20 Best Air Purifier For Mold And Dust Mites (2023 Updated)

My favorite new household item! My son suffers from terrible allergies. He has about 15 and most of those are related to mold dust and dander. We have a dog and we had no idea that the allergies were related to her so to have an air purifier that actually helps my son to not sneeze is so important.

It’s a quiet machine it filters the air and I’m always worried about it because we have a dog and fish and I cook a lot. We also leave the doors open and any of the other natural allergens are in our house at any given time because the windows are open.

Some seasons have been harder but this little machine has been really awesome. It was so easy that my 10-year-old set it up for me. It really took about 10 minutes or less to get it going and we use it as needed but it works.

I also like that there is an app. It makes it really easy to control and there is a way you can lock it on top so if you have a baby or a little one who likes to play with buttons it doesn’t even look like it’s on, the lights go dim and you can’t see that it’s on.

It’s actually really cool. I’m really impressed of the technology and absolutely love this air purifier. What a difference it makes!.

I bought a Levoit 400S and 2 smaller Winix units at Home Depot. The Levoit 400S is excellent and the controls and features are nice. I like the particulate counter and the easy to understand air quality ring indicators.

The unit is very quiet at low speeds but still moves a good amount of air. Also excels at removing cooking odors. The 2 Winix units I was not so pleased with. They were noisier and one was vibrating excessively; from a mechanical viewpoint that is a bad sign.

So I replaced both Winix with the Levoit 400S, now I have 3 and I am very pleased. Of course the local Home Depot having the 400S on sale for $99. 99 also helped. I researched the Levoit brand and was sold on all of the positive reviews and awards.

This all started with me viewing the Hunter HP450 on HSN; I feel like I got a much better product in the form of the Levoit 400S. I don’t mind the bigger size 400S for the bedrooms they are so good and quiet they are worth making room for.

But of corse if that is an issue Levoit has a smaller unit that I am sure is just as excellent.

I’ve had this air filter for over a year now and I have to say it’s been amazing. I didn’t realize how stale and stagnant the air was in my place before using this air purifier. The Coway AP-1512 HH pulls in “dirty” air from its face and pushed out “clean” purified air from the top! It is a bit of a chunky unit, but it is minimal in design and unobtrusive.

I do pop open the front face of the unit every couple of weeks to vacuum the “first” filter. This part of the air purifier catches all of the chunky/larger bits (human hair, dog hair, dust bunnies) before flowing through the other 2 filters.

the filter check/reset button 6. the air quality indicator light Most of these buttons are self-explanatory, this system is so very easy to use! With the speed adjuster button, you can alternate between 5 speed modes to run it on: Auto, 1, 2, 3, and Eco.

Auto changes the filtration speed rate (between levels 1,2,3) depending on the air quality in the room. Level 1 and 2 are pretty quiet, but level 3 sounds like a large fan has just turned on — which makes sense because it is pulling in pushing out a lot of air! To be honest, I’m not quite sure what Eco does because I always have it on Auto! With the filter check/reset button, the air filter will tell you when it is time to change your HEPA filter and/or your carbon filter.

The HEPA filter only needs to be changed once a year, while the carbon filter is recommended to be changed every 6 months. The filters are also very easy to replace. The air quality indicator light has 3 light colors: blue, purple, and red.

Blue meaning good while a red light means bad air quality. There is a small air quality sensor located on the right side of the air filter. I’ve blown air from my mouth into the sensor it automatically changes the air quality indicator from blue to red.

Good to know that my mouth is full of germs 🦠 (as if 2020 didn’t remind us of that ALLL the time). If I could have something to nitpick about this unit, I wish there was an option to dim the indicator light.

It is very bright and distracting during the nighttime and makes it hard to sleep. There was an easy solution for my only complaint — I just stack a small book on top before I go to bed every night. Bonus points for this air purifier looking like a giant iPod touch!!.

I had a previous model and talked my allergy-suffering mother into buying this model. I then bought this model too because I was impressed with it. I’ve had this air purifier for a couple years now and am very happy with it.

I’ve compared it to some other name brands and have found the air flow to noise ratio is superior to every other similarly priced air purifiers. I currently have a different brand in my living room, and this one in my bedroom since it still moves a fair amount of air on the lowest setting (which is silent).

My only gripe is with the cost of the replacement air filters. They say it lasts a year, but unless you already have central air with HEPA filters, this has not been my experience with either Coway air purifiers I’ve owned.

They should really offer heavy discounts and bulk packs on the filters. I would be fine buying in bulk to save money, but I haven’t seen this option. While I am happy with the air purifier, I wish the carbon filter used the pellet method instead of the coated foam method.

The pellet method has been shown to be significantly more effective at removing VOCs and lasts much longer than the foam coated carbon filter. Their new models have this, so depending on the cost of filters, I will likely purchase one of those and pass my other brand onto a friend of family.

I want to provide my honest feedback. I had a cheap air filter before and it was loud and didn’t seem to make a big difference in our air quality. It was expensive to replace the filters and it wasn’t a true hepa filter.

From taking this unit out of the box, I noticed it was sleek and stylish. It has different levels ex. high, medium, and low, and the highest level is still quieter than my old one. I already feel like it cleans the air better.

I already have a Levoit humidifier that we use daily (and which I would also recommend) so I was excited to have the opportunity to try this Levoit air purifier. I’m incredibly impressed by this little machine.

I struggle with seasonal allergies and moderate asthma so I’m no stranger to air purifiers. This is definitely one of the best air purifies that I’ve tried! It’s easy to use, VERY easy to clean, and INCREDIBLY quiet, making it perfect to have going in your bedroom, living room, or any area where you don’t want to hear loud WHOOOOOSHSHHHHHHH sounds 24/7.

We’ve had this product for almost 2 weeks now and I can tell it’s making a big difference in the air quality in our bedroom. I feel less stuffed up and wheezy, which is a blessing given that we’re in the early stages of spring (aka prime allergy season).

My only note is that you need to read the directions thoroughly and remember to take off the plastic around the filter before using this!! The unit shines in its simplicity, the controls are straight forward and the it is easy to take apart for maintenance. Where it runs into issues is the noise. The lowest setting is very quite. If you walked into the room you might not know it was on.

But if you use the next two settings you don’t need to be in the room to know it’s running. The middle setting is loud and the highest setting is even louder. The difference between middle and high isn’t large and it doesn’t feel like a middle setting.

On high the unit is loud and is not realistic for use in social setting, and only the lowest setting is good for sleeping unless you’re a heavy sleeper.

We purchased this purifier for our master bedroom, bath and closet to reduce allergy symptoms. Nice sized unit that moves a lot of air. We typically run it on medium during the day and low at night. Medium moves plenty of air however fan sound is more than expected.

Low setting is whisper quiet. Definitely cleaned up the air. We do not see dust particles when the sun shines in the window which we noticed before. We also seem to be sneezing less. Overall satisfied with the purchase.

Big unit in size and performance. I’ve owned a few different air purifiers but this is the best unit if you have pets that shed a lot or larger particles in the air. It has a really nice blower fan on it and can move air quite well.

The UV light is a little weaker light then one I had before but still works just fine. The big filter catches a lot of dog fur at my house so we vacuum the outside of the filter periodically with a light hand held vacuum just so it’s not building to the point we would have to replace the filter.

We have had Honeywell HPA300 for 2 months and run it continuously on highest setting the entire time. The noise level is not bothersome and helps create white noise for sleep and privacy with folks working from home.

We feel it helps with allergies to our dog and with drawing out dust and other particles in the air. Our dog actually likes to sit near it. Easy set up. Can get a higher grade prefilter too. Quickly removes particles from cooking when near kitchen.

This HPA 300 works like advertised!!! I was waking every morning with red eyes and since day one of running the HPA 300, I wake now more than 30 consecutive days with very refreshed eyes. I also notice I sleep better than prior to the HPA 300.

My son has one in his bedroom as he is allergic to dust mites and was waking with phlegm in his throat. Now he also has a success story, of more than 30 consecutive days with no phlegm and sleeping better! I also have one in my office and the air feels fresher than before! I purchased my first MoLEKULE Air when living in Florida in the hope that it would prevent the sometimes very severe Red Tide blooms from encroaching in my home. I am extremely allergic to the airborne spores and I was living in a Gulf-front condo.

I ended up purchasing three of them in short order. They made a noticeable difference in the air in my home. Mold, also a problem in that hot damp environment, no longer appeared out of nowhere. My furnace filters had to be changed about half as often and still looked relatively clean.

When I purchased small condo in Raleigh, the first things I ordered for it wear a MoLEKULE Air and two Air Mini+ units. I have had to call MoLEKULE occasionally for technical support, especially for the first devices which were fairly new and less automated to get them started up and running, especially connecting to my network.

But only in the living room where the Molekule Air is located. I was naturally nervous about the capabilities of the device, but all of my fears were assuaged when it arrived and the very simple unboxing, plus the intuitive connection to the WiFi, my roommate got home and excitedly had a cigarette.

I borrowed my friend’s Air Molekule as I wanted to test it before dropping 800$ On an air purifier. I have a 10 month old son who suffers from Allergens. I ran the Air Molekule near the kitchen after cooking and the ran it the entire – no difference to be honest.

It took some of the smell out but the room remained smoky. We have large rooms with 600 sq ft. It smelled smoky and my baby was coughing and sneezing. I then did an extensive research over 2 months and bought the Conway Air Mega 200M and Cowan Air Mega 1512HH for 209$ each from the Coway website.

It is truly EXCELLENT. far far superior than the Molekule air. You are really paying 800$ for the look or if you want to show off – but it is performance capacity is diametrically opposite to its price range – for 800$ the Molekuke Air should outperform its competitors and be at a far superior level but it is really quite the opposite.

It does nothing to really clean the air. So it was truly disappointing to read the tall claims Molekuke Air makes. In stark contrast is the Coway Airmegas that immediately started to clean the kitchen fumes.

My baby slept through the night. In just one day no sneezing, no coughing. The lowest setting was powerful and ran almost silently. I could tell the air quality was clean and people who walked in could tell the level of air quality was superior.

This is an honest review from a full time working mom who has a 10 month old baby with a husband who also suffers from pollen allergy. No more sneezing in the house, no more coughing. I am really happy I took the time to research, read real reviews and not be pressured to buy Molekuke Air because Google algorithm sadly puts this product first when you type Air Purifiers.

Please don’t fall for these Google ratings which are in my opinion are mostly always untrustworthy. Research, educate yourself and read reviews particularly by those who have used air purifiers during wild fires.

The Coway air purifier was used by many California residents during the wild fires/ so much so that they were sold out for months and impossible to find filters.

This is the only machine that helped with the mycotoxins from mold. It does seem to create an air stream if it’s too close to the source on high. It doesn’t seem to pull air around corners for the whole floor, and works per room.

It be great if they had a whole house package or something. Customer service works. One time the unit arrived damaged, and they exchanged it as promised. The filter replacement program works, but it is getting more and more expensive.

The filters would last longer if they didn’t start a drag from a source. Thankfully, our source has been eliminated …. This company was one of my angels. My IBS tore a portion of my rectum up, there were days I used the machine like an oxygen tank just to get it to simmer down.

The Air Purifier Store, 5-Stars, Austin Air Healthmate Plus, 4-Stars. I received excellent and courteous service from The Air Purifier Store. Somewhat disappointing however in the Austin Air Healthmate Plus.

These filters are shipped directly from the factory. At time I placed my order they ONLY ship using FedEx. In my case, this resulted in filters arriving in less than ideal condition. In one shipment, it appeared as though the unit was dropped so hard the fan motor broke loose inside.

(The Air Purifier Store, quickly sent a replacement. ) In another shipment, the cabinet was dented, the unit did function. Each unit had loose screws in the bottom panel. In some cases, the screws came out completely falling to box bottom.

They used sheet metal screws to hold on the base. Sheet metal screws are a poor choice for something that has to be removed for each filter change. Instead, they should use threaded inserts in the sheet metal with machine screws.

These are more robust and harder for the consumer to damage. I think the Austin Air Healthmate Plus is a good filter. I appreciate the fact that it has no power indicator light, good for bedrooms. The unit runs quiet on the low speed setting.

If they would change the bottom screws to machine screws and find a shipping company that will treat their shipments better I would rate this product 5-stars. The problems I encountered were not due to a poor packaging job.

The shipping boxes are well designed. I would buy this product again.

Many years ago I began to experience unusual symptoms for me, I was a very healthy person. My doctor suggested I had a serious problem and he was correct and sent me to a doctor who was suffering herself from EI.

My doctor was Dr. Surowitz he moved to FL. but another doctor remains But he sent me to Dr. Davey and she knew I was is suffering from my environment. She sent me to another Dr. who tested for chemical tolerances.

Formaldehyde was the worst and still is. They have made much more advances in admitting these deadly chemicals with agent orange and other spays. Perfume and off gassing are some other things that are or can be dangerous.

These filters are not made of plastic so that is number on my list. Dr Davey would not allow any perfume and other chemicals on you if you came to her which was a good thing, she live 90 year. Insurance wouldn’t cover and I am not certain is does now.

Let me tell you about my allergies. From the first thaw of spring until the last, gasping breaths of fall, I have allergies. Sometimes I’m up for an hour or two at night because of allergies and the rest of the day my nose is a bulbous gnome dripping into thirty tissues.

Also, I’m grumpy. 19th century medicine, as described in The Butchering Art, maintained that horrifying diseases were caused by miasmas, a. k. a. bad air. Well, we now know that things like gangrene are not transmitted through the air, but allergens sure are.

Last fall, my partner suggested that we buy the Winix Air Purifier; I would run it for about two hours before bed (low setting, very quiet) and, magically, I slept through the night every day of the week.

I was reluctant to purchase any air purifier because of the sound and effectiveness of so many units on the market. However, after much research, we decided to go with the Winix 6300-2 Air purifier. It’s very easy to set up and very quiet on all but the turbo settings.

This unit came with a remote but all it can do is turn the unit on/off and adjust the fan speeds. I am impressed with the sensitivity it has in detecting impurities in the air. The sensor light changes from blue (normal clean air) to yellow (needs to clean) and red (bad air).

I would clean the air in a normal sized bedroom in about 20 minutes set on automatic utilizing a true HEPA filter and a carbon coated pre filter. I would certainly buy this unit again and have recommended it for the vaccine room in the pharmacy where I work.

We ordered this when the smoke started getting bad in PDX and it was making me really sick. We should have ordered it earlier because it didn’t get here until the smoke was pretty much gone, but that’s our fault.

I also have allergies, we have cats, and we live by a freeway, so we’d been meaning to get one anyway. It has made such a huge difference. It almost instantly made the air feel fresher, like we had a cool breeze going through the house.

I haven’t noticed any increased allergy symptoms on days when the pollen counts are really high. We can’t smell the litter box anymore. No smell at all, as if the litterbox has disappeared. My base level of congestion has improved.

We’ve only had it a few weeks now, so I can’t attest to how long the filters last yet. l will try to remember to do an update. It was super easy to put together (just have to take the filters out of the packaging, put them in the machine according to the diagram, and put the cover on) and even easier to use.

It plays a cute little jingle when you plug it in and turn it off and on. The auto setting has been great. It adjusts the strength based on the air quality and has a horizontal light that lets you know whether the air is bad, ok, or good.

Auto mode also automatically switches to a lower power night mode without the big light at around 8 or 9pm. It’s very quiet, even on high power. It’s practically silent on low power and high power is easily covered up by the tv or music (basically any other ongoing sound) without having to turn the volume up.

And even without that, it’s not an annoying or disruptive sound, it’s just audible if you listen for it. We are probably going to get a second one so our whole house is covered, instead of moving it between rooms occasionally (which is super easy to do, just turn off, unplug, carry by the convenient handle built into the top, plug back in and turn on).

It is a bit on the large size (think shorter kitchen trash bin, and also just check out the measurements and look at a measuring tape if you don’t know how big that is), but it hasn’t been an issue, even in our small home.

It has a nice design and is pleasant to look at but also fades into the background. TLDR: Absolutely love it, great for smoke/pollution, allergies, and odors. Highly recommend.
