The Elder Scrolls: 4 Oblivion • 5/5 10/10 100/100 No matter the rating scale it’s always top tier AAA from this era of Bethesda Game Studios. The not so hidden gem but it would seem not many nowadays choose to see past the outdated graphics of the creation engine… While I do own the game I cannot say the same for this Best Buy variant you see Best Buy has a conflict in It’s listing as it is titled as the Xbox 360 version however the game in the picture is of the Playstation 3 variant… would hate to have the wrong game show up when buying (a back up).

Hopefully they have copies of the one on 360….

This game was purchased to complete the set of Elder Scrolls between Morrowind and Skyrim. The graphics must have been designed for a CRT monitor aspect ratio, because it looks distorted and stretched on a widescreen LCD monitor.

Compared to Skyrim, the graphics, especially character faces look outdated and simplistic. The area and local map controls were hard to find, and the compass quest arrows were hard to follow and confusing if several quests were enabled at the same time.

Not recommended for anyone who has already seen and played Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Online by the same studio. What is similar to Skyrim is the Console Controls (also known as cheat codes) that are not mentioned in the instructions, but are found online that allow a player using a PC to audit this game, play any quest in God Mode, or arbitrarily add in-game items like gold or lockpicks as desired.

The game designers seem very fond of placing numerous physical obstructions in this game that turn it into a kind of obstacle-course, and the player has to figure out a lot of convoluted and confusing cues to navigate around to complete the quests, which seem designed to slow down game progress more than anything else.

I suppose the obstacle-course design was meant to make gameplay more interesting, but the end result was a game that is more frustrating and annoying than challenging. This game still plays on Windows 7 and on Windows 10.

My recommendation: buy Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited made by the same company instead of this game, unless you still have a CRT monitor to play it on and prefer simple-looking graphics.

Oblivion, is simply the most detailed, immersive, diverse, and most Massively LARGE game ever made. I absolutely loved Skyrim. Despite Skyrim being rated slightly higher on a few sites, Oblivion is clearly more detailed in may ways.

Loving both, Skyrim now seems like a somewhat dumbed down, or simplified version of Oblivion. Maybe Skyrim was made for a more “universal” or broader audience. Oblivion is MUCH LESS repetitive in replay and visual panoramas.

It is amazing the diversity that unfolds as Oblivion progresses. Skyrim, although an incredible game, starts to recycle scenery and characters early. It also seems to be repetitive in character development.

My advice: Buy them both. For around 10 bucks each, They are both masterpieces, but Oblivion is the fine wine of the RPG world. Save time and grab the Game of the Year editions. The amount of content on these two discs is absolutely mind blowing.

**Update. I didn’t realize when writing this review that it was for the collectors edition. To tell the truth I did not even use the other disc. I just wanted to replace the other copy we had that got damaged.

Unless you are a die-hard fan and have to have everything associated with the game (I think the other disc is a soundtrack?. but since I never bothered with it, I’m not sure. ) I would just buy whatever copy is cheapest.

One of my favorite top 10 games of all times for sure. Its roleplaying, so I already like it because of the themes and storylines and such, but on top of that the landscape is awesome and there are dragons popping up all over the place.

It does have some very violent parts not appropriate for very young audiences, but I just cover my 3 year olds eyes. He loves the dragons. There is alot of talking to people and fighting dragons and other monster type beings and even a few robotic type automatons, so there is alot I can do with him to avoid some of the really violent parts.

I just wait for him to go to bed to do the rest. There are hours and hours of game time. More than any final fantasy game. So, be ready to put alot of time into this game or play it periodically over a long period of time.

This is not something to power through over the weekend. I’m editing this to add that I don’t like that you can’t play multiplayer on the xbox live with this. You have to have the pc. I think it would be better if it were multiplayer on xbox live.

I did leave it 5 stars, though, because the game itself is much better than anything previous. I can’t wait to see what they do with the new consoles that are available now.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a fantastic game that brings out the best in RPG type games. I love how the game puts you in the middle of a world fraught with danger and intrigue. It feels like your playing in Lord of the Rings or the worlds of Conan and Elric.

The exploration is top notch, in that you can focus on the main quest or go on side missions. It really is all up to you. Great graphics and a wonderful score add to the games atmosphere and excite of discovering new places to visit or monsters to fight and slay.

Skyrim is the best of the Elder Scrolls games.

As many people have undoubtedly discovered, this is an epic video game with literally endless hours of game play. The name of land in which you are exploring is Skyrim. It is a place with many mysteries and a place where your actions play a good part into how the game progresses.

Unlike some games, where your path is well defined, Skyrim is an open plains were only the strongest survive. You have multiple paths that you can go and hundreds of “missions” you can complete. If there is any down side to this game than it most probably is the vast number of ways the game can be played.

For a beginner, just starting out, I would urge them to explore the land and to build from that experience. As the game progresses (and you grow stronger) the number of adventures increases. There is many ways to play this game.

I would recommend it anyone who enjoy the Fantasy genre. One fact that I would also note is the long loading time between scene. It is irrefutable the biggest draw back to this game.

(No spoilers!) This is simply amazing. Bethesda(creator/developer of The Elder Scrolls) was kind enough to put all of the core games into a box set. This is a fan’s dream come true and more! If you are a fan you will love this astounding five in one vault of the best RPG game around.

The vault includes, as stated on the product page, Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, all with their respective expansions. Why this is so amazing is that Area (the first in the series) was formatted as a floppy disk until patched in the release of the Deluxe Edition in 1994.

Even so, Arena is a DOS based game and even if one could run it, buying Arena individually now would run you a larger sum than this box set. Daggerfall was a stepping stone into more advanced combat, spell casting, equipment enhancing, and inhanced world interaction that players enjoy now in newer installments of the series.

It is an important installment in the series development and has many more options and quests to explore, thus leading the grandeur. Morrowind: a personal favorite and by far dubbed the best installment in the series by many fans of The Elder Scrolls.

Marrowind was designed with an open-ended free-form style of gameplay in mind, didn’t focus on main quests, and had a truly open world with richer and more expansive detail. Won over 60 awards including Game of The Year (GOTY).

Oblivion was a mile stone for the series as it had over the top detail to the landscape, structures, characters, and focus of events. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was an awe inspiring title that has to be played in order to fully comprehend any notion of the ground breaking digital masterpiece Bethesda created.

Skyrim: A new chapter in The Elder Scrolls, set 200 years after the events in Oblivion. Bethesda used a new creation engine to create more detailed and life like images. The main quest is more focused and side quests are more abundant.

Skyrim is an amazing installment and a worthy end to the greastest RPG series. * On a semi unrelated note- If you have to install Steam to launch any or all of the games in this set, be prepared for Steam to close suddenly for no apparent reason, to install updates, to bring your attention to new releases or sale items, or to error in some unknown manner.

Steam may also filter in viruses so it is wise to have your anti virus software installed, activated, and updated. Personally have not had any problems with Steam importing viruses but I had heard of this happening so here’s a fair warning.

All 5 games including their DLC and the 5 detailed maps are included in one booklet. Very nice hard cover on the booklet and a hard shell slip cover to put it in. One thing I really like about this collection is after you install Arena and Daggerfall, you don’t need the discs to play.

You click the icon to launch the game and it automatically launches DOSBox, fills in the proper commands and in seconds you’re at the main title screen ready to play without issues and with working sound.

You can download Arena and Daggerfall for free from Bethesda but you have to manually install DOSBox and get the game working with the commands. This collection eliminates that task. Skyrim requires Steam to play.

The others don’t but you can add Morrowind and Oblivion to your Steam library. Adding them gives you a few more in game items I believe with Oblivion. Having Morrowind and Oblivion in your Steam library eliminates the need to insert the disc to play which is a nice added bonus.

As far as I can tell, Arena and Daggerfall can’t be added to Steam but that’s not a big deal. Highly recommend this collection to any Elder Scrolls fan.

When I first pull the box out of the plastic covering I was astonished at how well the actual box containing the dvd sleeve was made, it was very smooth and dark. It has gold trim all around the box and the front has the famous Skyrim dragon emblem and The Elder Scrolls Anthology with all of the games listed beneath in gold lettering on the front.

When I began to pull the dvd sleeve from the box I noticed the construction was the same. A rugged dark casing with gold lettering. And Maybe I should call it a dvd sleeve, it felt more like a book. And on the first page you find Arena the first Elder scrolls game.

It has really nice artwork and a little bit of the plot laid out in text then you proceed to open the centerfold for the first page to reveal the game with screenshots taken from it. The same goes for the rest of the games included.

You can get the first two ES games for free on their site but having a physical copy is so much better. The old ones on ebay are expensive. Anyway after you make your way through the pages of beautiful art and glimpses of the amazing titles included you will get to the last page which will include somewhat of a manual for the collection which includes a steam key for ES 3, 4, and 5 as well as maps for each of the games.

Yes you heard me right a map for each of the titles included which is very very awesome. Because I’m not even sure if the original titles came with them, and if they did I’m sure they are hard to find in even decent condition.

If you have been graced with the gift to play even one of the Elder Scrolls games the rest are definitely worth checking out. They are full of hours of immersive and imaginative gameplay. By far the best fantasy series I have played.

And for the price its a steal if you are wanting all of the games. I was first looking to only purchase Skyrim Legendary Edition but when I compared the price to this it was a no brainer. This collection comes complete with all of the expansions for Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.

Also with my employee discount I got even more savings when ordering online with walmart. We really do have the LOWEST prices.

ESO is a an awesome game. When I first logged on I was blown away with the graphics. The music is awesome and somewhat nostalgic if you’ve ever played Morrowind or Skyrim. The best part is once you buy the game that’s it.

No monthly payment like other MMO’s. But they do offer a $15 a month subscription if you want it to add more content, unlimited bag space which can come in handy if you craft anything. You also get what are called “crowns” with this deal.

Each month you paid you receive 1500 crowns which can be used to buy thing in the Crown store. Things such as costumes, mounts, and housing. All of this is mostly cosmetic and not necessary. But the crowns can also be used to buy the mini xpacks which provide more quests and land to explore.

Those are included if you buy the ESO Gold edition. Compared to other MMO”s it is really nice although the auction system is guild only which limits sales. The good thing is once you buy the game whatever content that included is your to keep.

The base game Tamriel online has enough content to last for months alone. You can join guilds and there is a looking for group system for doing dungeons. Like the offline version of Morrowind the characters speak with subs at the bottom.

Nice touch for a MMO. ESO also includes solo dungeons too. If you don’t play for awhile you don’t lose anything time wise. Unless you subscribed which again is not necessary. If you’re tired of other MMO’s I’d recommend giving this one a shot.

At this price I’ve got enough to do for quite awhile and the game is beautiful.

ESO is my favorite game ever. I have been playing since 2015 and have well over 1,000 hours logged on it, but there is still probably a few thousand more hours worth of content I haven’t discovered yet.

Some games feel like a chore after a long time playing, but not ESO. I could wander the beautiful and immersive lands of Tamriel for a thousand years and never get bored. And because it’s an MMO you can meet new people and make friends for real.

Lots of MMOs have really toxic players, and ESO has it’s problem players, but the average player is there to have a good time and be helpful to other players. The experience I had that made me fall in love with this game happened when I was a total noob, only level 8.

I was having trouble being attacked by difficult bosses, and a high level player came over and helped me and then crafted me a custom set of armor and helped me get back to the quest area. I’ve also made lots of friends in guilds.

In short, this game is awesome. It’s also beautiful. These are all screenshots I took.

Game does look cool, and what graphics I can see look great. But I cant do much of anything without PlayStation-Plus account for $60/year. I dont have or want PlayStation-plus. Many online games (ex: Apex) work fine without.

Some Elder Scrolls (ex: Skyrim) work fine without. So I was sad this wont work for me.

I’ve owned many collector’s editions of games before, mostly World of Warcraft. I feel like this was a much better value than those because it includes a lot more physical products, like the statuette and Razum-dar’s journal, and they feel much more quintessential, well-made, and immersive than the items that have come with WoW CEs.

This year, another WoW expansion is going to be released and I’m wondering if it’s going to be worth more than this to buy that, when you get so very little for it. Even the digital items they send you add very little value.

In the future, I will be preordering games from Best Buy. They offer a membership that includes a discount off of all video games and they also throw a $10 gift card on top of every game preorder. I only ordered from Newegg this time because Best Buy sold out.

They have it in stock again, but I wanted it before pre-release.

This is one of my favorite online games for PlayStation 4. If your aunt fantasy and role-playing this is a game for you. I love that it’s interactive and you can talk to people from all over the world so that makes it pretty fun to meet new people.

It’s got loads of stuff to do in the game so you never get bored and the graphics are awesome in the content is nice. I wish I had an endless credit card to spend on this game because they have so many cool things that come out monthly that are add-ons as far as cosmetics and mounts and pets.

So get your ESO on you will become addicted like me.

One of the best soundtrack to own. Packaging is beautiful. Only problem with my copy is that there was a scratch on the first disc. That must have been a manufacturing error since it was a new and sealed soundtrack.

The discs were in their sleeves but not inserted in the folders.

This is a great looking set of LPs, but sadly far too much music is crammed onto each LP side and the result is that the sound quality suffers quite badly. Such a shame, as this would otherwise have been a stellar box set.

As it is I regret buying it and won’t buy any of the other releases.

Though the disc and the packaging look quite cool and are a great collector’s piece, the audio itself is rife with popping and hence is difficult to comfortably listen to. Quite a shame as the ambient soundtrack is amazing.
