20 Best At Home Bleach Kit For Dark Hair (2023 Updated)

I am one of those lucky ones (ahem. not. ) with fair skin, but nearly black hair. Of course this means my forearms (ugh and let’s face it, my upper lip too) have been the bane of my existence since I was in middle school and some girl that nobody much liked mentioned them, not once, but TWICE, while we were partnered for study time.

You know this is the kind of thing that scars a girl for life emotionally, especially at the tender pre-teen years. Enter my high school years, my license to drive, and my discovery of Sally’s Extra Strength Creme Bleach.

For the first time in my life I didn’t mind wearing short sleeves. I got my first boyfriend. Was this because of my nearly invisible and barely-noticeable-anymore arm hair? Who knows, but he did stick around for six more years and my arm hair never came up, so.

Anyway, my skin is super sensitive and most times the bleach mixture doesn’t bother me. Occasionally my arms burn a bit when using, so I just take it off and try again another day. Generally if I keep up with it I can go about 3-4 weeks between uses.

If I go too long I have to bleach my arms a couple times within a couple days to get the hair light enough. It does bleach my skin temporarily (like 15 minutes). Don’t put it on right after a hot shower, and use cold water to rinse the mixture away.

I always follow with a nice calming lotion.

I have naturally black hair. My first time using it took 3 applications. Not unusual for me having black hair. Takes a couple of applications of hair dye when I want to lighten my hair. The first use didn’t take as well, but there was a difference.

So much so that I thought the 2nd application would do, but it said. Perhaps I didn’t mix the mixture properly because the 3rd time I ended up with a strawberry blonde mustache It’s ok, we’re wearing masks, lol.

However, my mustache did darken back up. Could be a result of no sun exposure, because of the masks. I didn’t let it get back to normal, but it was noticable. This time it took only one application, and the color was perfect.

I would recommend. I had barely any irritation. Helpful hint, use the pre conditioner afterwards for any irritation. Goes away immediately.

I’ve been using this for YEARS after a friend told me she used it! Before this i would wax, used nair, even did laser hair removal on my entire body. I’m Hispanic. Light skin dark body hair so no blonde tiny peach fuzz exists on my body.

But when i use this, my confidence. i just feel so much better. I use this on my back, stomach, chest, face, upper arms. I wax my forearm but using this makes me feel just so much happier and i can wear shirts that show my skin without feeling self conscious of my dark body hair! I use it maybe once a month! I love this stuff sooooo much.

Just wish more product was in the box.

First off, let me start by saying I have Asian black/brown hair, which doesn’t take bleaching very well, and I don’t bleach or dye my hair that often either. I’ve never used boxed bleach kits before, but wanted to try this out after seeing it at Ulta.

2/3’s of my hair was previously bleached and dyed purple. This was about 2 months ago, the color had already faded. This time around I decided to color the other 1/3 of my hair. Packaging: The only issue I had was the tube for the bleach cream.

The tube with the cream was hard to get out, I had to cut the opposite end just to make sure I got all the product out. Product: Like I said, bleaching/dyeing my hair is not something I do often. This is just a review from my experience.

The bleach turned my pre-bleached hair pretty white after about 5 minutes. The rest of the hair that wasn’t previously bleached took about 40 minutes to lighten to a yellowish color. The bleach has a greasy feeling to it, which I’m guessing is a good thing to keep your hair healthy? I didn’t like that greasy feeling, but I can deal with it.

After bleaching I washed, shampooed and conditioned my hair, as well as using a hair mask. My hair doesn’t have that dry feeling like the other products I’ve used. I’m actually going to use it again tomorrow to go over the yellow parts of the hair before dyeing it red.

I’m not one to write reviews but I here I am at 2:30 in the morning, writing one after what just happened to me. I ran out of unicorn hair bleach for the right side of my head and applied Arctic fox (probably a terrible idea overall to mix two different brands but that’s beside the point) with Arctic fox, I went through the most painful experience I have ever been through which lasted over 2 hours.

I am a tough gal but I had to cut the development short by 10 min, my right side of my head is lumpy and swollen, I can’t even move my hair around, my scalp hurts so bad. When Paul Atreides stuck his hand inside of the box, i imagine this is the pain he had felt on his hand.

It was sooo painful to apply the hair color afterwards because of shifting of hair around that now my hair is 5 different shades from white to orange. The box says to not wash your hair for 2 days at minimum.

I hadn’t washed my hair for 3 days. I remember because I was trying to time the days along with my birthday and Thanksgiving day and it still burned the heck out of me. The unicorn worked beautifully no pain – felt really nice – this is the way.

I wish I had two boxes of Unicorn Hair Bleach Party to use. Never again.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I used this. I have really reached an amazing blonde and I got this for my roots! I must admit the name was super catchy and I liked it had everything included with the notion that it was healthier for your hair.

When I first started I should have known and stopped right away. The bleach was impossible to squeeze out and I never saw that before – there was a lot of mixture and it was runny. I read the instructions 3x before using to make sure this was right and no where did it warn of these things.

I feel like if I would have let it set for 10 min and it got thicker and mousse like it work: I left in full 45 min on virgin hair and I knew it was awful before I washed out – super brassy and yellow.

My hair doesn’t feel damaged or dried out but for something that advertises lift 8 levels – the full time and no where near lifted. It’s horrible and maybe a toner will help but – seriously disappointed.

I purchased this in conjunction with the 20 Creme Developer – and that’s all you need! I have half-and-half hair: one side is black, the other, pink. Naturally, however, I have dark brown hair so while I don’t need to do my roots as often for my darker side, I do have to regularly upkeep the pink side.

I absolutely destroyed my hair years ago with Splat and other drugstore bleaches years ago (most of those are 40 Developer!) and I am here to tell you – you don’t need higher volumes! This works just as well.

Sometimes my roots can come out pretty brassy still but it’s an easy fix with toner or a purple shampoo. This bottle and tub have lasted me months, I bought them in December and while I am running low, I have enough for another root touch up.

I spent a little under $25 for the both of these and having gotten multiple applications out of them as you make what you need (instead of box dyes where you have to make and use it all then and there) – it’s definitely worth the switch!.

This Clairol bleach lightener powder definitely gets the job done. The lift is great just tend to make the hair a little dried out. I typically like to use this product on bundles or enchanting more so than natural hair for the fact that it leaves my natural hair feeling a bit dry.

But it definitely gives great lift so that a plus if you need a budget friendly alternative to do at home.

This is my first time using this bleach. I usually use a Wella bleach from Sally’s. I heard that this is a very common bleach for at home bleaching. I wanted allot of bleach for cheap, since I can’t go out and get my usual bleach (thanks to covid).

This is a great size, especially if you just want to keep up on your roots, this will last you a while I imagine. It is less dusty than average bleach, however I noticed the texture of the bleach powder isn’t as a finally ground as other bleaches.

It has more of a slight crumb texture to it. But, this doesn’t cause any issues as far as I know, it’s just something I noticed. It is a white bleach! Just keep that in mind, it will make your hair orange if your going from a really dark shade.

I used it as a bleach bath and it works as expected. Overall it’s a good deal for a good amount of bleach, it’s not super dusty. I would recommend especially if you are looking for an affordable bleach.

I never want to use another brand of lightener for my hair at home besides GDY! It’s got the best consistency and is so easy to apply. It doesn’t drip, it doesn’t run, and if you pass the patch test, it doesn’t fry your scalp to bits of you accidentally get it too much of it on your skin for a few minutes.

Its developer is not too severe (25 vol. ), meaning you can take your time with application and not worry about the first sections you applied it to getting too light or becoming brittle and weak from the process of the formula.

I especially was grateful for this in my most recent bleach sesh, as I ran out of bleach mid-sesh and had to have my dad buy more! The first sections ended up enduring a few hours with the lightener on them, but they came out virtually unscathed in terms of texture and strength! Plus, they got SO LIGHT that even my new phone’s camera had real trouble capturing the result 😂 If you have hair like mine with low-porosity, a.

k. a. it takes forever to get wet and takes forever to dry, and you want a lightener that’ll take you up to level 9+ safely, this one is the holy grail. Just make sure to buy enough boxes of it ahead of time! 😉.

I did my research and saw the reviews and it seemed like a good product to lighten my hair without too much damage or irritation. Well I guess I was wrong because as soon as I got to my roots to start to finish the application it was burning.

My hair was really damaged afterwards. Luckily no hair fell out but still. Usually if I get bleach damage I can easily fix it but this time it’s being tricky. This stuff really messed up my hair. I have lightened my hair before with box stuff and it was much more pleasant.

There is so much brass too. That’s what I get for being lazy and not going to CosmoProf and enjoying free shipping at Sephora.

This is arguably one of the best lightening kits I’ve used. It lifts super fast even with a 25 vol developer and it’s one of the more even bleach jobs I’ve given myself. I have chin-length hair and I had to use two boxes, maybe a professional could have gotten away with using one, but I’m glad I had two on hand.

My hair was kind of cruncy and weird feeling but after a deep conditioning treatment, my hair feels great!.

ENCHANTED FOREST MANIC PANIC HAIR DYE. I’ve always had mixed experiences with manic panic hair dye. If you want the advertised shade you need very white blonde hair, if your hair is brown, black, tinted with any other color it will always come out another shade.

Usually still a beautiful and unique shade but you should expect it be different then the packaging color. I achieved this shade with a faded green and put the enchanted forest hair dye on top. The dye smells good and fruity in my opinion.

It’s thick, and if you don’t shampoo often it will last a long time! The dye is thick and I’ve always achieved gorgeous shades with this brand.

Manic Panic is a pretty good brand of dye for fashion (un natural/ vibrant/ rainbow) colors. Personally. I recommend Arctic Fox. But Manic Panic is pretty good. The colors stay vibrant for about 2-3 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair and what shampoo you use.

But Arctic fox lasts longer. Manic panic are however, brighter colors they just fade faster. There are only two brands of dye I will use on my hair and this is one of them.

horrible. way less in the box than their other bleach and it dried on contact with my hair. it caused irritation and didnt lift my hair nearly as well aa their other flash lightening projects. it left a dust in my hair causing it to snow when i tried brushing my hair after the shower and damaged my hair.

it also locked up my hair and made it impossible to part or section my hair. was missing the gloves, hair cap, and mixing bowl.

I have been using this hair color for about 10 years. I have dark brown hair and I leave it on roots for 50 minutes, use purple shampoo for toner and the color is exactly like the picture on the box.

Only use 1/2 box a month. Mix it in a bowl and apply with a brush. Not a week goes by that someone doesn’t stop me and ask where I get my hair colored. And the funniest thing is that I work at a salon!.

Hello ladies, This will be the 2nd time I have written a review on this said product. I have used thia multiple times but this will be the second review because sometimes results change. Product can be the same without the identical finished product.

Upon using this with lighter roots as before i had light to medium brown roots. My hair came out amazing. No toner needed. No purple shampooing in the shower for weeks. Absolutely perfect color. Now ladies I am a firm believer on off scalp lightening I do not take it to the root on my scalp i leave about 1/4 inch gap.

As i said before I love this product. Ni Sally beauty supply run and very cheap. Kit comes with instructions, gloves, bleach, developer, cream lightener, toner, after care wash and applicator tips.

my hair color is super flat and boring with absolutely no highlights whatsoever. I started using the Loreal super blonde number 200 and it works well. My fiance then found number 205 and it makes my hair look beautiful like one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends! I have amazing highlights and it does not make my hair look flat or boring whatsoever! I love this and I will never use any other dye! The scary saying is my hair is super thin but this has never cause serious irreparable damage.

Whenever I am done my hair is always super soft! So soft as a matter of fact it is difficult to put up the next morning because it is like silk and slips between my fingers. I would recommend this product to absolutely anybody that wants to go a natural looking pretty blonde.

Great kit, lightening my hair was really easy and worked really well for my balyage. You don’t get alot of bleach but it does work really well and I have had no snapping or thinning of hair, would recommend to anyone wanting to take atleast 4 shades lighter from a strong dark brown.

Bought two i have medium length hair and brown and i tried applied two other all the hair but didnt bleach well as it was too little. It is really a waste of money. I spoke to a professional who told me i needed 5 pack to be able to bleach them well.

I dont recommend this except for only roots.

I was literally terrified while trying this product because I’m very fond of my hair lol but it surprisingly worked great! It did not damage my hair much at all, if any. I would just like to add that you might need 2 packs depending on your hair, if I were to bleach my hair to the roots then I’d need 2 packs but my hair is down to my waist.

I love that it is a all in one kit. It’s made specifically for dark hair. It comes with everything you need, gloves, hair cap, plastic hair puller hook/stirrer, developer, bleach and I think even a small applicator brush and small bowl.

I used it on my daughter’s hair which was recently colored a dark 3N brown a few days prior. The kit didn’t work as well as I wanted. I didn’t use the cap and used foils instead. Where I started the strands were so white- it actually became hot under the foils and those hairs began breaking off, fried! As it took me a hour to do the whole head foiled (high lites) where I finished was more of a med, red brown.

Lol. So it looks more like a calico cat. Nothing I can’t fix so I’m not too worried But, being the Bleach did fry parts of her hair, I’m going to wait a while to fix it and allow her hair time to heal.

The developer is 35V I believe. Now the 2nd kit I bought I used on my SIL. Didn’t use any foil or cap, just Brushed it on in the areas and places I wanted. His hair is also a dark brown. His took nicely.

All over mainly the same shade came out. Not platinum but blonde. Not orange. I did use purple shampoo on them both after, and they continue to use the purple shampoo a few days a week to keep the brassiness away.

I think using the foils just made the length of time from the first to the last put in, like a hour difference. So I should have rinsed the foils that were done processing out. And left the others on a 30-40 min longer but it was late and I was tired at the time and didn’t think.

Lol. The one I did without foil or cap, just Brushed on, i was able to have the whole head finished in 10 mins applying it so no one area was sitting with bleach on it then another area. All around I like it I like the all in one kit.

But it doesn’t come with alot. I needed 2 for my daughter’s hair. And she has short shoulder length hair, AND I didn’t do her entire head, just thin high lights. The other one was a boy, with short hair, above ears and it required a whole kit.

so if you have hair to your shoulders I suggest getting 2. If it’s longer buy more.

I got this product the first time for my daughter (black), and did an ombré over her hair that is partially a natural lv 1 and partial blue. It turned out decent (fantastic considering her multi-toned hair), completely taking out the blue.

I bought this product today for myself (mixed Blk/wht) and did an ombré on my natural lv2 hair. My hair isn’t damaged at all, still has its natural curl pattern, didn’t come out brassy at all! Beautiful tones, no toner needed unless you’re going for a very specific tone.

I also used the product I had left over on a friend, her hair also being dark and ethnic, and it came out just as beautiful. I cannot recommend this product enough! (I NEVER write reviews, but this deserves it.

) -I did get my cosmetology license in 2015, although it has expired. I no longer work in the beauty industry, but I have a good amount of knowledge.

Best home highlighting kit!! I can’t believe I spent $15 when I would normally pay $150 at a salon. I only used half of the kit because I wanted just to touch up my roots. I kept the bleach on for 50 minutes like the directions said.

It lifted perfectly. The only thing I added was a pale ash blonde toner afterwards for that icy look. I can’t believe how beautiful it came out!.

Quick blue works great! It has worked better for me than any other lightning powder I’ve ever used. I am very satisfied with results. It worked very well with a 40 volume developer to get my hair light enough so Arctic Fox color would be extremely vibrant and fun! I often recommend quick blue to family and friends.

Will continue to buy at Sally’s and use this product. My hair is naturally dark brown/black. In the darker picture below I was lightened with a couple bleach baths and previously had Arctic fox colors Wrath and Purple af in it.

I had not used color remover before bleaching, mostly because I really dislike the smell. Also, I am definitely not a professional. I am just doing this for fun and because I like it. In my opinion, life is too short and its just hair, it grows back.

So have fun and do what you want. Cut it short, color it blue, pink, green, who cares. As long as you like it, it is your hair after all. Don’t let anyone or even yourself hold you back from doing what you want! I hope this review will help someone out there.

I have bleached my hair before an the directions on this product not great 2 ozs is not enough developer it was like baking soda once it had mixed tried to get it in my hair in fpur sections like it says nope was like cement trying to put in my hair.

My husband ended up putting more developer in my hair to try an mix it in an for it to spread more thank god he did cause otherwise it qouldve been patches. Npte i ended up using 2 packets an still not enough I highly dont recommend using this product at all shimmerimg white an developer a lot better.

I couldnt remember what i used last time so igave this a try. It didnt work my hair is now orangish red lookimg an still can see brown to. Called the one I went to years ago they told me shimering white purple label an npw that I see it i can remember that was it an it will get it done first time make sure when you do this it is like a cake batter not a baking soda mixture wont work an it was burning me at the end to.

Not for use if you want platinum WHITE hair however, I do like this product line. The mixing bowl it comes with is VERY small which makes it hard to effectively mix the product well, so I’d make sure you have your own bowl.

Also, I like the brush, but if you have a lot of hair, I’d buy a bigger brush. Being 40Vol you need to work fast. I have long, thick, course, platinum hair. First application, I used 2 boxes on just my roots, let sit for 2 hours, and then washed out.

I would not recommend 2hrs but I do not have a sensitive scalp, kept it fully saturated, bag over my head, kept checking it. I then had to use 2 toning masks (1 blue & 1 purple) for several hours each in my hair, & then rebleached my roots with 20vol, higher quality bleach.

After that, I “Toned it” with a purple shampoo. & Now 2 weeks later I still have to buy toner for my roots. This is my first time using this bleach kit. Normally I only have to bleach & tone once within a week & I am done.

I’m a product junkie so I thought I’d give it a shot! I will admit that to “normal people” they say my hair is white, but anyone who is platinum and picky like me, all you see is yellow LOL I would recommend this product but for VERY small outgrowth, touch ups, for blonde hair results (not white), or use prior to then coloring your hair a fun color 🙂 I also would recommend this if you are someone who has hair that lifts fast (just careful with 40vol) or whose roots are lighter.

I have BLACK hair! And I meant B L A C K!!! My hair dressers over the years, asian or not, all made comments about how black my hair is LOL I never have luck trying to lighten my hair! I’ve bleached it couple times in my life, and every single time it ended with my scalp hurts or burns or my eyes just waters because of the fume no matter how/where/what they do, I do have pretty sensitive skin in general.

But I was ok the whole process. Recently after the pandemic, I have no really color my hair for a year, I just feel like changing it up without going to salon, so I figured I’ll just try this. I have thick hair slightly longer than shoulder length so I bought two boxes, and it’s pretty good amount to cover everything.

20 minutes into it, my hair is already gotten so light I’m pleasantly surprised! But that also is kinda of a double edge sword cuz I have not done applying to my whole head which made it pretty uneven! But that’s something I kinda know would’ve happened since I’m not a pro anyway! I’m hoping in a month when I do this the second time, when it’s so light it’ll be more even since they should be almost white.

My hair is rather healthy when I started with this, I can feel my hair gotten flat and don’t have the bouncy-ness anymore after bleaching. Again, this is expected since no bleach is really good for any hair anyway.

There’s some breakage too but not too bad. I do prep my scalp with oil and protection treatment well before going in, and I suggest everybody to do so, it won’t hurt!.

It does its job. You will not have any pigment left in your hair. That said it is very harsh and not something I reccomend. I used it in high school once when I. got it in my head that I wanted pink hair.

Go to the hairdresser. I know this I have multiple in my family. I was being a teenager when I used this but I am encouraging teens and everyone else to leave it to the professionals. I had very short hair at the time so the damage went away quickly.

Golden rules. If you are going to bleach it then tone it. Leave it to the professionals they are trained ( they know the exact time to leave things on, what to do if ___ happens,etc etc)and practiced (daily ,at work, on all hair types) you do not know more than them.

You can spot a bottle job a mile a way. You do not possess the same skills as a hairdresser and what comes in those bottles is not quality. Also you can’t colour over colour. Sorry for rant. It works but is bad for you.

Don’t use it or do anything at home. Go to the salon.

I’m so happy with my order. I used the at home bleach kit, which actually worked to take my hair from dark brown to light blonde. I washed able to go bright pink 🙂 I love their products, very well priced and easy to use, with great results.

I have hair below my shoulders. Mixed Caribbean and European hair. Very dark ash brown (almost black) and the bottom half had been bleached previously and died dark blue. My hair is thick, naturally frizzy, in pretty good condition although it’s naturally dry so I often have to use a good moisturiser conditioner.

I had put coconut oil on my hair the day before I used this bleach as I thought I might have to leave the bleach on for longer then recommended and apply heat in order to get my dark hair past that brassy yellow stage.

HOWEVER I DIDN’T HAVE TO DO EITHER OF THOSE THINGS. I had brought 3 packets as so many customers complained of running out, however I was almost able to do all my hair with just 1 pack. I used the second pack to slather it on really thick just to make sure I had even coverage.

(So now I have a spare pack that will do 2 lots of roots as the powder comes in 2 sachets and the developer is in a closable bottle) When I mixed the power and liquid i didn’t have any problem with clumping like some people had complained.

I put in the developer a little at a time mixing as I went. (Also used my own bowl as the one they give u is a bit small and has corners which I think makes stirring a little harder). The mixture did thicken over time so I was sure to use it as soon as it was mixed.

(But I could have always water it down with conditioner if i need to). But it was still useable 20mins later when I was finishing – just a lot more like a moose. Once I had covered my hair (did the roots last as they always take quicker) I put a plastic shower cap on my head and wrapped in a towel to keep the heat in (but I didn’t add any extra heat – although if I had fragile or light hair i probably wouldn’t have wrapped my hair) The box says 20-90 mins.

I was expecting to need the full 90 and to whack a hairdryer on it for the last 10mins (which is very bad for my hair) – but when I checked after 50 mins it was almost there and by 60 mins I had it rinsed out.

My hair wasn’t at all dry or weakened or that matted tangle that i sometimes get. (Although the coconut oil may have helped a bit there) BUT the colour was amazing: it was almost platinum white with only a hint of pale yellow in the mid lengths.

The ends that had been dark blue were white with a hint of grey. If I had a toner I would haven been tempted just to keep the platinum blond!! That’s how good it was. But I had emerald green to put on (also by Crazy Color – I used 2 bottles of that).

And the emerald green took brilliantly on top with even cover, even over where the white had been different tints. I did finish with a long condition with Aussie Moisturiser Conditioner. Then I towel dried and used straighteners to straighten my hair.

So now in 1 go, I have gone from very dark down with electric blue ends, to a brilliant vivid emerald green and it cost me about 20 altogether. And my hair is smooth, silky and shiny and a brilliant strong colour.

So the 2 things I took away from this – I will always use coconut oil (this was the first time I tried it and it definitely helps) and – for great quality at a really good price I am sticking with Crazy Color.

Loved this bleaching kit. It’s so simple to mix and apply, the colour came out really well. The whole kit was brilliant with the hat, gloves and applicator brush which are all reusable. I’ve kept them and use them every time I dye my hair.

I’d definitely buy it again if I needed the whole kit.

This worked fantastic! Not only that, it smelled nice, and had GREAT directions! That’s super important when it comes to bleaching hair. I was able to lighten my daughters hair at least 7 shades for her to do her purple streak.

I left it only a half hour because I didn’t want to break her hair off, so just imagine if I left it 15 more minutes for the total time?! I’m just so totally pleased with this user/beginner friendly bleach.

Totally recommend. In fact, I’ve already purchased another box for my kids next round. One thing I will note, is not a lot comes in it, I would’ve needed maybe 2-3 boxes for her whole head, but it’s great for doing a couple streaks on short hair or one on long.

they want you to believe that this is the original formula that they’ve had since the 1970s. It is not the original formula and their customers know it. It does not work anymore. you can leave it on for 2 hours and it still won’t work like it used to.

what a shame. you take a great product and then you ruin it and then have the nerve to put the word original formula on the box which is so not true. You’ve lost my entire family as customers.

Just used this for the first time on my upper lip: Cons: 1. it burns me. Makes me wonder how strong the normal version is! However, it doesn’t burn enough to need to remove it. 2. There really needs to be a tiny measuring spoon.

I basically had to do it by eye which obviously effects the mixture.

I used a measuring spoon to get the ratio of powder to cream correct. It worked well at lightening the hair once I got the measurements right. I did not leave this on the entire time it recommends on the instructions because I started to have a slight burning sensation.

It lightened the hair well after about 10 mins and didn’t leave much redness or irritation on my skin afterwards. I will try the sensitive skin version of this product after I finish this one. I used to use the Veet brand hair lightening that came with two cream products to mix together but I cannot find it again to repurchase it.

It was way less messy than this Jolen powder/cream duo. I miss that Veet product but Jolen seems to be the only alternative product I can find locally. Jolen does a decent job but I prefer the other.

I have used creme oil lighteners in the past when I needed a gentle lift and ive never had problems with any so far. I decided to try this one in particular because it was also a tonal lightener and I knew the hair i was going to use it on likes to hold orange undertones.

I started my stopwatch and began in the back. When i finished the back, I checked my time and my starting point. 15 minutes had passed and i could see that the hair was already lifting quite well so i continued with my application.

When I had finished, the first sections were ready to be rinsed. I rinsed what needed rinsing with perfect results, but, noticed that the hair that still had the lightener looked much darker than I was expecting based on what I had just finished.

I left it on slighlty longer than the sections that were now complete, however at every check of the progress, the hair still looked exactly as it had before I applied so I rinses it out and the hair had not even lifted a full level.

I have never encountered a lightener that stops lifting at 15 minutes. Most ligteners do most of the lift in the first 30 minutes and then another level or two in the remaining time. This was mixed and applied immediatly and was on all of the hair within 20-30 minutes.

Maybe if you have a buzzcut and you’re able to slap this on your head in 5 minutes you’ll have ok results.

I was not fond of the L’Oreal Paris Super Blue Creme Oil Lightener at all. Being that I am a professional Hair Artist I may seem to have a little prejudiced against brands that aren’t “professional” brands, but that is not that case.

One of the major things it boasts about is “leaving hair shiny and silky” well, OFCOURSE IT DOES, ITS OIL BASED. Which, does nothing but mask the damage this particular lightening product does to the hair, which in turn makes the user think their hair is healthy and silky – leading them to believe it is okay to continue to use hars chemicals and extreme heat on their hair.

Once the oils are washed from the hair the user will see the actual damage done to the hair, thus attributing it to some other product and continue to damage their hair with this product. I feel that it is misleading and dangerous.

Bought this because I wanted to temporarily change the colour of my hair and I wanted a colour that wouldn’t be faded too quickly or wouldn’t pop enough. I didn’t have to worry because when I tell you you needed sunglasses to look at my hair because of how bright this was- it was no exaggeration.

okay, maybe a little bit, but it was really good. plus it didn’t leave my hair grey and ashy like when the colour started fading as some other semi-permanent hair colours do. It also. didn’t transfer to my clothes or pillow, or leave my hair hard.

These are other experiences I’ve had with other semi-permanent dyes.

I’ve bought this product twice now since it’s that good, it’s really easy to use, works instantly and loved the results. I recommend doing the very top layer of your head at the same time to make sure they have the same time to develop.

It has a bit of a smell but what do you expect with peroxide? I opened a window and it was perfectly fine. I used it where it was directly touching the scalp as I didn’t want to miss my roots and my scalp was perfectly fine.

I’ve only had highlights once a year so my hair is really healthy and after using the product, my hair was the tiniest bit dryer after blow drying straight after washing it out but after another wash with conditioner, my hair was perfectly normal.

I’ll definitely be buying this product again!.

The bleach kit was just what I needed to do my own hair during this lockdown. I have used it in the past and that’s why I bought it again. Simple to use effective and no nasty smell. Did the job perfectly.

The kit contains everything you need. But make shure how many packs you need, I bleached only tips of my hair, so 1 pack was enough for me. The result is great, my brown hair became light and yellow( not orange).

I used Unicorn Hair 20 volume color remover to rid myself of an appalling, splotchy dark pink (I won’t mention the brand; the label and the photos showed a peachy, pastel pink). My natural hair color is silver but it’s currently recovering from a botched bleach job, so only the roots coming in are healthy.

The Unicorn Hair removed all the horrible pink, lifting down to a very light platinum that was actually rather pretty. However, I did use a toner to restore my original silver. Two important things: Follow the instructions–in particular the timing.

Thirty minutes was exactly the right processing time. And you should always condition your hair after bleaching (which is what color removing is)–although 20 volume developer is far easier on hair than 30 or 40.

I bought the 40Vol. kit last week when I was in Wal-Mart. I absolutely love that I can buy Lime Crime locally and not have to deal with shipping. This is the “softest” bleach I have ever used. I have previously damaged hair due to heat and color.

I have used a lot of different products of the years and this is absolutely my new favorite. I mixed up a Bleach Wash/Bath to remove a stubborn purple/blue color and it took it right out and it did not cause any damage to my hair.

After rinsing the bleach out, my hair felt soft unlike other products that feel my hair feeling rough. This is a great product for people with already damaged hair. Definitely will be using this Bleach Kit again and again.
