20 Best 110 Volt Tankless Water Heater For Shower (2023 Updated)

I installed this unit in my guest bathroom where getting hot water was an interminable wait, which wasted water as well. It was relatively easy to install and hook up, though working under the sink is a pain! I had to have an electrician run an outlet circuit first.

The rest of my house is on a tankless heater, so this just runs downstream. Simple solution to an age old problem.

This is a very reliable brand that makes electric water heaters. This model is an excellent choice for point-of-use (sink), to avoid waiting for the hot water to come out while wasting water. Very easy to install under sink.

Instantaneous water on demand!.

The tech in my coffee pot and carpet steamer is more advanced with less material. This is for slow luke warm hand washing with lots of soap. Would take over 3 min for a gallon of water. Your not going to brew tea or wash dishes with this.

If you absolutely have to have instant warm water at just above a trickle, this is for you , patience required.

I put this device in an apartment and am excited by how great it works. I subtract one star because the device is activated by a flow rate no lower than 1. 6 GPM and many faucets don’t flow that fast.

Have it within 10 feet of shower and sink; just turn the shower on just enough to activate the shower head. whether you get 30 seconds of heat, then cold, or even temp throughout shower is a crap shoot.

Constantly adjusting it to try and get a stable heat flow; very hard to do.

Easy to install. Produces more really hot water than I need. I’m in South Florida, so I don’t even turn it up to maximum heating. Adjustable to be able to work with 10, 20, 30, or 40 amp breakers, depending on the temperature needed.

20 or 30 amps is sufficient.

Only worked for a few weeks then the water occasionally comes out lukewarm after waiting 5 minutes. Fast forward 3 months it doesn’t ever work anymore. Wait 5-8 minutes just to get lukewarm water. Now its summer time and the water coming out of the pipes without using this unit is actually hottest since I’ve installed this unit.

I love the idea of it. Functionally and practically it works fine. it just took us a lot longer to set it up. the nozzle conversion didn’t fit and we went through 3 different sizes/threads, even with a plumber’s help.

It takes a little getting used to. less pressure. Be patient, it takes 7 – 10 seconds to heat up. (but that’s waaaay less than what we had, while wasting all that water in the line).

This 14kW, 240Volt point of use heater is a quality unit. I would rate equally with more established brands in the water heating appliance industry. I am impressed with the build quality. I would expect it to run for many years without much maintenance and even with daily use.

This may or may not be a DIY project depending on your plumbing and electrical skills. As a lifelong 2nd generation home builder & remodeler I would rate it as an intermediate to advanced level to install.

It does require a dedicated double pole 240 Volt breaker and 6 gauge wire to be run. You will also want to run some HTTN as a grounding wire to the case for safety. This will require you to get inside your electrical load center (breaker box) to perform connections.

If you are not familiar or experienced with this kind of work I would highly recommend a licensed electrician perform this. The 6 gauge wire is thick and requires some effort to bend and pull thru crawlspaces, attics or basements and in walls.

The plumbing side of it is probably a little easier for most. The 1/2″ NPT connections are pretty straight forward. You will need to tap into an existing plumbing system or run a new cold water line to this unit as well as the plumbing fixture.

And then the hot out of this unit to the plumbing fixture. You may or may not need a professional plumber on this, but the tools for running PEX, copper or other may or may not be easily available to you.

I guess it all depends on your exact situation. I wouldn’t describe this as a quick and easy project that will only take an hour or 2. Unless this tankless heater is really close to your electrical panel and water is conveniently available too, and the fixture your supplying the hot water too is easy to access, then I would expect a good part of a day to install, even for professionals.

There will be lots of parts, pieces, fitting and such that will be needed to complete the install. Planning will take at least 30 mins too. You will need to come up with a materials list, make measurements for the length of pipe and wire you will need, and double check all that before going out to purchase said materials.

You will likely spend at least 2 hours on the electrical and another 2 hours on the plumbing. You will need to connect it up to your plumbing fixture unless you are tapping into an existing hot water line.

Then you will likely still need to shut off the water to your house, drain down the lines and then cut and make the T connection and/or cap off a line. For a DIY first time, I would personally allocate a weekend to get it done.

Of course it all depends on the situation and factors such as distance, accessibility, availability of 2 empty spaces in your breaker box (load center) and such. Again, this appliance really is an intermediate to advanced level of skill and knowledge to install.

After having stressed all that I digress back to the Airtheral product itself. It is nice unit. Depending on your source water temperature this should be able to handle a faucet and shower for most people during the summer months.

During the winter and if in a colder climate then the flow rate will need to be decreased to allow the unit to overcome the greater temperature differential between the incoming water and the set output temperature.

This 14Kw unit can likely handle a bathroom or kitchen faucet pretty much anywhere in the USA. In the South it will likely also handle a shower as well. You can go over there charts in the stock photos to see what your location is rated to handle.

Overall this one gets 5 stars from me. I have been using some Airthereal Ozone generators for years and I really like the company and it products.

This brand is not very forthcoming with the output on this model. It should be obvious that at this price point, this is not going to be a whole house hot water heater. But even after reviewing the product detail page AND the literature that came with it, I still had to do my own calculations to figure out what it will and won’t do.

First off, most electric tankless hot water heaters will provide up front with two important numbers – how many degrees rise, at what flow rate (gallons per minute, or GMP). You will need to know your starting water temperature.

We are in the midwest, and our water is 52 degrees. So we need a 58 degree increase at an absolute minimum of 2 gallons per minute (GMP) to operate basic things like the dishwasher and shower. Keep in mind, this is the absolute minimum for a 1 bathroom house – you would need a much larger hot water heater if someone is washing their hands at the same time someone else is taking a shower.

For comparison, the smallest unit at the local hardware store is sold as a point of use hot water heater (sink, dishwasher, etc). It is 12kW and 54 amps, providing a 53 degree rise @ 1. 85 GPM. So that would be insufficient to operate a shower.

This unit by Airthereal is about 25% smaller than my example. It is only we have 9kW and 40 amps. This *might* work as a whole house hot water heater for a small home in a very warm climate. But for most applications, this is going to be a single appliance water heater, and will not replace your household water heater.

Otherwise the unit seems fine, it’s well built, sleek looking, and all the necessary components were included. Please be careful when dealing with 240 volt installation, most people should have an electrician or experienced handyman install something like this.

It’s also worth mentioning that I’ve never heard of this brand before. I believe they are new as of 2018, and I don’t know anything about their warranty, support, or replacement parts. It’s always worth comparing something like this to a name brand, consider the long term costs, the longevity of the unit, and make sure you’re really saving money by going with a lesser known brand.

However, after installation, I contacted the seller to resolve a fundamental hot/cold water issue, and found the representatives of Sain Store to be truly an example of excellence in customer service.

The company reps (whom I contacted via phone and email) went far above and beyond my expectations to assist with resolving my issue and identifying the root cause. Ultimately, the problems experienced proved to be resultant of installer error, not an error with their product.

I wholeheartedly recommend Airthereal Water heaters for their product quality & the manufacturer’s post-sale customer service. /p.

This is a great point of use water heater. We use it under our kitchen sink which is the worst one in the house when it comes to getting hot water. I connected it to the hot water line. The only downside is that you absolutely have to replace the anode on a regular basis (6 months to a year).

It is inside the water heater and requires disconnecting wires and some disassembly. If you do not replace it, the water heater will corrode and leak. Otherwise it is fantastic.

Heater came in undamaged shipping box and with plastic caps on the water fittings. Could not thread the brass ell on the cold inlet. Found the threads were damaged multiple places. Was able to file the threads and then force a black iron cap on then install the brass fitting.

Very poor quality control from a name brand unit. This time I thought I would purchase a name brand unit to avoid problems – big mistake.

Plan to maintain this! Warranty is void if you don’t replace the anode every year! We’ve had ours in place for 2 years now and recently had a rotten egg smell. Discovered that these run through the anode relatively quickly.

You can’t install and expect to ignore it for years.

We replaced our tank heater with plumbing from 1958. It took a little creativity and assistance from our local hardware plumber staff, in less than 24 hrs, our tankless heater was working. Our electric was already wired to the needs of the heater.

The heating unit is quiet, provides consistent heat. We love it!.

This particular heater is far better that the one it replaced. I really like the ease of adjustment with it. Only draw back was both fittings were loose and water spewed everywhere at first. Took cove off, tightened water lines and it works great.

I have a lot more room in my basement and all of the hot water I need! Takes about 30 seconds to reach temperature, but stays hot for as long as the water is running. Very important with a teenage daughter in the shower!!!.

NOT A PAID REVIEW. For sure. This review is after 3 years of use on the Eco27 So, my small house 1100 sq ft in Tampa, Carrollwood. The hot water start coming out after 15 sec of opening in the closest bathroom and on the further bathroom, my master bath 45 sec later.

Also, I have mild hard water, no softener at this moment, so you have to do a cleaning/ flush, every year. BUT, the worst part happened in this 3rd year, when the PLASTIC part of the flow sensor melted inside and the plastic came down to the metal membrane filter of it and blocked my water, and the pipes literally exploded and leaked everywhere.

WHO IN THE WOLRD, MAKES A PLASTIC PART for something inside of HOTWATER, that boils at 120 degrees? Only an idiot. I guess aluminum was not an option? Now, is it cheap to replace this sensor made of plastic? Yes, $20.

But the leaking and re-piping cost a lot. Thank you A. h. les. By the way, remember to register it online with proof of a licensed Plumber & Electrician, If you dont, then no warranty. I hope you make the right decision after reading this.

I am very disappointed. I have been recommending Ecosmart for all my clients for 10 years but I will not any longer. In the past they were very good at replacing units on their lifetime warranty but unfortunately no longer.

They have become just like everyone else. The try to find any excuse to not cover the unit. After 3 days of calling and getting nowhere I asked to speak with a manager and was told one would return the call within 2 hours.

I am still waiting. I am in South Fl. And we have the Titan units that are local. They only have a 1 year warranty but after that you walk in to the local Factory with a damaged unit and they will exchange for $100.

A lot better than having to buy a new Ecosmart for $250+ because they will not honor their “lifetime” warranty.

I did extensive research about tankless water heaters and EcoSmart had the best reviews and a lifetime warranty so I had the EcoSmart 27 installed last month. A few places had it for a couple dollars less yet they all charge shipping fees that make Walmart’s price unbeatable! We feel more relaxed to know the big tank of hot water is no longer in the house yet it is only a month that we have the EcoSmart installed so it’s too soon to know all the benefits and any downfalls.

So far it’s everything we expected and we’re very pleased with the choice. It took a professional a few hours to install the unit with mo problem what so ever. There’s a large dial that makes it very easy to adjust the water temperature, hot water reaches the faucets in about half the time it used to take and we have yet to run out.

The unit looks just as it does in this picture and is the size described so it’s small enough to fit in a closet yet the design is attractive so it looks fine on a wall that is visible. The EcoSmart was only in use two weeks when the electric meter was read so it is too soon to calculate any savings it might have on the electric bill.

The bill was lower than it was the same time last year and this year we had the central air conditioner running constantly so there is no major increase. The lifetime warranty requires the unit be installed by a professional and it uses three 30 amp double breakers to run.

( It is NOT recommended yet many reviews were written by people who chose to void the warranty and install the EcoSmart themselves because it’s easy to install and parts are inexpensive and also easy to install.

) If your electric service has enough available breakers then the installation costs would be about the same as a tanked water heater. If your electric service needs to be upgraded then it will be a more costly investment yet you will not have replacement expenses that most water heater tanks have every few years.

Water heater tanks never lasted us long enough to be out of warranty and though the cost of the heater was prorated, the cost of installation steadily increased. The main reason we opted to switch to the EcoSmart tankless water heater was the extensive and expensive water damage caused by leaky water heaters tanks.

The EcoSmart tankless water heater is on the wall in clear view so if there is ever a leak it should be easily seen and heard before it can cause any real damage. The water shut off is right under the unit.

We are looking forward to many years of hot water when we need it, lower electric bills because we no longer heat water we don’t need and no more costly repairs of water damage caused by a leaky or burst water heater tank.

Works great. Replaced an older unit, this on with th digital temp setting great. I am on a well, so i have to buffer the output thru a 1 gal plug 110 water heater just to cushion the varying water pressure.

I replaced the 60 gal tank yrs ago. Found when the power was off the water heater for a couple of days, the water in the tank was luke warm. SOOO this is just like dumping the water tank every 2 days.

Demand heater eliminates this loss.

It works as it should, I think I would go bigger in the future considering our groundwater is 45 degrees. Just a little slow but worth the price.

You cannot add cold water to the hot water in the newest system. If you try to add cold water to adjust temp it will beep loudly and give you the E3 error code. Manufacturer says temperature must be set in advance and only hot water used.

This is not a good system as everyone does not want the same temp shower and shower temp is not hot enough for dishes. Yes you can change the temperature at the control before someone gets in the shower but if you forget to change it back the next person may be too hot when they are already in the shower and they cannot add any cold water.

Lousy system. Also you have to let the water run for it to get warm and that is filling up the holding tank.

You’ve probably seen videos of an installation being quick and easy so I want to describe my experience-After removing the old 6 gallon tank type water heater the hole was quite a bit larger than the new unit required.

No surprises here and filling in the gaps with wood was relatively easy. Then came the depth issue- the old one was recessed into the side of our motor home about 1/2″ for a flush fit so I made an adaptor/spacer ring out of 1/2″ plywood.

Next I found that the factory door kit was a bit too small to cover this newly filled area. I made a trim ring out of white “Formica” type laminate and attached it to the skin of the motor home with clear silicone caulk.

Compared to making and installing these parts the gas, water, and electrical connections were a breeze. Bottom line here is that you might be taking on more of a project than expected so plan accordingly.

If they become available factory trim rings and oversize doors would save a lot of work. (hint to manufacturer)After using the unit for several months I have a few observations- It will put out a lot of hot water and works best with a constant high rate of flow.

This could be a drawback if you are depending on a limited water supply. While running water at low flow the heater either doesn’t kick on or it will cycle hot to cold. During these cycles the water heater sometimes gave off a propane oder so I tried it with the cover open.

This eliminated the smell so I cut some additional venting slots in the metal door. Oder gone. (another hint to manufacturer)Also be sure your partner is able to change propane tanks. They inevitably run out in the middle of your shower.

Overall we are pleased to have unlimited warm water and it is a huge improvement over the old 6 gallon tank type unit.

WARNING! DO NOT BUY GIRARD. Have yet to actually use mines even once. Company blamed me! In addition, NOONE, ANYWHERE has the water flow sensor in stock!!! Everytime time i call back to these different distributors i get the samecresponse of we’ll PROBABLY have them in next week.

Its been at least a month now!! Other in stock part, the water line, has been paid for but never shipped!!! Thank God im not on the road!! Heed my warning!.

In retirement I labored as a handy man in a mobile home park. The recession hit the widows in the park. One discovery was a reliable, tankless, inexpensive hot water heater Ecosmart 11. Over a half dozen years I installed about 10 of them replacing failed tank type water heaters.

They are money savers from installation to every day use. Never had to repair one, never got a defective one, never had a complaint. They save a lot of space in cramped quarters too! All my installations were in summer cottages or Florida homes.

Larger models are required where very cold water is entering the systems in the winter. Do your homework!.

Designed to fail. this thing worked great for the first few years. Then one day an element went bad. No big deal, didn’t last nearly as long as your average element, but no big deal, except that they don’t sell the parts for this anywhere except their website so you have to wait a week or so before you can take a shower.

I put the new elements in, and it worked great, for about a week. Then the button/knob failed somehow and the display went crazy. The knob is integrated, so I replaced the whole control board. Worked great, for a week.

Now the flow sensor is bad and I have to wait until they decide to ship the new one. Don’t waste your money!.

Once you set the water temp. it is constant!! I also recommend a 2 year warranty. I have no experience on how long they will last, but my feeling is, the should last for years without trouble! I set it up for the whole house, but its best not to use more than one fixture at a time.

I think for large households, more than one could be installed.

As for the breaker tripping in other homes, as a licensed electrician of 26 years, I would advise you to take an amperage reading during operation. Most home owners do not have multi meters with an amp clamp so that could be difficult I understand.

If the heater is not drawing over 55 amp during operation you may have a defective circuit breaker, it happens. Try replacing your breaker. If the heater is drawing over 55 amps ther is a problem with the heater.

I appreciated Mike Vaughn’s comment and experiencing the same problem. The breaker trips half way through my shower and I am unable to fill my tub since the water starts going cold prior to the breaker tripping, consistently! Please provide the solution.

It resides on a 60 AMP breaker. Very disappointed so please provide resolution! At this point, I would not recommend this product to anyone!.

We installed 2 of these units in our new home one goes to each bathroom. One of these units had a hole that was in the brass and started to leak. We replaced it with a new one not warranty and around 3months later the other one stopped working with E1 trouble reset the unit many times and it doesn’t seem to won’t to work.

I don’t want another one.

I purchased one to try out in our men’s restroom and ordered another one for the women’s restroom the next day. There is a slight 1-2 second delay of cold water before getting warm, but the water is nice and hot once it starts.

Not lukewarm like the previous model was. It was easy to install too. That was a bonus.

Much better quality than the Atmor under counter heaters. These have metal ports unlike the cheap plastic ones from Atmor that risk your home to flooding. As long as you know what your getting in terms of temperature rise for the wattage, flow rate, and inlet water temperature, this works fine and seems to be industrial quality.

The water heater was not up to my expectations. The water gets only lukewarm and you have to run the water extremely slow to get any heat out of it. Very disappointed.

I have been using this product for almost two weeks now and I’m truly satisfy with it. The ability to take warm/hot showers hen I wish to feels priceless to me. The reason I’m ranking it 4 stars is because even thou this product is delivering for me the product truly won’t work for you if you live in a cold region.

I happend to live in PR where water fluctuates between cool and warm throughout the entire year. So, by my region standards 120V is enough to be to take hot showers There is a huge catch with this product thou.

The temperature of the water will depend on how your showers’ water pressure. So if you truly want to take a hot shower with this product you will have to regulate the water coming out if the spigot with the shower valve.

So water pressure may be different for you depending how good your water pressure is.

I installed the CM-40L on a dual lavatory. Both faucets are low flow 0. 35 single handle. Water is hot within seconds (time to flow through pipe). Imagine hot water to wash up without the wait. Initially the hot water pressure was kinda low, especially with both faucets full hot.

But then i removed a flow restrictor from the nipple on the heater’s outlet. That fixed it. Now good pressure and temperature even with both faucets on.

Bought one of these online and installed it. We live in Northern New York and the unit couldn’t provide enough hot water for one short shower without going cold, even during warm weather. It will eventually warm up again but only after you have been standing in a cold shower for a few minutes.

The issues is the temperature of the incoming water, which remains constant year round. And it is an ENERGY HOG! Using 75 amps, it dims the lights when it comes on. Only if you live in the warmest of climates, have a 200 amp entrance and have plenty of cash for electric bills should you buy this.

Gas tankless units are the way to go.

As an hvac technician I found the unit very easy to install, a homeowner who is familiar with running electrical circuits from their electrical panel would be able to make this a DIY project. I installed the 18kw model in a condo with one bathroom in Philadelphia, it works well for the homeowner.

Only advice, all tankless units whether gas or electric supply hot water differently than tank models. There is a wait for the hot water to arrive at the faucet. The cause is due to the unit needing to start up, from a dead cold start, the water will flow warm and then hot as the water heater ramps up.

Tank water heaters hold the highest temperature water 365 days a year. I bought this unit because there were so few bad reviews, online for Eco Smart, other name brand electric tankless had many bad reviews.

I want to start off by saying this is now my second Eco 18kw water heater and they’ve both underperformed. It is advertised at 2. 9 GPM and I will recieve 1. 5 GPM before the unit shuts itself off @110°F.

I called and the lady i spoke with was very rude but I can get passed that. I called a bit later after running a few tests for them, halfway through explaining to the new tech support agent, they hung up on me.

So i decided to call again because i want answers on why my unit isn’t preforming as it should. Anyhow, they forwarded my call to voicemail and refuse to talk to me. I was never rude or condescending to the representative.

A horrible company that can’t back their products is not what i want nor need. I’m returning this one and going with another, more reputable manufacturer.

We have a tankless water heater that we bought to replace our two 50 gallon water heaters that kept 100 gallons of water hot every minute of every day, etc. They finally died after 14 years of use. We could not get hot water from them to our kitchen sink/dishwasher in less than 15 minutes.

Yes, what a waster of water and money. We replaced them with a tankless system that is very efficient but we still had to wait for hot water to the kitchen. I finally had this eemax heater installed under my kitchen sink and now have instant hot water! No more waiting and smaller water bills! Very nice unit and low price for a quality heater.

We’ve installed various Eemax EMT water heaters for in-suite ADA restrooms and the occasional small office break room. Installation is straight forward and we have never had a call-back. Thus far they outlast the small insta-hot tankless water heaters.

I would definitely consider using these water heaters for far-flung sink/lavatories in a residential setting. more cost-effective than hot water recirculate loop (which requires pipe insulation).

Had one of these installed by local plumber and it worked fine for about 2 years. When I called for getting a new one the plumber wanted $600 to install a new one and also said they last 2 or 3 years.

I went online and bought this one for a little over $200 and we installed. Time will tell how long it lasts.

We recently installed the EEMAX 18KW Home Advantage water heater replacing a smaller EEMAX water heater which has been in service for about three years. The smaller unit supplied between 1/2 and 1 GPM to a small shower.

The entering water temperature during winter months limited the flow rate. The new 18KW Home Advantage supplies hot water to a 1. 5 GPM shower at full volume. The only disadvantage to this and similar units is the physical construction of the heating elements.

The elements are two inverted U’s connected together at the bottom. Consequently, the unit will not drain by gravity alone. If the facility receives seasonal use and is not heated year round, additional means must be provided in order to drain the unit.

My wife wanted a tankless hot water heater. I was leery about one but I agreed to get one and install it. And was I ever glad I did. This unit if Great. For the wiring all I had to do was run another line and put in two 40 amp breakers and put it on the wall.

For peace of mind I also installed a home in line 5 micron water filter, even tho we have a water softening system, in case any lime makes it through the soft water system. If you don’t know much about electricity I would recommend you get a professional to wire it.

I was lucky in that my neighbor is an electrician. It is so wonderful to take a long hot shower, or a nice hot bath and not run out of hot water. I highly recommend that if you don’t have one, to get one, especially if your old hot water heater is acting up.

You won’t regret you did.

We have not had any issues with this item. We only gave four stars because we’d love if they would include the t&p valves with this heater. Also, it does require electrical modifications in order to support it (we understand why).

Outside of that, we can’t complain and we have had no negative feedback from our end customers.

The US9 I installed in a trailer house. The use model is running all hot water faucets in the home – kitchen, bath, sink. There appears to be a flow switch which cuts off the power automatically, which works fine when you throttle back the hot water flow either by turning down the hot or adding cold.

The big issue is the trip point of the snap-switch for the safety overheat protection. The unit has a resettable snap-switch under the cover. Unscrew/remove the cover, hit the button, works again. I would recommend an installation location where this would be easy access as you will rue the day you put it somewhere that you can’t get to it without a screw gun.

Major design flaw here. The unit would likely work under a sink but you’ll still have to take the cover off to reset the snap switch. I left the cover off because it happens often. I plan to keep this unit, move it under the kitchen sink and get a larger flow unit for the shower/bathroom sink.

BTW, the internal plumbing necks the water flow down to about 1/4″ before it hits the element so 2. 5gpm is a VERY liberal spec. Full throttle hot is warm-ish. You don’t dare turn down the hot flow to increase the temp ( which is how it works) in fear of a cold shower until the snap-switch is reset.

The other sinks is full throttle or off, no in-between.

This unit is perfect for a single bathroom. I have added a 25′ x 25′ addition at the opposite end of the house from my central water heater. Instead of running hot and cold water lines, I ran a single cold water line.

Then I split that line to feed the hot water heater and cold water. It is almost instant hot water 55 feet away from my central hot water source. The price was the best I could find and delivery was speedy.

This unit has been the best deciding factor on what is needed for any one any house any where , i have tried not all but i have been openminded on the out come of each time the water is cold and is not easy to get a grip on half ass warm water if lucky but not but a blink of a eye burrrrr cold showers suck big time.

now i put this little unit under the kitchen sink and it has lasted for 4 whole house heaters that require 3 220 40 amp single pull breakers and not any better then a old tank water heater is so now i have removed the big ugly electrice eating unit and now have a BOSH tankless water heaters for the bathroom only shower sink and big tub with jets now since i have bought anther one for the wash room down stairs to keep it isolated from each other and best of all one 40 amp.

breaker for each unit electric bill now down a lot and no loss of hot hater when showering is going on both showers and the dishwasher all can run at the same time not sharing hot water at all so i just saying what i have been through for three years finding out what is and is not good for saving money now the A9.

5 is really good but the newest model out is the Tronic 3000 pro just got it in the mail. Please do not even look at the no good big whole house water heater because it can only have 3 to4 gal a min.

running through the big thing on it shouts itself off and to little like shaving low running water all so shouts itself off whole house my ass i say.

I purchased the model 310U to replace a 23 year-old Takagi TK-2 that finally failed. Some careful measuring told me that I could install the new heater in approximately the same location as the old one without making any changes to the existing flue piping, and this turned out to be true.

Gas and water piping required rework since all the connections are on the bottom of the 310U as opposed to the left side on the TK-2. I strongly recommend buying a new isolation/service valve set for the installation.

My local M*n**ds had the Watts LFTWH series valve set in stock. SupplyHouse carries the A. O. Smith version, but it would ship separately from the heater and take an extra couple of days to arrive, so I opted to buy it locally.

It really does simply the installation, and makes draining or flushing the heater so much easier. plus the pressure relief valve is included, so that’s one less item to shop for. It feels a little strange to me to have an appliance like a water heater with a cord-and-plug rather than being electrically hard-wired, but this eliminates the need for an electrical disconnect at the water heater, so I just replaced my disconnect with a duplex receptacle.

The 310U worked perfectly from the first powerup. The control panel is excellent and easy to navigate. Otherwise, it works very similarly to the TK-2 it replaced. The 310U does seem to deliver warm water slightly more quickly than the TK-2, but it might just be my imagination.

The startup sounds are more noticeable with the 310U, but not what I would call loud. While running, it’s nearly silent. SupplyHouse. com was amazingly fast processing my order and getting the heater shipped (free).

I built a new house 15 years ago and explored installing tankless water heaters. One of them was electric and ended up being useless so installed a large electric tank heater and a large propane tank heater.

Both finally started having issues so decided to make replacements instead of repairs. I replaced the propane tank heater with the Takagi tankless. I got the largest model to avoid any lack of however.

It is amazing. Endless amounts of hot water. I have it set at 130 degrees which is extra hot. When showering in a very large walk in shower with 6 heads it has no problems keeping up with demand. I live out in the country and am on a well and private septic system so have unlimited endless water.

I typically take 30 minute very hot showers and this heater keeps up. This heater services the master wing of the house including one laundry room. I will be replacing the electric tank heater with another Takagi tankless propane heater to service the other half of the house.

Then I will be replacing the electric tank heater in my detached workshop with a tankless. The main reason for going tankless was endless hot water. A side benefit will be lower energy consumption and maintenance.

With a little preventative maintenance these units likely will last over 30 years.

When I bought my house, 4 bed 2. 5 bath, in Toledo, OH, I had an electric water heater. It didn’t take me long to realize it was costing $55/month for hot water. My options were a direct vent (6 year warranty) or a tankless water heater.

I opted for this Takagi tankless water heater and I’ll never go back. We run vinegar through it for about 90 minutes every fall. Water hardness is 7 gpg here and have no issues. I do notice calcium build up on the pre-filter screen but again we flush it annually as part of the maintenance.

I mentioned the size of my house because two showers, dishwasher and washing machine have all wrong at the same time with no issues. I upsized out of fear the low temp water and temperature change would be too great.

We keep it set at 120, except when I hook up a garden hose to fill the hot tub (side benefit). Using the tankless to fill the hot tub saves like $30 in electricity to not heat the water up from 40 to 101.

Overall I could not recommend this tankless water heater enough. I am so glad I read the reviews before purchasing and found this brand. Flawless so far! 4. 5 years in.
