which looks a bit like a batcave. Here you can also find a basketball hoop, a skateboarding ramp, a video game console and huge and a prison cell for baddies (see pictures).

There are six minifigures in the box, which sounds pretty good for a Marvel set for kids and adult collectors alike. We got here a fresh take on Green Goblin and a Peter Parker’s clone known in spidey universe as Scarlet Spider, also we got Iron Spider and Venom.

We had nearly a 2 hours of fun building up this set with our 5 years old, then another 2 hours of minifigures action role play. We really liked all the minifigures and little details in this set. Overall, this is a great set.

I would recommend this, despite it’s slightly overpriced.

This set is the coolest set I have so far. It can be connected to Iron Man Hall of Armor and Iron Man Armory. However, in order to connect the three sets, you have to raise Iron Man Hall of Armor and Iron Man Armory since Attack on the Spider Lair has a platform.

The basketball court and the jail are really nice features. I also really like those display cases that could hold all of Peter Parker’s Spider Man suits. Also, those large electronic screens are a really nice feature.

This set is a must have if you are a Marvel fan like me. (This review was dictated by my 5 year old Grandson).

This is a decent set. Plenty of good Spidey figs for kids and adult collectors alike. It can also connect with Iron Man Armory and Iron Man Hall Of Armor. However, the price per piece is a bit much. 500 some pieces for $70? The minifigures make up for that, I suppose.

Overall, I would recommend this if you find it on sale or something.

The Venomized Hulk is what makes this set sell – and you won’t find one on its own ! The Iron Man figure is a disappointment, as its just a bog-standard Iron Man without any attempt at Venomization ! In effect, its just another way to get rid of Iron Men that aren’t going to sell now that Tony Stark is dead on screen.

And if you prefer Thor to Iron Man, Hasbro have produced a set that includes a standard Thor figure, a venomized Hulk facemask, and the same Venomized Hulk figure ! Probably only available in the USA and in a limited quantity (until the Thors are gone ?).

What would really sell these sets would be if BOTH figures showed some attempt at Venomization ! O Wait – that’s for the next Titan Hero releases !.

True to Hasbro this action figure is well made and exquisitely detailed. My four year old Spider-Man enthusiast loves it. But I paid 18. 98 to CLOUD CAVE llc. The package the toy arrived in was an Amazon package and inside was a receipt for 13.

My little ones love to watch Spidey and His Amazing Friends on TV. They are absolutely wild about this Marvel Spidey and His Amazing Friends Spider Crawl-R toy! It’s a versatile, creative, transforming toy with multi-play set up possibilities, and endless imagination.

This toy requires 3 AAA batteries to operate the button on the side which makes sounds. The kids love the sounds, and I don’t find them overly obnoxious,(the children and and sounds). It is designed for preschool aged children.

It’s constructed of a lighter weight plastic which proves to be beneficial. My children seem to find ways to break toys within the first ten minutes of use. Add expected, the Spidey cockpit came off first, but I was relieved to see that it simply snaps right back on.

The ramp for the motorcycle on the back wall the next piece to be handed to me to “fix”. It was also easy to put right back on. I think the flexibility of this lighter weight plastic material, lends itself to allow for mishaps and quick repairs without the entire toy being broken and useless.

Whether this was intentional by design or not, I do appreciate this feature for these tough and rough playing preschoolers. This toy vehicle playset includes one poseable Spidey figure, a toy motorcycle that figure can be placed on, and three miniature musical accessories pieces so Spidey can pretend to have a concert or karaoke night.

I purchased more action figures, separately, to add to the play time fun. I really like how versatile the imaginative this toy is! My children can spend hours every day pretending and playing, and never get bored! This 2-in-1 mobile action figure playset converts from a large-scale rolling toy vehicle into a 2-foot-tall, multi-level tower.

Along with the accessory pieces, and lights and sounds, the creativity and fun are endless. In vehicle mode, this Spidey and His Amazing Friends toy car is 22 inches long and has room in the cockpit for 3 small action figures.

This has brought my 4 year old such joy! And even though my ten year old will deny it, he likes playing with it too! My son loves everything spiderman, so he was absolutely thrilled with this! It has so many little details that make it super fun for him.

He loves the little spidey musical set that comes with it, and it really brings out his imagination. He puts on little spidey singing sessions and shows me how his spiderman uses them! It is so very cute! There is so much space inside for other spidey friends as well, and he packs up all his superheroes in there! Really, a great toy for every spiderman lover!.

Before I even had this out of the box, my grandson was oohing and ahhhing this. It is a lot of fun and my grandson kept entertained for hours. And I even played with it too. Well put together and comes with accessories so you don’t have to by the extras, but they do make separate sets to go with this of you want.

Many different ways to play. You have Spidey that can ride his motorcycle or he can drive the Spidey van. The van opens up and goes up so you can have a lookout. Very nice interactive and a good use your imagination toy.

Really fun expansion to an already great game. The designers do an excellent job of making every villain feel unique and thematic. This pack includes two versions of Green Goblin which highlight his ruthlessness and cunning.

Each one makes the villain feel very menacing and dangerous. One scenario, Mutagen Formula, has you in a direct confrontation with Green Goblin and an assault of minions. It really feels like you are racing against the clock as Goblin’s toxin overtakes the city.

The second scenario, Risky Business, has you up against Norman Osborn trying to overtake Stark Industries. The unique twist here is that he flips between Osborn and Green Goblin. One side scheming while the other attacks you directly.

Great fun and well worth the addition to any fan of Marvel Champions LCG.

This is a good scenario pack. If you like spider-man then you’ll have to get this pack. It offers great spider-man characters to play with and to play against. The scenarios are good and keep you on your toes with the way green goblin powers up his attacks or quickly cascades his scheme points to end the game.

I think that this scenario pack offers a lot of extra content for the money. The modular sets alone can be added to the encounter sets in to the base game injecting extra life to the core schemes. On top of that there are two main scenarios that can be played with.

The Green Goblin scenario pack is very good value for money and a must buy for anyone looking to expand their core game.
