To quote a recent widow to whom I gave the book, “I forgot to tell you how much I liked the book! The drawings are wonderful! I think it’s well suited to people whose grief isn’t ‘brand new’ but have had time to live a bit of life post-loss.

The allegory is sensitively developed. ” I agree with her about waiting a little while (a few weeks?) before offering the book to the person. Helpful as the information is, they probably need time to process their loss on their own before being given a “how to” book, good as it is.

It is far more than a “how to” book, for sure, but at the beginning the person is faced with physical details to take care of beyond the funeral – bank accounts, insurance stuff, and other things that must be done.

Giving the person some space before giving them the book is a wise idea, in my estimation. But it definitely is a good resource for anyone dealing with people with any kind of major loss, whether you’re just the friend who is helping, or the person going through it.

Best book about personally dealing with grief. It helps you to understand everyone is different and it has to be done your own way. It look like a children’s book but it is for all ages just like grief.

l got it after my 25 year old son died from cancer and l could not quit crying. l have given out about 10 copies to others that needed it. Deals with ALL types of grief.

Although this appears to be a childrens book it is relavent to anyone of any age going through grief not only from death, but divorce or any major life event. I bought it as it was recommended to me by my grief therapist.

The authors obviously know what they are talking about and puts it in simple to understand plain language hence it is good for kids too. In todays world everything is about doing everything fast, don’t dwell on the past hurry, hurry, hurry.

This applies to people suffering loss the most. People assume that within a month you should basically be over things and on to life. Yippeee right? NOT! When you lose a significant person in your life it tells you things will never be the same which is true.

Your world has changed but tells you it is ok to cry, and grieve as long as needed. There is no right or wrong way to do things. We have become sadly a disposable society in which our gadgets seem to have more importance than the most precious things in life.

Our love and connections to other people. Having experienced the loss of every family member and the last 4 all in one year I have seen how people react. The week after you return to work etc. everyone says they are sorry and the usual things and 2 weeks later it is back to normal supposedly.

I have heard the same story from widows. How they knew as soon as a month or so went by all of their friends would be back living their lives and forgot about their loss and expected them to do the same.

This book tells you it is important to never forget and to cherish the sad parts and happy parts of that life with your loved one you are grieving. How that part will never be over. How you tuck it away in that special place and revisit it as often as you need to.

Really well written how they incorporated the feelings into a recipe that you can go back to all during the remainder of your life. My thanks to these wonderful authors who got it so right! I also loved the illustrations along the way.

Left me in a whirlwind. So many emotions and I felt like I was lost on a raft riding the waves of grief. During this time I felt crazy, like I was the only person in world who did and felt the I did.

This book helped me to understand some of the waves and helped me steer the raft. It’s only been 5 months since we lost him, and I have a long way to go but this was a helpful book.

I read the book a year and a half when my mom passed. It was a very interesting read. I just wanted to re-read it because Im in a different mindset. I would recommend this book for anyone who has lost a love one.

My partner died early in January. He was only 58. Healthy and active. The police wouldn’t do a welfare check on him after I hadn’t heard from him since Christmas day. I rang them multiple times. If they’d gone out when I first rang he would have been alive.

The book is helping me with my anger, despair and the feeling that my world has collapsed. It will be a long grieving as we had been together for 25 years. It was so sudden, and I had to identify his body.

I’m still traumatised. We were going to get married and had exchanged rings. It helps to know my feelings are valid and real. His family used to treat me as one of their own. Now they are shunning me.

I’m feeling very alone. But I’m reading a few pages a night, which is all I can deal with at the moment. I’m noting passages that I feel particularly applies to our lost relationship. It’s a comfort.

I bought this book the exact day we lost our dog. I was so emotional i couldn’t cope with how hard it was to lose our dog and the girls had a hard time too. When we got this book we had some tears as it brought back memories.

In addition, it brought joy in our hearts. Not long ago in the fall we also lost my cockteil and my toddler loved her so much and it was very hard. They kept going outside to try and save her saying she cant breathe underground.

I also bought The Travel Guide to Heaven for kids with this book and both of these together helped their little hearts to heal. Mine too. We will all be together in heaven someday. And we live off of hope.

Hope never dies and it brought comfort that both our animals are free and happy now, waiting for us to join them.

You will love this book. I bought several as gifts. It is not only for those who are grieving for their dog but also for those who still have a pet or several. We have a little 9-year-old Cavalier that is so sweet and lovable, and in good health, but Just the thought that some day she will leave us to go to doggy heaven, I’d be very sad.

Ever since I got this book, I’m no longer concerned of losing her. I know I will be sad, but now I am also convinced that she will have her place in heaven.

Love this little book, it’s the second time purchasing it. First when my daughters cat passed away, and most recently when our fur baby Hercules passed. It’s a gift of hope we’ll see our pets again in heaven.

I read this whole series when I was younger and thought I had saved the whole collection. Looking to start reading them again, I noticed I had somehow lost the first of the saga, ironically, Lord Loss.

Finding a copy in used condition, which I was happy with, in the same illustration as I remembered and at a very good price, I was even more thrilled when it was delivered faster than estimated. I finished an excitable read within days around my life and have placed this book in its rightful place on my shelf as I devour the continuing story.

Although this book isn’t crucial in the development in story to begin with, it is a wonderful introduction to this world and characters. Darren Shan is a fantastic writer of horrific encounters.

I bought this for my 13 year old Grandson, as his Teacher had mentioned that he needed to read more, (reading is not one of his favourite subjects!) My Daughter reports that he has become very engrossed in the story, werewolves demons etc seem to appeal to Teenage boys! I expect we’ll be getting him another Darren Shan book soon.

I found this book really helpful. I lost my daughter Annie in January. The book explains the feelings we in grief are going through,, it explains the questions we ask ourselves but darnt ask others. I have already recommended this book to a friend, it has helped me to realise Im going through a normal passage of grief its great to pick up and put down any time and go back to read the passages that affect you most.

This is the best book ever to help anyone through a difficult death! It is a very easy read and you will read it over and over and over!!

Chopra writes well and does a wonderful job of explaining complex subjects. In this book, he blends Eastern and Western religious and philosophical views on death and the after life. In addition, Chopra shows how science has been studying NDE (near death events), memories of past lives, and the ways in which physics adds to our concepts and understanding of what happens after physical death.

Inspiring and uplifting.

Opens your mind to many areas of spirituality and to get you to understand your body, mind and soul better! Good book!

depak chopra goes way over board in bringing me the best that there is. this is an awsome book worth reading at least 4 times

James van Praagh wrote an extremely insightful book. My husband died months ago and i was devastated. We had no children and no family, and had moved to a state where we knew no one. I was so completely lost in my grief until i read this book.

I am now so much better due to the author’s advice and his knowledge of dying. Probably the best book i’ve ever bought in decades.

I bought this book because I recently lost my mom and we were best friends! I needed something to help me, I felt that maybe one of James’ books could do that. I was very moved by this book, it was like it was speaking to me on so many levels.

I will never be over my loss, but I certainly have a better understanding and can deal a little better. I know this is a book I will read over and over, and I don’t normally read books (I know I should!) but I have read James Van Praagh books before, Talking to the Heavens and Reaching for the Heavens, both wich I also highly recomend.

He doesnt believe that Jesus dies on the cross for our sins. Van Praagh rejects the idea that Jesus is the unique, virgin-born Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. He believes in reincarnation, which the Bible does not teach.

What does he believe? That we are all God. Sorry, I just don’t buy it. He is either deceived by a evil spirit or is a con artist. The true sign of a prophet is that all their predictions come true 100% of the time, his do not.

Purchased this book for family member who just lost his wife. He let me know it was a good book to help deal with his loss. Easy to read, not overwhelming.

Absolutely beautiful. It is poetic and somewhat disjointed at times so I can see why it wouldn’t appeal to everyone. But I will re-read this one just for the beauty of his sentences – you know the ones that are so well-expressed that they make you stop and take a breath.

If you like prose or verse novels or poetry or anything a little left of centre, give this a go.

I lost my husband in March. This book was given to me by a precious friend. I read it daily, not just one day, but usually two, because it is so wonderful. All are so inspiring and bring me such comfort and hope.

I have bought one, and gave it to a friend who just lost a three year old grand daughter. but want to purchase several to give to others who lose a loved one. My friend loves the book, too. They begin with a meaningful quote, followed by a statement of hope and a sentence of encouragement.

I found this book in 1984 when my Father died. Its simplicity and empathy were tremendous. I shared it with my Mother and she also found help with her grief. She was so touched by its message that she bought a dozen and gave it to friends who had lost a loved one.

I too shared the book and asked that the receiver pass it on. Its now 2020 and old friends still remember this special book.

I only read an excerpt of this book but was not impressed. In the analogy of the blacksmith, she describes blacksmithing all wrong. Then she goes on to say that the “Devine Blacksmith” heats and pounds out things in our life that need to change, like tears.

Since when are tears wrong? That mentality has caused so much damage over the years and it needs to change.

This is a great book for anyone who has loss a love one. I brought several books to send with sympathy cards. They books were well received. I was asked where I got the book because she wanted to send one to her other grieving family members.

A great personal journal from the Author, C.S. Lewis. If you are or have experienced Grief, this is a great book to read. It’s an older book but human emotions never change. Highly Recommend!

Great book for christians dealing with loss of a loved one, causing one to question God’s goodness or even His existence. Deep grief. Deep pain. Heavy duty reading. I have read it through, and must read it again.
