Best Budget Motherboards For Ryzen 5 5600X (2024 Updated)

Purchased this processor along with a new ASUS Tuf Gaming B550 Plus Wi FI MB, 32GB G Skill Ripjaws V32GB RAM, (and SATA DVD +/-rw) to upgrade an ATHLON II based machine. combine equipment to bring desktop up to today’s standards.

MB has many performance features, simple BIOS upgrades, and large RAM capacity. Processor is very fast, and has the ability to overclock, which I may pursue in the future, but do not need at the moment.

Processor also comes with a standard cooler, which manages standard processing temperatures with minimum work. No performance or temp issues are noted at all. RAM is also very stable and able to overclock.

very nice upgrade to 12 year old desktop computer, which now runs flawlessly. included drivers are latest, and all company web sites provide very good update support (including AMD monitor, which will compare current drivers with latest releases and update as needed.

Note: I built my current machine in 2010, which included DDRII, dual core, and existing IDE DVD burner. Updated to 600 watt PS and SSD in last few years, and very happy that I am able to continue with customizing my machine, which is much more stable and sure than the prebuilt machines offered in the big-box stores.

I bought this for the 16 x 60amp NVR, which is good for the price range, but knowing that there would be issues with the BIOS it shipped with. So I was prepared: I had a flash of the updated F6 BIOS ready; I bought the DRAM (Crucial Ballistix 2×16 and also the M.

2 drive WD Black) off Gigabyte’s QVR list. I also installed the Corsair AIO’s backplate before the 12900K CPU, to prevent any flex damaging the chip package (based on problems a few people had with boards of a different manufacturer but the same socket; at any rate that’s how Intel tells you to do it).

The new machine booted right up into BIOS, didn’t recognize the M. 2; I flashed the BIOS right from the BIOS screen, with the machine plugged into a UPS power supply for safety. That went without any problem, and the M.

2 started to work. I had no problem downloading WIFI drivers over an Ethernet connection (for my external Linux-friendly adaptor). After letting Ubuntu update the firmware and a couple of restarts, XMP works fine.

I’m getting the nameplate 3200 mhz there on Profile 1 and 4. 7+ ghz from the CPU at idle. Everything else seems to be working fine. So far, CPU is quite cool and the NVR just slightly elevated in temperature, for what that might be worth — I’ve just completed the build and have not put it under full load yet, so we’ll just have to see how that goes.

Faulty. Not just mine, but every board of this model is faulty. Installing a new bio update to fix m. 2 issue: Simple in comparison to the real issue. If you intend on using your USB port, good luck, as most users including me have reported our devices randomly switching on and off, along with our audio going out.

I’d be playing a game when boom, I keep walking forward, everything disconnects, and I’m just sitting there waiting for the motherboard to decide to turn back on the USB devices again. No fix helped it.

Bios settings, USB settings, power settings, you name it, we’ve all tried it. I swapped to an MSI – PRO Z690-A DDR4 after a lot of people recommended it as an alternative, and haven’t had an issue. The biggest insult to injury, Newegg doesn’t count this as enough for a refund.

You can get a new motherboard, but why would I want to get another broken board? Just save yourself this hassle and get something else.

I upgraded from an average B350M motherboard it took a while for a good Micro ATX AM4 motherboard to be released, but this motherboard is really special and I am very happy with it. It has a very premium feel and the VRM and the heat sink is really impressive.

It has some useful features for the future like PCI-4 gen 4, 2. 5 Gbe and newer CPU support. I also wanted the BT5. 1 for connecting controllers. It is well designed I had no problems installing it in my small case.

All the connectors were in good locations which made cable management easy enough. I especially like the SATA connectors and front USB connector being side on for easier access. The clear CMOS jumper is in a bad position this could cause issues because the GPU is in the way but the BIOS has an option to recover if RAM settings prevent boot so hopefully it will be okay.

The BIOS has loads of options it can be slightly daunting at first but it has very good overclocking support and I have been able to gain some extra speed from my CPU and RAM. The BCLK overclock function has given me another 100Mhz CPU frequency which is amazing.

Overall I think this is the best AM4 MATX motherboard.

Pros: For perspective, this my first motherboard since 2012. I’m quite impressed with it, it’s one of the few b550’s that has quite a few features compared to others. Especially at Matx size. USB C Gen 2 header, is actually here.

So that’s nice. Along side other headers and features. 2 M. 2 and 6 Sata , is really good. Shame it’s not like my old Hero motherboard, but then again this has M. 2. Metal PCI Express X16 is also a nice touch, it makes it feel premium.

Even the VRMs are quite large with intergrated IO, With decent air cooling you can push the motherboard hard. Can’t wait to get a hold of a 5950x to see how good it can be. Bios works fine and is self explanatory, was able to update and customise it quite easily.

Cons: Few more USB ports Bit of a shame that the 2nd M. 2 deactivates the bottom PCI Express. Then again there are 6 SATA ports and I don’t need the bottom PCI slot, since this version already has integrated WIFI/Bluetooth 5.

I’ve had three good builds with Asus MB ‘s from the Athlon era, and this B550 board did not disappoint me. I could quibble about pin locations, side facing SATA ports, and having to cut the button side of the port shield, but these minor things apply to other boards, too.

The flashback feature saved my Ryzen 5600x cpu install. The BIOS download instructions for flashback on Asus website are very literal and must be followed to the letter, as I learned. 1. Use the rename tool with the BIOS download to rename the file from the long download name to the short xxxx.

CAB name. 2. Put the file on the root directory of a flash drive formatted (old) FAT, not FATe. New flash drives are FATe and do not format back to old FAT32. Find a old small capacity one. 3. If the green flashback light flashes three times and stays lit, then the flashback is not working.

4. If flashback is working, the green light blinks on and off for about ten minutes. 5. DO NOT interrupt the flashback process. Give it a good while to be sure it finishes. A small item: I paired this MB with an Asus GTX1650 TUF series graphics card.

Board and card combo is the best looking inside-case hardware I’ve ever seen!.

This is one fabulous looking mainboard with quality components and includes features that come screaming straight at you. I love the way Asus used their TUF colour scheme in the design of the mainboard.

Plenty of USB 3 port availability and also has 2 video out connections to boot (HDMI and Display Port). I also like that they have supplied a matching heatsink for the main NVMe drive. The only downside and issue that I encountered during installation was to get the memory to run at 3200.

The unit failed to post when manually changing the required settings for the profile. It took a bit of searching to find that you have to use slots A2 and B2 in order to use the paired memory at correct speed.

Once that issue was resolved the pc now seems to be running as expected. I bought this mainboard over the 450 chipset in order to have some future upgrade capabilities, including PCIe 4. Also, I had to snap this up as it was on a Black Friday deal.

Hopefully, like my previous Asus mainboard purchases, this product will last me years come.

I bought this last month after it went on offer and I thought it was an absolute steal at the price. It’s got more kit than you know what to do with (I’m using around 6 USB slots, 1 M. 2 PCIe, and most of the SATA) and offers compatibility with both Ryzen 3000 and 5000 CPUs.

On that note, I’m using it with my Ryzen 5600x and it didn’t boot up nicely the first time so I went and used the pretty slick BIOS USB flashback feature. It worked perfectly and the board fired up. At this point I still had no image so I googled to find that my GTX 1070 needed a bit of an update to work with DP on the newer boards.

It was fine on HDMI so I quickly got that sorted. Overall it’s a great board and I’ve had no issues with it so far. I’m using the same Corsair 3200MHz RAM that struggled to run at 2933MHz on my B350 board and I’m tootling along well at 3200MHz with pretty much no adjustments (16-16-16-16-36 and 1.

35V). I won’t be overclocking but may well try out some faster RAM seeing how nicely this one runs. Definitely recommended as an alternative to the MSI and Gigabyte stuff, especially when the pricing is so competitive.

Got good deal on this board and it’s working great with Ryzen 3600. Very solid and stable, running smoothly with 3200 RAM. Not tried overclocking. Fan controls are passable.

I bought this as part of a build to replace an old i5 6600k gaming pc. I’ve paired it with a ryzen 3700x and the difference is night and day. This motherboard was easy to install and set up. I’m impressed.

This Motherboard is an absolutely fantastic bit of kit. I’ve built a couple of systems using this board and it’s by far one of the most stable and reliable boards I’ve personally ever used. There were a couple of minor teething issues to begin with (as there usually are when any new platform releases), particularly with the onboard audio and LAN, but these soon got ironed out once the BIOS had time to ‘mature’.

From a technical standpoint the board is absolutely superb as it just oozes quality and comes packed full of awesome features. The Wi-Fi in particular is incredibly good (one of the most reliable I’ve used in fact), and it comes with a whopping 13 rear USB ports (a nice mix of USB 2.

0, 3. 2 Gen 1 and 2, and one Type C). The aesthetic of the board is also very good, one of Gigabyte’s nicer looking boards in my opinion. It’s a nice blend of matte black and gun metal which will suit most builds, and there’s even a teeny bit of RGB thrown into the mix if you’re into that.

The only negative point I can think of about this board is the fact that there’s no RGB Fusion option in the BIOS. It would be good to be able to control the RGB from the BIOS as opposed to Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion software, which can be a bit temperamental sometimes.

Overall, I would highly recommend grabbing one of these if your looking to put a stable and reliable system together that has most, if not all the bells and whistles you will need. A big shout out to Scan as well for their absolutely top notch service as always.

As you can see in the other reviews, the simplicity of this board is what makes this a great product. Easy to build on, plenty of headers, and aesthetically satisfying (minus the RGB). Since I like my PC flashy the RGB on this board is very miniscule.

If you’re looking for something bright this board is not for you. Now the BIOS is where I have to shed one star off this review. The settings where you adjust fan speed is designed for advanced PC users.

For casual users like myself this was a bit tricky. Other boards I dealt with makes this function a lot simpler, and easy to customize. In terms of overclocking, I can’t comment on that since that is something I do not do.

I would still highly recommend this board due to the price and as mentioned above the build simplicity,.

So I have not even got this motherboard working. I have a Ryzen 5600G processor, 32 gb of regulars 3200 g-skill ram, a msi 3070 ti and a MSI nvme drive. All of which is moot, because I can’t update the bios to F13 which includes the 5600G CPUs.

I can’t do a regular qflash in the bios because I can’t load the bios, I can’t use qflash plus because it seems to fail every time. I got this motherboard in a shuffle and I waited till I could afford a GPU and CPU and ram,.

Around Christmas it finally happened. But now the motherboard is basically dead to me. I have been told I need an older CPU to boot with so I can use the regular bios flash tools so my CPU will work.

I don’t have the money or access to old Ryzen CPUs, I’m just frustrated,. This should not be this difficult, and with supply shortages and long waits, shuffle bundle deals makes being able to return stuff nearly impossible.

I’m stuck with a board I basically can’t use. Tired of trying.

The MSI B450 Gaming PLUS Max motherboard spec wise fitted my requirements. I searched the MSI site to find compatible memory and M2 SSD. The hardware installtion went well. Installation of Windows 10 Pro was occasionally intereupted by the loss of keyboard and/or mouse.

When I started to use the new PC in anger I reoeatedly lost the kayboard and/or mouse. After carefully experimenting with alternative keyboard and mouse I concluded that the problem with the USB ports on the MSI motherboard.

This was confirmed by comments on the web. I eventially overcame the problem by installing a PCI-e USB board. If the memory and M2 ssd I had bought were compatible I would have return the motherboard as faulty and erplaced it with a Ausu or Gygabyte.
